“Overall a very nice community and place to live in Hollywood. The units are not huge but they have all the amenities you'll need. I specially enjoyed my fireplace. Management was very helpful too. I would definitely recommend them.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“My boyfriend and I applied, paid the $50 application fee + $400 holding depost. All of which we are forfeiting due to this property management scam. Property Manager ---- stood us up on our first appointment for viewing the property. That should've been our red flag. But we gave him the benefit of the doubt, and continued the process. Not everyone makes a first good impression right? Wrong. Apparently this guy doesn't make a good first, second, third, or FOURTH impression. Of ALL of the phone calls that we have had (7+), he never picked up during the ring and we would often have to wait 24hours for a call back, IF he even called back. He would email us the "application" without actually having the application attached, or worse, sent us another tenant's signed lease agreement with their information on it. This is how a management company respects the privacy of their tenants & their sensitive information. We were also lied to about the move in special, we were told it expired at the start of the month so we were forced to rush the application only to find out, the promotion is STILL ongoing. All in all this was a total waste of our time and money. We're looking out for YOU so unless you're desperate and love to gamble, I would turn away.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“I lived at the Cherokee apartments for almost 4 years. It was a good experience overall. Quiet and respectful neighbors made my apartment a comfortable place for me to work out of home. Close to trendy shopping and hang outs too. Ended up moving out of state for work, otherwise I would have stayed longer. Management was very helpful with any issues. I will surely miss the Hollywood life style.”
“Nice and quiet community with professional and friendly tenants. Management is very attentive. Repairs are done promptly and the building is neat and clean. I love my fireplace and the privacy of my apartment. Street is fairly quiet and safe to walk my dog at night.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“Loved it. Great place to live in Hollywood. I had a beautiful remodeled 1 bedroom with balcony and a cozy fireplace. Friendly neighbors and a diligent manager. Very quiet community for the Hollywood area. Highly recommended.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“I dont recommend this place to nobody same happen to us we said we were going to leave the apt we lived there for 4 years and let the manager know we couldnt clean bec we didnt have the time to she never said if u dnt then you will b fined never she never fixed nothing and if she sent someone we needed to tell them what it was because the guy has no idea what he is doing this apt isnt worht your stress or $ they steal your $ the manager is a joke”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“There is no security at all. There are keys to doors and gates and supposedly cameras...24 hour surveillance... First of all, on one side the fence shared with a small house is super low and that particular small house doesn't have a fence in the front. So anyone can walk in their yard and get easily over that little fence to enter the premises of 1215 Cherokee av. Then I moved in 2 months ago, moved in as a roommate. I still had to fill out the application for the manager of the building, which has all my information. So I m not on the lease but allowed as a roommate. I have a pit mix. My roommate has a Huskey. I see Dobermen in the building. 2 months after I move in, the manager sees me and tells me they have breed and weight restrictions. So he decides to say that after 2 months!!!! According to him my roommate never told him we each had a dog! I thought my roommate did tell him as I made sure to have him check for my dog when I moved in. Regardless if the roommate said this or that. They have camera dayy say!!! I walk mydog 3 times a day. I walk him with the roommate's huskey a lot of times too! They're telling me they didn't see 2 big dogs in and out 3,4 times a day! So aside from the fact that huskeys and dobermen are allowed but no pit mix that could easily be approved if it was a matter of being approved as social and friendly. Aside from that I am telling you people there is no security in that building! Cameras...bogus”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“To amend my previous review, it seems that perhaps there may have been issues in the past that seem to have been resolved because we did not experience ANY of the issues they brought up. When we moved, we did as they asked in the beginning and we had no problem getting our FULL deposit back in the time frame they specified. The tenants are, for the most part, very nice and quiet. Of course, there are dogs that bark and the occasional overheard conversation in the courtyard, but nothing to get nuts about. I have heard that the left side of our building was the quieter side as the next apartment building over can tend to have rather loud parties that run late from time to time. I never heard anything.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“I have lived at the Cherokee apartments for two years, and I have enjoyed living in this building because the neighbors are friendly quiet and the managers are the best. The buildings are well maintained and the area is okay and close to my job. I recommend them.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“I've lived at Cherokee Apartments for a little more than a year. I've enjoyed my experience here thus far, with friendly neighbors and great management. I have a one bedroom on the second floor. Best thing: everyone here has some sort of pet, but it's VERY quiet! No pet rent, and a refundable pet deposit. The unit itself is great - needs a few renovations, but the management is extremely accommodating and will fix or replace anything that needs it. I have submitted very few, but when I put in a maintenance request, it's taken care of promptly and professionally. From what I've seen, the management uses the same people to come in and repair or clean out apartments so there aren't unfamiliar faces around the building. Also, the managers check the work and make sure you're happy. The one thing I would recommend for Cherokee Apartments to improve upon, is the grounds. The grass is always cut and looks great, but the inside of the apartment buildings need a little creative sprucing up with trees, plants or flowers. If you're looking for a nice place to live with friendly, quiet neighbors, a great management team, that's decently priced and close to everything, I would definitely recommend Cherokee Apartments.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“I have lived here for about six months, and I have enjoyed living in this building because the neighbors are friendly and the shopping centers are near by. I also enjoy the friendly managers who are always concern of the needs around the building. A great place to live.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“I rented at the Cherokee apartments because its near the film school I'm attenting, but its also near to some of the best night life in Los Angeles. My apartment is not very large but it has everything I need. The building has very friendly tenants, its almost like an artist community, with a very eclectic crowd, writers, performers, actors, producers, I feel right at home. The place is clean and well taken care of. They are also very pet friendly, they accepted my 55 LB. dog.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“In walking distance to everything. I have a cute and cozy apartment with many amenities including a fireplace, dishwasher, stainless steel appliances and more. The managers are very helpful and responsive to any requests I make. They even helped me find a refrigerator. Lots of friendly neighbors, very quiet and relaxing atmosphere.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“I rented a loft at 1225 N Cherokee Ave for a year. The pricing was great and the management was even better. They were always responsive with any issues that came up. The neighbors were all very friendly. I would certainly rent here again, and would recommend Cherokee Apartments to any of my friends. Thank you Abecassis, for making my stay at Cherokee Apts a great one!”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“I've been here for almost one year, and I plan to stay. Yes managers are strict, and I would't want it any other way. If you break house rules they'll let you know it, but they also provide excellent customer service and fix things immediately. It is safe and quiet, and tenants are very friendly. It's close to everything, and a great place for a quiet self employed professional.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“I moved here and the manger seemed okay when we first looked at the place but as soon as you show interest he becomes a different person.. the lack of respect is unreal. He would say onething then when you confront him on it he, says I don't remember saying that. Yeah he strives on fixing issues within 3 days but he talks down to you. All I'm saying is stay away don't waste I'd money. Yeah the place looks nice but its not worth the headaches.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“Bad management, slump landlord, will try to ceat you out of your deposit money...they tried to charge tenants city fees that only owner needs to pay(and they suceeded with most tenants), bad neigborhood, few cars in garage were broken in a couple of apartments were broken in during my one year lease....nobody stay at this place longer than a year and only because they need theire deposit money back ....i have seen lots of people moving out after a month or two......which i tried to but did not want to break a lease. lots of noise on the street ,especially over the weekends. catch 22 is that they will aprove people with bad credit so lots of people fall for that but today i believe there is a lot of places that will work with your bad credit. best advice stay away!!!!”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“I recently moved to 1225 N. Cherokee in May and I have been pleased! The manager has fixed anything minor and major within a day or 2 of me notifying him. He even hung my chandelier for a little pay and put in a new shower head I bought. When I was out of town having a friend stay because some boxes were left outside that my friend failed to bring inside, he contacted me with concern that my friend may have failed to feed my cats since the friend had left the boxes outside. The only negative I have is when I moved in the previous tenant had cats who had fleas resulting in my indoor cats getting fleas, but management reimbursed me for 1 month of flea solution. The garage does smell like cat urine, but the bldg is kept tidy and it is a quiet environment. My studio apt has large windows allowing lots of sunlight, central ac & heat & a fireplace, w/ wood floors, dishwasher & stove. It did not come with a refrigerator so I had to buy one but kind of glad b/c I was able to get one that was smaller than the usual large size. I also really like that I am able to buzz in visitors as opposed to having to physically let them in myself. It's also really great that any size dog is welcome. I'm happy to live here!”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“I have to say after reading the reviews I was a little skeptical to even go see these apartments, but the convenience of being walking distance from my work, I had to go. I rented a one bedroom apt. and I truly don't know why there's such bad reviews, yes the managers are strict with their rules but I wouldn't have it any other way, I found them professional, very pleasant and they went out of their way to help me (I did hear they've been there for about 6 months, maybe that's why is so different now). As a single female I do like to feel safe living in Hollywood wouldn't you? They accept pets as well, I have a Doberman and its not easy to find a place that will take him because of his size, the few apartments I did find that were pet friendly wanted me to pay rent for him also, have you ever heard of this??? I guess it's the new Hollywood trend? come on. Thank God I don't pay rent for him here. I love my place and I am walking to work these days saving a bundle in gas, plus I am in the middle of everything when it comes to my friends and entertainment. Hopping my friend Tracy moves to the building, would love to have her as my neighbor..... please Cherokee apts. if you need a referral for her I'm it, seriously. Thank you Steph”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“The new Managers are very professional. They really do take care of the building and the tenants. Things have changed for the better.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“They are crooks and are in constant violation of the laws such as 21 days for refund of deposit, auto theft, home invasions and the police are always there due to drug dealers living there which I also brought to their attention.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“These people were whorable had a huge deposit they kept all of it and billed me !”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“They will take your money! They will make up a company that supposedly will clean the apartment and fix everything that is not broken so that they can charge you big time! They will do everything just to have all your security deposit. STAY AWAY FROM THIS APARTMENT IF YOU WANT DRAMA/STRESS FREE ENVIRONMENT!”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“Most people don't understand that unfortunatley apartment buildings--everywhere-- have issues. Things break but when they are reported they do get fixed. People that find that hard to believe or are just in denial are probably better off saving their money and purchasing their own property. Onsite managers have nothing to do with increases, how often things break, or unreported maintenance issues. Those are facts. I am a resident and see how hard these managers work and the how rude some of the tenants are.. I feel for them.”
— 1215 N CHEROKEE AVE · Hollywood“I am a current tenant and I can promise you that the negative reviews here are 100% accurate. I'm hoping to move out in the next couple of months. Abecassis are not honest landlords. The onsite manager is terrible. Here are the facts people: Things do get fixed - but it takes MONTHS to get anything done. When you request the onsite manager to have something fixed you are told "oh - I can ask the office but they tell us they don't know when they'll have someone out" So you call the office - they say..."we don't know anything about your leak, broken item, faulty pipes etc" They tell you the manager must not have told them so you get sent around in a circle. The majority of tenants in this building are decent, honest people. The polar opposite of Abecassis Management. Abecassis are a terrible company. Use Google - find out for yourself. Word is getting around about these apartments and they are finding them harder to rent out now!! Its only going to get worse. Please - do not live here. You will regret it.”
