NEVER move here!! My wife and I moved into Apt 808 at 77 W Huron in March 2012 and it has been nothing but a disaster since. The price was decent (only with the first year $100 monthly discount, at least) and the location seemed desirable, but there s no way we would have moved here if we d known what was in store. First, they didn t tell us when we moved in that they were going to start renovations in April, and as a result the roof terrace wasn t available all summer (it s still not and it s almost November). Second, they provided free basic cable and a good wireless internet service for $30 when we moved in; they decided to improve the system, so now I pay $20 a month more for SLOWER internet. Third, my wife s bike (along with about 20 other bikes) were stolen from their secure bike storage in the garage and management DIDN T EVEN TELL ANYONE. There are probably still people in the building that don t know their bikes are missing. And since it was a gift and we don t have a receipt, renters insurance doesn t cover it, so guess who has to pay for a brand new bike. Fourth, it s been months and they re STILL renovating apartments, so don t plan on being able to be at/work from home during the day; the constant grinding and chipping guns make it extremely unpleasant. Fifth, they upgraded the washers and dryers to new units, which are super SMALL, and even though they re saving money using less water and electricity the price per load WENT UP! Sixth, the new paint colors and carpeting throughout the building are hideous, they were better off before the improvements . I m sure I could go on, but you get the point. The management here doesn t give a Sh%$ about the tenants, and it shows. Basically you ll be paying a high price in rent for a lot of amenities you don t actually get. And I m sure as soon as they finish the improvements the rent prices will skyrocket. Oh, I hope you like homeless people, because you can t walk the half block to whole foods without being asked for money twice each way. For the price of the rent, there are much better options; I just wish we d known that in February. Don t get scammed like me.

This listing needs to be updated. Oakwood no longer runs the building. The changes are awful. I used to LOVE living at 77 W huron until the new management took over. They closed the rooftop for construction. They moved the gym. The noice is INSANE. They are refacing the building or something and it sounds like they are jackhammering inside your apartment. (THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS!) When asked about when this insanity would end, they told me "but think about all the amazing ammentites you will have! Oh they are doing your section of the building but they will be moving to the next section soon!" Turns out, they werent even on my section yet!! They dont CARE about the residents living here! all they care about is redoing the building so they can charge more for the next resident that moves in! Moral in the building is awful. Random people in the elevators are more than happy to bring up how they cant take it anymore, that its not worth the rent, and that they are moving out ASAP! Even thinking that maybe I could live through the construction, we went to see an upgraded apartment. It was ok. When asked about the rent we thought its a possibility to upgrade. When we went to inquire again a couple weeks again, they told us a price of $400 more a MONTH at least. Which is over $600 more a month than we are paying now for the same layout. Basically, the management here sucks, they are liars and con artists that will tell you anything to shut you up for the time being. The door people and staff that stayed when Oakwood left are wonderful though..but NOT the management. And the real kick in the gut is they have these huge signs on the front of the building saying how GREAT IT IS! HOW AMAZING IT IS TO LIVE HERE! YEAH RIGHT! IM GLAD I MOVED OUT!

With the new management/owner, there have been many changes-- not all for the better. They now now cater to dog owners and the place has turned to an overgrown kennel since many dog owners do NOT keep their pets on a leash. The staff are great but with the hefty rent increases, it's time to look elsewhere!

I lived in Oakwood for a year, and unfortunately had to move because I lost my job and couldn't afford to stay. As soon as I am able to afford it, I will be moving back to Oakwood. The staff is OUTSTANDING and always went above and beyond what should be expected. Any issues (ie. clogged drain, sticky screen door, etc) were corrected IMMEDIATELY. I literally mentioned a slightly clogged shower drain to the door staff and had maintenance at my door before I was able to take my shoes and coat off... I cannot say enough about how happy I was living at Oakwood... Very safe buildiing, very safe neighborhood, close to public transportation and anything you desire in the city.

This building is split between short term corporate housing and regular unfurnished apartments. I live in an unfurnished apartment, and so far I have been really pleased here. The staff at the building are very friendly and helpful and they respond to any problems quickly. It is in a great neighborhood in the city, and the apartments themselves are fairly nice. This is a dog-friendly building, and the dog owners here (like myself) are very responsible and there have been no problems with the pets in this building. <br>I would highly recommend the Oakwood, for either long term or short term living.
