We are still living here. I am amazed at the negative reviews. We moved in in December of last year. The place was spotless. The staff courteous and responds to our requests. We have no roaches because we leave no food setting around and dump our garbage daily. No one as ever come in without knocking (although according to the lease, they could). It is noisy, but that is to be expected when you are in the center of town. There are no security issues. There are guards during the day and the doors are locked and key carded from dusk to dawn. The price is good (for central Miami)and our building is embedded in the south side of the Medical District with free Trolleys out front and the Metro-Rail station is 2 blocks away.

I lived in this place for 1.5 years. to make matters simple: they broke into my apt when I was asleep without prior notice, breaking my chain lock they broke into my apt twice while watching TV without notice then never leave a note when they go into your house the place is not maintained, and swarms with cockroaches the staff can not speak english the staff is unproffessional and unhelpful I threatened a law suit, so they allowed me to break my lease. they charged me 400$ for cleaning, which was a major rip off. if you really dont care about your privacy, money or comfort...go live in this dump

The favorable review below is clearly management and is not even close to true. First off, there is no 24 hour security guard or gated access. The card access to the building is a joke because the west lobby door is left open all day 5 days a week - don't believe me, stop by on any week day. There is only 24 hour patrol on weekends and week days but not week nights. The garage is not attended week nights after about 8:30 or 9:00 (depends on when they want to leave) or at all on weekends so anyone can come and go during those times and car break ins are common and frequent. The roach problem is really bad no matter what you try - even after bombing, sprays, removing trash promptly and washing dishes promptly, they still are all over and in the bathroom. The hallway smells are horrible and any time I have guest over, the smell of the halls here is a source of jokes to my friends and me. Other ethnic tenants leave their doors open to air their smelly cooking into the hallways and it's a combination of curry, dead fish and who knows what else, combined with management's "air freshener" that smells like cherries - great combo. The noise from the freeway will keep you up or wake you up all the time combined with the ambulances that are a constant. The equipment in the laundry room is never all fully functioning. Typically there will not be enough dryers working for the number of washers, etc. Elevators are constantly out of order and the city required inspection certificates for the elevators have been expired for well over a year and counting. The neighborhood is not safe for any kind of after sun down activity like walking, biking, etc. The roof top pool has a wooden deck in a sad state of repair that will give your feet splinters and there is no pool furniture of any kinds to sit or lie on so you're either in the pool or sunning on a splintered wooden deck. Maintenance has a terrible attitude and will not respond after hours other than to tell you that no a/c is not an emergency. In Miami? Really? The only thing going for this place is the cheap rent but you get what you pay for so do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Dominion tower is located in the heart of the Hospital District. All within a block or two from Dominion one can get to the University of Miami Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Hospital. To sweeten the proximity advantage, conveniently located behind dominion is the Schroedinger Research Square where the newly operational Miami trolley services has a stop. The trolley comes by every 15 minutes and has a stop in all the Hospitals as well as its surrounding related buildings such as the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Ryder Trauma Center and all other major "stops" pertinent for a resident, fellow or patient. Aside from this free transportation, the University of Miami also provides shuttle services for all its employees that circulates in all points within the Medical campus. Again this is free and is available from 9 AM to 9 PM. But if you are not the commuter type and prefers to ride in your own car, Dominion tower provides all its tenants with 1 slot of complimentary parking in its spacious guarded multi-level parking lot. For zipster who subscribe to the Zipcar car sharing system, Dominion is located a block away from the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center where 2 zipcars are located. Aside from its strategic location, Dominion tower is equipped with all the amenities that one seeks in a condominium: professional on-site management, 24 hour emergency maintainance, 24 hour security guard, gated access, free water, free sewer and trash removal, free pest control, covered parking, rooftop swimming pool, rooftop sun deck, breathtaking skyline views, units with balconies are available, several on site eateries, central heating and airconditioning, units are cable ready, and there is an onsite laundry facility. I got a 1 bedroom apartment. Its 518 square feet floor plan is quite spacious. It came with a refrigerator and an oven. Its lease price of $745/month for 1 year is a fair price. I contacted CORT furniture rental company to furnish the place. I got the student package which costs $100/month. This deal includes a living room set, a dining room set and a bedroom set. Having set up my accommodations to look decent my 1 year of training in the University of Miami seemed to be more pleasant than daunting. To put icing on top: I bought a 32 inch LCD TV and got comcast's xfinity package. Now I have a high speed internet and a 32 channel basic cable connection. My only complaint is that the property manager's office does not accept mail packages that does not fit your mail box. This can easily be solved though by coordinating with UPS when they can deliver your packages. A lot of reviews have complained about cockroaches. Yes, there are roaches but I think the monthly visit of the pest control guys have minimized this pestilence. As long as you do not immediately throw your garbage with discarded food, you should expect this roaches to be around. Since I started throwing my trash immediately I have noted the disappearance of the small roaches that I occasionally saw. Another issue is the smell that one encounters in the hallway. I live in a floor with a lot of Asians hence, the aroma of their home cooked dishes fill the hallway with the smell of spices. I actually like Asian food hence, for me this is not a problem. Air fresheners within my unit have adequately controlled any stray smell of these aroma. Lastly, the studio beside my unit occasionally reveals the sound of cabinets closing. I think this only happens when the tenant accidentally banged it closed. From the dining area which is closest the unit's door I could hear my neighbor opening and closing his door. Aside from these noises though, it is an otherwise peaceful and silent place to live in.

BED BUGS COCKROACH SMELLY BUILDING. IT COMES WITH A RUDE, INEFFICIENT MANAGER WHO THINKS SHE OWNS THE BUILDING. IF YOU ARE EXPECTING MANY IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS THROUGH FEDEX OR USPS ADDRESSED TO YOUR APARTMENT, BETTER LOOK FOR A CHEAP PLACE WHERE THE MANAGER IS READY TO ACCEPT YOUR PACKAGES. THERE IS A FREE PARKING, BUT YOUR CAR WILL BE OPENED VERY OFTEN - SO DONT BE SURPRISED IF YOU DONT FIND THE CAR WHERE YOU HAVE PARKED - KEEP FULL INSURANCE FOR YOUR CAR.

I have been living in this place only because its close to campusand i am so moving out . At least Ms Fountain was a good manager who was always approachable but the preset property manager is rude and and inefficient. she doesn't even hear / resolve any issues the tenants have. This place is infested with bed bugs and roche, the bath tub gets clogged very often, A/C fails, power and water is turned off during evening time without prior notice, mentainence crew enter apartments with out notice and do not inform the tenants about it, and the managements take no steps to resovle these issues. Its not safe place to live as the door down stairs is left open most of the time and the security is no where to be seen. Overall this is a hell to live in.

Okay, so let me tell you the real deal. Many of the posters here have posted valid points. 1. Roaches. Yes, there are roaches, but there is a roach problem everywhere in Miami. Even with new buildings on lower stories especially. We boric acid our entire apartment and I've been living here for 2 years and haven't seen a roach. We take out our trash every night, and we clean up the kitchen and sink after cooking. Bathroom trash is regularly taken out. Nothing sweet left around. You do these simple things, and you wont see a roach. Promise. 2. Maintenance. Super fast and effective. Now if you treat the maintenance workers like crap because you have some alter-ego, that's your problem. They wont be so helpful then, but I'm not sure you would either if someone gave you an attitude. 3. Rent - for its location, the price is pretty awesome. Great for anyone working or studying at the UM/Jackson medical campus. You WALK to work, because the building is on the campus. Daycare downstairs, which is great if you have little tots and you have to work on campus. Also accessible to some courthouses and law offices in the area as well. 4. Safety - its not really an issue. When the economy started dipping, there were some break ins into the cars in the garage (happened to a lot of places in Miami in fact), and now they have security scanning the place more regularly. Homeless people were an issue as they wandered into the building sometimes, even looking for a quiet place to sleep in the hallways. There are cameras now, and routine checks in the halls - so that problem is over as well. Security is much better now. 5. Space - some of the apartments are pretty spacious. For the square footage you're getting, its much cheaper than renting elsewhere. 6. Smells - sometimes the hallways smell because of all the Indian and Oriental cooking that goes on - the building is very ethnic, which to me is a plus. The smell can be a turnoff for some people. 7. A number of offices in the building, so its not entirely apartments. Your neighbors are all doctors, medical students, or researchers. Fair enough to say that you should make friends with your neighbors. You never know when you're going to croack.

I have lived here for two years and it's time to leave. The apartment is spacious, very quiet (the walls are made of concrete), close to the hospital, and parking comes with the rent. Unfortunately, at more than $1000 for a one-bedroom, the cost is entirely too high for the area. There are constant frustrations with the laundry facility, occasional bugs, and broken elevators---we only have two in our 20-story building. Management is quick to jump on problems, but usually requires multiple attempts to correct problems. The current manager lives in the building and very much tries to make sure everything runs smoothly. But given the location and amenities, the cost for a one-bedroom really should be $700. The good: Pool on the roof Modernized laundry facility (new machines as of one month ago) Ample parking Quiet if facing the hospital The bad: Loud if facing 836 Constant problems with the trash chute No recycling The prices: 1Br/1 Ba ~ $1000 2Br/1 Ba ~ $1200 (What the heck!)

I went on vacation for the Christmas break and when I came back, rocahes by the hundreds had taken over my apt. I accidently left the thermostat on 80. I left to stay w/ a friend on the Gables campus while they sprayed my apt. But two days later I moved back in and awoke to find roaches covering my blanket. Thank God I have friends!
