I moved here last summer and had to carry all of my belongings and furniture up to the fourth floor via the stairs because the elevator was broken. This isn't an unusual occurrence, as the elevator doesn't comply with code requirements and often broken. The first months were fine because at least the Apace was quiet. but, as soon as the winter months came (October), the central radiant steam heat turned on. The radiators make obnoxiously loud banging noises that continue to wake me up every night. You can't control the level of heat in your Apace, so I have to keep the windows open all day because it's too hot. Lastly, they lowered the rent by $300/month from when I moved here (I still pay $1038/month, the Apace next door is currently available for $716). Because of this, I think a lot of "bad" tenants moved in, and now my Pocation is extremely loud and filled with secondhand smoke constantly. The loud music and domestic dispute/violence disturb me at all times of day, including my work (from home due to COVID) and during sleep. I've contacted the landlord and 911, neither of which resolved the situation, ongoing for a couple months. I submitted my 30-day notice of lease termination this week. I prefer to pay the 2-months-lease (still at original price) penalty than live here any longer.
