What a great place to live! I spent a great deal of time driving around the Koreatown neighborhood searching for a building with character and amenities. Serrano Towers definitely was a great find and I'm actually disappointed to be leaving. The studio units are very spacious with separate full kitchens, eating area, bathroom & closets, they feel like a one-bedroom. There is so much built-in storage and closet space. On the sixth floor, I had a city view which was a wonderful urban skyline pretty cool. If you're lucky enough to grab a north-facing unit, the view of the hills and Hollywood sign is awesome too! The appliances were new and fully functioning. It's nice to have a garbage disposal. Within the first two weeks of moving-in, almost everyone I ran into in the halls and elevator introduced themselves and welcomed me: artists, students, musicians, teachers all very friendly. It's a rare and pleasant surprise to 'know' your neighbors! Gilbert, the manager, ROCKS! He is so friendly and knows everyone by name! He even organizes get-togethers for holidays and other special events so you have even more opportunities to get to know each other. This makes the place super-safe and very comfortable. All of my needs were taken care of, although there were no maintenance concerns to report while I was there! With only twenty parking spots in the basement, I wasn't able to park down there. With meters and street parking however, it was a breeze and especially if you're a 9-5er, no problems whatsoever! There's even a private garage that you can rent spaces from only a block away. It's definitely not a contemporary building, but if you care about whom you're living with and appreciate character and a creative atmosphere, this is most definitely the place for you!

This apartment building is great. Art Deco building with lots of detail and charm...It's been said Al Capone once lived here...Love it so much one of my friends has moved in...Besides the spacious apartments, great prices, fabulous views, one of the best features is the manager. He is not only super friendly, but extremely efficient!

I lived here in a studio apartment while I was attending college from 1989 through 1992. At that time the manager was Tony. He was great, always helpful and very pleasant to deal with. The building was well kept with boiler heating, keyed/phone entry and no air conditioning. The studio apartment we rented was fairly large with generous closets, plenty of windows, full kitchen, deco colored tiles, eating area sectioned off and a built in vanity/dressing area that closed off. It is located very centrally to public transportation, Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue. Shops and restaurants are fairly close. The neighborhood however, was not the greatest. I had my car broken into twice (once in the garage and once on the street). Parking is not much of a problem if you can walk a few blocks. The walls were thick and I rarely ever heard my neighbors. At the time it was a cat friendly building. Even after 4 years, we received almost our full deposit. I liked living here when I needed to. I imagine the rent is more expensive now, but we paid $530 for a large studio on the first floor.
