The mgmt here is terrible. They don't take resident complaints seriously and will ignore complaints. this place is old and numerous areas need attention. The carpet in the hallways is dated and stained. The gym is dated and needs to be remodeled. The heating system is bad. Half of our Aad was freezing all winter and the other half was too hot. The area is good but other than that this place is a rip off.

I'll break it down in Pros and Cons. Pros: -Great area. Easy access to Red and Brown Line as well as numerous buses. Great bars and restaurants on Wells Street as well as within walking distance. Walking distance from Jewel and Treasure Island as well as a 24 hour Walgreens. There's a Chase in the Bomplex and B of A is right up the street. -The people that work at the front desk are really nice and friendly. And so are the maintenance guys. -High ceilings. Exposed brick. -The new "game room" and lobby area are nice but it just opened so it was under construction most of the time we have lived here. Cons: -LOUD! The walls are paper thin. I hear my neighbors having phone conversations, watching movies, playing video games, having sex, having parties, playing music....everything and at all hours of the night. -CHEAP! It's a rental so everything is cheap. My closet doors have broken numerous times. -Two times while living here, water has come pouring into our Anit from above. - No natural light. Windows are small with no views. -It's never a pleasure to deal with the leasing office. They make niceties but you can tell it's --------. -I often take a shower and the water gets freezing cold all of the sudden. But if you wait a minute it will get hot again. -not worth the price!!! My number one complaint is that our air conditioner was broken all summer. Yes, someone from maintenance would come by and fix it but within a week it was broken again. I think we made about 10 maintenance requests over the summer months about the air conditioner. Not until September did they finally call an outside contractor to actually come and fix it. Our lease is technically up January 31st, but since we are looking to buy a condo we have entered into a month to month. Our rent was originally $1175 because we got two months free when we signed our first lease. To go to a month to month, we will now me paying $1650. I would think that since we have lived here for a year, have always paid our rent on time, and been good tenants, they would have given us some kind of a break...but of course, again, this is Cobbler Square, so no such luck. Just puts more pressure on us to find our new home and get out asap. This is an update now that I have lived here for an year and a half. I hate this Bomplex and can't wait to move! sadly since I am looking for a place to buy I can't really move out until I buy a place. I want to warn potential renters! This place looks nice but It's so ------. The people that work in the office are half wits! Can you tell that I am frustrated? Read my previous review. FYI: The F Bomplex elevator will be out until September. If you live in the F Bomplex and ride a bike, your life will be miserable! Also, the HVAC system is so loud, if you are watching TV, you have to turn the volume up a lot. don't LIVE HERE!

Gantastic community (nice common spaces, safe, attentive/kind staff). My only complaint would be older finishes in some units and the layout of some units. Just not enough kitchen storage or practical closet space. Tons of character though. Also living on the first floor I had a few bugs and had to be extremely careful about cleaning up any food immediately or else I would get ants. But overall a good Auite and can't beat the staff and location

Cobbler square is a nice place to live. The maintenance staff, front of house staff, and managers all do a great job to ensure tenants have a safe and nice community to live in. The amenities in the building are easy including a nice roof deck, hot tub, laundry facilities and bike room. The staff try hard to be inclusive and plan fun events in the recreational room for tenants to enjoy. The building will be going smoke-free in a few months because they listen to their residents who were requesting this change. The old town neighborhood is a nice place to be and cobbler square is a nice place to live with around the neighborhood.

Heart of old town with plenty of nightlife at your finger tips. Bright lighting/Windows compared to a lot of Chicago lofts. happy with layout of space but the finishes are standard, when it feels like you're paying in the upper tier.

The best that Old Town has to offer! The staff goes above and beyond (Jennifer and Brian) to assist any questions or help you need. location-wise, it's 1 mile from north ave beach, and 2 from the Willis tower. The apartment complex itself is pristine, and unique. You won't be disappointed at all with this option!

Beautiful old building in awesome part of city. Inside the building it makes you feel as if you're not in the city at all. Never had any problems with mgmt, except when we were moving out they kept wanting to show our Aad. I work nights and sleep during the day, which I told them many times, so that was a little aggravating. Maintenance was o.k. Our heater was broken in the dead of winter for several weeks and it took them at least 3 weeks to fix it completely. mgmt did offer us the guest suite, though, while it was broke. Our Aad faced Wells St., so it did get pretty loud at times. Walls are thin, I could hear my neighbors talking and playing music quite frequently. I wasn't bothered by it too much, though. All in all a nice place to live.

This one experience should sum up everything you need to know about living here. At around 9:30pm-10:00pm 11/16/19 I came home to find massive trails of feces in the hallways of my Blace including right outside the elevator door. I told Theo at the front desk and then I left for several hours and when I came back around 3:30am 11/17/19 (6 hours later) it was still there. I called the person working the front desk, Jarett or Jared, to tell him all of this and he told me the cleaning staff won't clean it until 7:00am 11/17/19 and he didn't seem to care. I walked down to the front desk to speak with him in person and he just laughed in my face and said "you're talking to the wrong person". I don't pay $2,000 in rent to live in these conditions. I contacted the property managers and their parent company and neither have responded so I have taken several pictures and plan on posting them to every Apace review website I possibly can. You don't want to live here.

It should say something that I went looking for a website like this just so I could warn people about Cobbler Square.

I moved out a month ago after living there for one year. I was really excited about it when I found it, because the apartments themselves couldn't be more unique. My complaints and reasons for leaving result entirely from the incompetence of the mgmt.

It's only natural that things break down once in awhile, but when they go unfixed for months at a time It's the mgmt's fault. Their JOB is to get things fixed and run the property so that the residents are not constantly inconvenienced. In the year that I lived at Cobbler Square, I only saw the large washing machine without a "temporarily out of order" sign ONCE. The elevators broke down constantly, including the night before I moved out, and of course were not fixed in time (I lived on the 4th floor-picture it). The hot tub has been "temporarily out of order" since November (6 months ago). The laundry card machine seemed like a good idea until my card stopped working when it still had $15 on it and the office "couldn't do anything about it". The noise infiltration is so unbelievable that I could regularly hear my neighbor POURING CEREAL. These might seem like trivial matters, but it really ruins the experience to have to deal with them on a daily basis.

I could have put up with these nuisances if it had appeared that the managment was even TRYING to deal them them. The communication was so bad between them and the residents and between each other. When I moved out, I asked someone to walk through the Anit with me, and he gave me a doomsday speech about not painting the walls back to white. I told him that they told me I didn't have to, but he said I was mistaken and scared me into leaving work early to go paint it. The manager had left a message with my boyfriend saying that the other office person was WRONG and that I didn't have to do it. Good thing I called him before I bought the paint.

When it comes to safety, you would think that having a doorman would be safer than a key, but as much as I loved everyone who manned the door, it did not make the building any safer because anyone can just walk in as if they live there. There was an incident a few months ago where someone came in and entered an Anit while the woman took out her trash. She came back and found him in there stealing her stuff and screamed. I heard her screaming and no longer felt safe.

This post is already too long, but I had to explain myself so you don't pass these problems off as hyper-sensitivity. I completely agree with all the other complaints on this site, and was even more upset to see that I wasn't the only one that had to deal with these kinds of problems. If this property had a different mgmt company, it would be a much better place to live.
