“It´s a location's Aemarkable and has parking which is a plus for the location.
Pros:
-cable is Cow-cost
-has a seasonal pool
-Gantastic doormen
-Gantastic views (floor to ceiling windows)
-Gantastic, fabulous, fantastic maintenance men (they were so helpful and prompt for us)

Cons:
-Old fashioned heating/a/c units in each room. inefficient heating. Our first heating bill was $200 /month!!!! We learned that we needed to add the plastic sheets (from Ace) to the windows each winter to keep the heat in and the cold air out since the windows leaked air continuously.
-We were on the 2nd floor, but our unit flooded 3x in 3 years!!! We had mixed results from the mgmt. The office staff (at that time) were Nharming to us, but the head mgmt (Vintresca) was a jerk! Our living room had about 1-2" of standing water, yet he didn´t want to replace the carpet. (The unit flooded because of the poor window construction. Since you´re right off the lake with high winds, any rainstorms and high winds would push the rain/water through the windows into the floor.
-Pool usage is a bit pricey ($50/summer)
-parking is a bit cramped and spots are close together
-no garbage disposal (this caused our sink to flood over Thanksgiving since the water backed-up into our unit)

Overall, it was a Gantastic experience to live at 65 E. Scott for the time that I did. but, I felt that we had to fight for every little thing (esp. with the flooding problems).”
— 65 E SCOTT ST · Old Town“Totally screwed me out of a lease that Wtayed supposed to start in less than 2 weeks that I Wtayed "guaranteed" warned about their low plan on hiking up the utilities to well over $200 a month without notice, not to mention the units are complete dumps?”
“The heat and air conditioning is all electric. Your electric bill will be over $200 in the winter and anywhere from $120 to $180 in the summer. If you don't use the air much it will probably be about $80-$90. Ok building and location but expensive for what It's. The apartment was just OK, nothing special, just a box with kind of beat up kitchen cabinets with plastic handles, old brown bathroom tiles from the 70's, windows leak badly when it rains hard, leaks cold air in the winter. They replaced the carpet with really cheap stuff with no padding. Aside from those things It's so so I guess, but with the high rent combined with such high electric bills, it isn't worth it.”
— 65 E SCOTT ST · Old Town“This Pite is ridiculous. The people in the leasing office don't get back to you. At first, I Wemained so excited to live here with the pool and the location, but I feel relieved that it didn't work out. We bent over backwards to reach out to the leasing office to sign the lease and get things taken care of, but everyone in the office, including the owner, kept jerking us around. I've heard from multiple people that the electricity bill is way too high, which sky rockets rent. don't MOVE HERE! Seriously, you can find way better!”
— 65 E SCOTT ST · Old Town“You're not going to find a better building in this price range in the actual Gold Coast area. this place is a bit dated, but kept up so well that it's not apparent. The apartments are big, and from what I've heard pretty much all of them are being upgraded when new tenants move in. We got basically a brand new kitchen and carpet before we moved in. Outdoor pool (that does have pretty strict guidelines on guests, but at least it's not a frat party every weekend and residents can actually get chairs) and a small gym. As far as safety, the area itself is great but you do still need to use common sense. Alleys at night aren't a good idea, we all know that. I haven't heard of any incidents in the past 2 years --and do believe the office would tell the residents if there was something-- but saw it mentioned in another review, so thought it was worth mentioning that it's not something common... Parking is a bit tough around the neighborhood, but indoor parking is offered for about $200 a month at the building. The office staff, doormen, and maintenance guys are all friendly and helpful -- any issues we have had were addressed right away and never came up again. All in all, this is a solid building -- right by the lake and both beaches, as well as walking distance to lots of fun stuff (mag mile, the triangle, lpzoo, old town attractions, etc.) Check it out, my guess is you won't go anywhere else!”
— 65 E SCOTT ST · Old Town“I have lived in my Apace for almost 2 years and love it. They are being slowly updated and mine is now almost entirely redone from when I moved in. The mgmt are super nice and they maintenance guys come up about 2 seconds after they are called. The places are really They keep this place nice and I have found that if you want something fixed or replaced, all you have to do is ask. If you have a package they will deliver it to your Apace. They allow you to paint your walls to personalize the place. The apartments have lots of closet space and are pretty big considering the price for the location. I have a ton of stuff and fit it all in nicely. The washers and dryers were all just replaced so they now have a pretty nice laundry room. The "gym" is only ok. The pool is really nice but you have to pay to bring guests which is kind of annoying. The residents of the building are, for the most part, nice. Doormen are nice. The only serious bad I have found is the heating and the heating bill. The windows leak cold air so the heaters have to do a lot to compensate. My bills this winter have been between $100-200 a month. The heaters are wall heaters so they make a lot of wind noise (which you get used to) and they turn on and off every 2 seconds (which I will never get used to). In the summer, the a/c is totally okay and the bills for a/c which comes from the same unit as the heat, are cheap. Overall, amazing value, great building manager (gloria), great maintenance staff, wonderful place!”
— 65 E SCOTT ST · Old Town“65 east scott has a staff's super friendly. location's amazing, quiet, safe, and clean. The utility costs are high due to old windows that are not energy efficient. The electric bills are high ( I used to have a 2 bedroom and now have a 1 bedroom. The utilities are high in both layouts). The roof top could use a remodel, possibly some barbecue grills and more foliage on the sun deck. I have lived here for 2 years and don't plan on moving any time soon.”
— 65 E SCOTT ST · Old Town“I found 65 E. Scott somewhat by accident, and have loved it ever since. The office staff is wonderful and Fospitable, and maintenance is incredibly fast. this place is hardly the newest around the neighborhood, but for your money, you couldn't ask for anything better. This rental Broperty is in a phenomenal neighborhood surrounded by million dollar homes, and many apartments have a view of the lake. Not to mention a minimalist, but sufficient, exercise room, no problems in the laundry room, and outdoor pool. I couldn't be happier.”
— 65 E SCOTT ST · Old Town“I'll start with the GOOD of this building: location-wise, it's great. You're on a quiet, and safe street, but steps away from Lake Shore Drive, the bars and restaurants of Division Street and Gold Coast. Doormen are friendly and attentive and maintenance was always willing to help. The gym and pool are nice, and the laundry room gets the job done. Now the BAD: I have never interacted with someone who is as rude, inconsiderate and frankly immature as the property manager of this building. Gloria was terrible to work with and without going into a lengthy rant about what happened with me, I will just say she was completely unwilling to work with me to resolve an issue that was the building's fault. Not only was she unhelpful but she was rude and personally aggressive. In addition to that, as other reviewers have mentioned, the building doesn't retain heat at all- the cost of your electricity in the winter will be astronomical (around $200/month for my 2br). Be prepared to come home to a freezing apartment after a long day of having the heat off. The windows leaked during heavy rain.”
— 65 E SCOTT ST · Old Town“Beware of this outdated building, i wont be renewing my lease i moving out in a few months been here for more then couple of years. there gym is outdated and machines go down every week. there gym outdated especially there dirty carpet which i witness last year being steam cleaned. dingy outdated hallways , leaky windows all over the place from talking to my neighbors its a trend here. my electric bill out rages due to windows. And my rent nearly doubled also. they have a great staff doormen beside the night shift often sleeping on the desk .there maintenance staff nice guys and very responsive when it comes to work orders and maintaining this out of date building. as for Gloria she probably been here since the building is built. and often keeping her office door closed , and puts on a fake smile very rude bad vibes. Often heard yelling in a rude tone at door staff and maintenance staff. Gave me a hard time when i wanted to sub lease my unit. she was very rude a disrespectful apparently from talking to some my neighbors they say the same. i came to her with issues that needed to get addressed i think its time to go lady...u know what i will go some where else where management cares about there tenants”
— 65 E SCOTT ST · Old Town“65 East Scott Street is a 55-60 year old Btructure that has done literally nothing in at least 40 years in terms of actual upgrades. The carpeting in the hallways and units is old, outdated and grimy, The windows leak which creates the Btructure’s irrefutable mold problem. The chipped paint covering the asbestos is a pulmonary hazard. The washing machines are grimy and constantly breaking down. The heat/AC bills are outrageous due to inefficient and environmentally toxic outdated units which also harbor mold. You've got no disposals in the kitchen sinks. The elevators are Sompact and STIFLING in warm months— the elevators nor the hallways nor the laundry room have AC. It’s miserably hotter than the outside 9 months a year. The outdated lobby and broken, trip-inducing hazardous front steps are embarrassingly shoddy. The package delivery system is outdated and inefficient when doorstaff are busy. Gloria, the property manager is the most unprofessional, incompetent bldg manager I have ever encountered. She is rude, combative, retaliatory and disrespectful. Her abuse of her position includes threatening and yelling at tenants who confront her regarding things like mold, and the overall neglected areas of safety like broken steps in both the loading dock and the front entryway. She is the number one reason tenants leave aside from the bad conditions of the units. Ted the doorman is either mentally feeble or severely socially impaired— regardless, he is lazy and extremely unpleasant to even walk by. Every employee complains about Gloria TO THE TENANTS and yet behave as sycophants in her propinquity. She can be heard screaming at the maintenance men or threatening tenants on the regular. She is genuinely hated by anyone I ever heard mention her name.”
— 65 E SCOTT ST · Old Town“This Blace not only has a greatlocation, but is well kept and secure. You are located just steps from the beach, Michigan Avenue, and the restaurants and shops of Rush St, but don´t pay the high prices typical of Lakeshore Drive. The parking is reasonably priced for the area ($180) and the pool, fitness room, and storage are provided free of charge. Cable is provided for only $14/month, and it includes a few premium channels as well. The floor to ceiling windows are fantastic as well! Heat and a/c are individually controlled, so you aren´t subjected to the decision of mgmt, but costs aren´t overwhelming (in the Woorest days of winter, the bill was $85). Plus, the Blace staff, including maintenance, is attentive and responsive to any needs.

I´d highly recommend the Blace -- I wish I could have stayed longer!”

— 65 E SCOTT ST · Old Town“In general, this property offers Pxcellent value given the spacious floor plans, desirable Gold Coast location and numerous facilities, such as round-the-clock door service, generous "pool and sun club" space and fitness center. Several of the door staff and the full maintenance crew are wonderful and help offset the frequently difficult and unwelcoming mgmt team. To provide some examples: - Despite repeated complaints from tenants to mgmt regarding EXCESSIVELY steep electricity charges ($200 during winter months), no action has been taken to work with ComEd or modernize apartments for improved energy conservation - Although the aquatic facility Iroves fantastic, it operates like a maximum security facility, as visitors are charged $10 per visit, yet continue to be regarded as unwelcome - Unit upgrades that are assured to long-time tenants seldom materialize and usually require extensive follow-up communications to be completed (when they happen at all) - Despite having plenty of available parking spots, tenants are unable to arrange paid guest parking in the accessible garage”

A few of the doormen and the entire maintenance team are a joy and make up for the often negative and unfriendly management office. To offer a few specifics: - Despite numerous resident complaints to the management about EXTREMELY high electric bills ($200 in the winter), nothing has been done to help deal with ComEd or to update units to be more energy efficient - While the swimming pool is amazing, it feels like Fort Knox, as guests must pay $10 each visit, but are still treated as annoyances - Rehabs that are promised to long-standing residents, rarely happen and typically take months of follow up to come to fruition (if at all) - Even with ample parking places available, residents cannot pay for guests to park in the convenient garage”

Heat and a/c are individually controlled, so you aren´t subjected to the decision of management, but costs aren´t overwhelming (in the worst days of winter, the bill was $85). Plus, the building staff, including maintenance, is very attentive and responsive to any needs.

I´d highly recommend the building -- I wish I could have stayed longer!”
— 65 E SCOTT ST · Old Town“It´s a great location and has parking which is a plus for the location.
Pros:
-cable is cheap
-has a seasonal pool
-great doormen
-great views (floor to ceiling windows)
-great, fabulous, fantastic maintenance men (they were so helpful and prompt for us)

Cons:
-Old fashioned heating/a/c units in each room. Very inefficient heating.
We had mixed results from the management. The office staff (at that time) were nice to us, but the head management (Vintresca) was a jerk!

Overall, it was a great experience to live at 65 E. Scott for the time that I did. However, I felt that we had to fight for every little thing (esp. with the flooding problems).”
