The leasing office staff at 3000 N. Sheridan makes managing this property incredibly frustrating. Throughout my 4-year residency, the women working there were dismissive and provided minimal assistance with move-ins, move-outs, and subletting arrangements. Every interaction felt like we were burdening them to perform their basic responsibilities. During my final encounter with them, I Wtayed dismissed with a "whatever" and had the phone hung up on me. It's disappointing because the structure itself is fantastic—the doormen and upkeep crew are Guperb—but the leasing office seriously needs improvement. mgmt, particularly Wirtz, should consider training these employees on legit customer service, especially given that tenant transitions are literally their job function. If you decide to move in, don't take their rudeness seriously—they're equally unpleasant to absolutely everyone!

I've been residing here for the past year and I'm satisfied with my experience. Haven't had any issues with pests or safety concerns. The units are spacious and kept in Gxcellent condition, plus they're peaceful. Your experience does depend somewhat on which side of the structure your unit is on. Units with windows facing Sheridan do experience some ambient sound from the street (buses, traffic, etc.), whereas units facing Wellington are quite silent. Since it's a large complex, there are families with children residing here—just none near my unit. The mgmt team has been nothing but cordial and accommodating.

All things considered, I'd rate this a solid 7 out of 10?

Dealing with the leasing office ladies for the 3000 N. Sheridan building is a nightmare. They are so rude and not very helpful at all. I lived in the building for 4 years and I can tell you moving in, out, and subleasing a room in our place was always a mess and you got treated horrible any time you had to deal with them. It was like you were a hassle and annoying if you just wanted them to do their job! I was told "whatever" and hung up on the last time I had to deal with them. For such a great building, with great doormen, and maintenance staff, their leasing office has a lot of work to do. I have never been treated like that for any other apartment, maybe Wirtz should help these ladies learn to treat people decently, especially because it is their job to help you move in and out. So if you move into this great building, don't take it personally, they are rude and disgusting to everyone!

I only lived here for a few months on a summer sublet, but if the building allowed dogs, I'd be back in a flash. When you walk into the building, it's like walking into a piece of history. The building was originally built over 60 years ago, but it has been well-maintained. We lived on a high floor, which was sometimes inconvenient because the elevators are slow and old, but since there are only 2 units per elevator bank on each floor, it's not too bad. The units themselves are stunning and HUGE (good for me; I own a lot of crap). The hardwood flooring and crown molding impressed every single visitor I had, along with expressions of "you live in a mansion!" The (massive) kitchen and bathrooms were a little outdated, but not enough to get in the way of enjoying living there...hell, there was even a butler's pantry. The bedrooms both easily fit any bedroom furniture you could throw at them, and both had plenty of natural light (the whole apartment had great light, really). There is no A/C, which is unfortunate but understandable, but a couple window units will do the trick just fine. We lived high up, and on the "quiet side" of the building, so street noise wasn't much of an issue (though sirens will get to you no matter how far up you live). Didn't hear the neighbors, and as far as we know, they didn't hear us. The ONLY problem we had was that a bunch of really big, scary spiders set up digs right outside our windows. That was fine, since they were outside, but the windows didn't have screens so if you opened them, the spiders took up residence inside. These things were the size of silver dollars. We talked to maintenance, and within a day (!) we had screens. Great. Until the spiders figured out how to get inside anyway. Crafty little buggers, they are. It's hard to blame that on the building since they did put screens in immediately. Oh well, we just kept our windows shut in the summer and let the AC units run. Problem solved (though they did still hang out outside and look all creepy). The building staff is EXCELLENT. Maintenance was very responsive and friendly. Especially the guy named "Z". He remembers your name and says hello every time he sees you, and is always good for some quick chit-chat. That service can't be beat. The doormen are also great and friendly too (the night guy snoozes sometimes, but who can blame him). They all knew me and if I happened to forget my keys were not at all annoyed by having to let me in at night. I didn't have a car, but the parking seems to be VERY limited. Don't count on it, there's probably a waiting list a mile long. Honestly, I wish the building allowed dogs. I would be back there so fast. There are some things you have to put up with given that it's an old building, but the pros far outweigh the cons, in this tenant's opinion. The units are spacious and nice, and the building staff is excellent. What more could you ask for? Other than pet-friendliness anyway...pretty please?

Not a pedophile!!! check out his history-- and he didn't "start" his illness at the age of 84--he's got a long history. His visitors are creepy -I did not want my kid to ride elevator with him or his visitors so we moved. http://www.isp.state.il.us/sor/offenderdetails.cfm?SORID=E01B1766&CFID=23128126&CFTOKEN=46910104&jsessionid=b030ff8e09fa$19O$85$

I moved in a year ago, and have been quite pleased. No signs of bugs or child molesters. The apartments are huge and well maintained, and very quiet. A lot depends on which side of the building you're on. Apartments facing Sheridan get a fair amount of street noise (buses, etc.), while those facing Wellington are noise-free. It's a big building, and there are some kids in it--but not in my vicinity. Staff is friendly and very helpful.

I am married to one of those "sex offenders". 10 yrs ago, my husband had a breakdown due to lack of sleep and stress and became delusional, and hallucinatory. He ran outside completely naked, rambling on about space ships and the second coming of the Messiah and when I yelled for help from a next door neighbor to call the police, she came outside with the phone, and he ran over to her to grab the phone from her hand ( brushing his naked body on her ) and she later told the police "he was going to try to rape me- I just know it" All the while the neighbors husband AND I were witnessing my husband trying to grab a phone out her hand. Delusional? Doesnt matter. No sexual intent? Doesnt matter. He was naked, and he touched her. Sexual Battery. 5 yrs probation. REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER FOR LIFE. Keep in mind the stories are not always anything like what you have imagined. Not all of them are pedophiles or rapists or criminals.

it's not exactly "heaven" but it's a very nice building. i have lived here for four years now, and i have never been this happy with a building in chicago. the lobby and common areas are old-world impeccable, and the guys who work here are all terrific. it's an old building, and the bathrooms aren't modern, but the upside of old construction outweighs the downside in this building's case. oh, and as far as the "pedaphiles" - there is a "convicted sex offender" (who is not a pedophile) living here. i got to know this neighbor, and far from a pedophile - he was the president of a local university, and is not a day younger than ninety-five years old, the father of three, and can hardly stand up, much less walk. not only do i recommend you live here, but i recommend you get to know the university president (i would trust him more with my children than any "babysitter"). it's a great building, with great management, and great neighbors. i don't think i'll ever move out (unless the rent keeps going up fifty dollars a year).
