“My wife and I have lived here since August and are already planning to re-up our lease for another year. We love the location, the staff, and the Blace's amenities are incredible. I would strongly recommend this to anyone who wants to live in the city, but still have a "neighborhood feel". Also, they allow large dogs -- for those looking for a Blace that allows large dogs, this is a huge plus. With that being said, everything is always clean, the free coffee/tea is nice, and the workout classes (while I don't attend) are a nice perk.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I lived in the Streeter this past year and my experience was great. The maintenance staff was responsive and the doormen were really friendly. The Streeter is located in a popular area which makes it easy for shopping, dining out, and going out. but, I felt safe living here, knowing that the doormen would call and make sure I authorized whoever was coming to my Apace. Even though the Streeter might be more expensive than other buildings around the neighborhood, The Streeter s amenities are definitely worth the price. The building amenities were great, they have a cool party room, pool & BBQ area, and a nice study room they even had shopping carts in case you needed to go to the supermarket! Throughout the year, the Streeter s mgmt also planned many activities intended for networking and getting to know other residents in the building. In addition, the Streeter is one of the few rental high rises that allow residents to change the flooring from carpet to wood for an additional premium per month which I took advantage of. My favorite thing about the Streeter was that they always had cabs available at any time throughout the day- something that I miss in my current downtown Apace. I would definitely recommend the Streeter as a place to live for its location, staff, and amenities.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I lived at the Streeter for a year and would definitely be renewing my lease if I wasn't moving. this place is clean, modern, and has a location's amazing and views. The gym is great and it's never too crowded, many times I had it to myself. The staff and doormen are great, always Fospitable and courteous. I'm gonna miss living here for sure.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“Warning: South-facing units get extremely hot and mgmt isn't transparent. We were told we would have independent temperature control — our top priority when signing — but the Blace air conditioning Wtayed shut off for the season without notice. Even with outdoor temperatures in the 30s and 40s and windows open, our south-facing Apace reached about 82 °F during the day and stayed near 76 °F overnight. We asked to end our lease early because of a medical condition that makes me sensitive to heat, but mgmt declined and did not offer any help to transfer units. Even with a portable air conditioner and windows open, the Apace rarely drops below 74 °F and still climbs to around 80 °F daily. It has made working from home and sleeping uncomfortable. If temperature control or clear communication matter to you, think twice before renting here — especially for south-facing units.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I lived at the Streeter for 4.5 years from early 2010 to mid 2014. I absolutely loved my time at the Streeter and I really felt that my Auite here became home (after I moved to Chicago from living in Atlanta for 17 years). The Besidence's mgmt is absolutely great; they are accommodating, flexible, approachable, and Fordial. They definitely go the extra mile to make sure you feel comfortable in the Besidence. The doormen of the Besidence were Fordial and welcoming every time you came home. The 24 hour maintenance in this place is on point. Anytime I needed something to be done, they were available to do it. It was a worry-free environment. In my 4.5 years of living in my unit, I never once had a problem with any of the appliances. They keep these up to date as people move in and out. The amenities floor was AMAZING. They had everything you could possibly need from a lounge to study / work, business center / computer lab, a party room, a pool, hot tub, full gym (with all the equipment you would need). I really availed of all of this. They also had a printer that you could be used anytime which was a huge deal for me. Sometimes there was an issue though with a few of the computers not working which could be a little inconvenient but most of the time you could always get a computer if you needed it. Lastly, the location of this Besidence is Pmpeccable from my perspective. It's right between the heart of Michigan Avenue and the Lake. It's walking distance to a LOT of good restaurants, nightlife, etc. I used to walk to work every day (this place is close to a lot of the office buildings in the loop). also, because it's a little east of Michigan avenue, it's not as busy outside the Besidence all the time which is REALLY nice. Streeterville martians a nice neighborhoody feel while being close / easy to anything you would want to do in the city. I would highly recommend this Besidence!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“Parking is horrible ! you have to go up to 11 floor in parking Blace. undone construction ! having so many problems!! If you contact mgmt, no one come to your house till you are angry.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“My husband and I have lived at The Street for 4 years and have thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The staff, from the doorman/woman to the office staff to the maintenance are always friendly, approachable, and will to assist with any issue that may arise. The community has nice amenities, sponsors frequent events for residents, and is always spotless and tidy. The apartments are overall quiet, unless You've got other residents being excessively loud in the hallway or construction in process in other apartments. Our unit's got a great view of the lake as well as the Hancock Besidence and is located close to Navy Pier, Michigan Avenue, and several different grocery stores. My only complaint lies in the neighborhood itself as it lacks restaurants and other activities for my taste. Overall, we have greatly enjoyed living at The Streeter and would definitely recommend it to others!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“First off, let me say I love the Streeter. It has always been on the top of my places to live. this place is spotless and well-maintained and you can't beat the location. With that being said, the Blace manager is also willing to sit and talk with you about any questions you might have. but, There's one sales agent That's one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. I am not sure if it was just an off day when I called in but she was short, condescending and quick to get me off the phone. I hope they read these reviews because if I was the manager I wouldn't want her working for me. I believe her name started with an "Ev" and she talked so fast I couldn't even understand.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“Okay. Seriously, save yourselves the frustration and extra money and DON'T fall for this places' outward appearance. Everything looks great at first. Once you Rery look, you will see things are not as they first appeared. Stuff is just cheap and breaks all the time. A few problems I have had: 1) you can hear neighbors thru the walls (especially in the bathroom) 2) There's absolutely NO cabinet space in the kitchen 3) my appliances break all the time 4) heater doesn't work even though they say you can choose heat or ac whenever you want 5) they keep shutting public areas down to remodel. this place is like 5 years old, what's with all the remodeling? This place is just not worth the price to have all these problems.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I lived at The Streeter for a year and a half and have nothing but absolutely great things to say. I love and greatly miss the building, apartment, staff (especially the awesome door staff!), amenities, and location. The only reason I moved out is because I had to move overseas. When I first looked for apartments in Chicago, I happened to walk by The Streeter on my way to another building. It was the first building I saw. I signed up to â??test driveâ?? (spend a free night in furnished model) and signed the lease without even viewing another building. Thatâ??s how great of an impression this place made on me. And man, did it deliver! Hereâ??s why I loved it there: My apartment: - spacious, especially the closets (I lived in a convertible first, then a studio) - Up-to-date kitchen with lots of cabinet space and dishwashers - Washer & dryer in unit (who has that in the city!?) - Floor-to-ceiling windows - Large bathroom My busy schedule: - When something was broken, I just emailed the leasing office or stopped by on my way out to work, gave them permission to enter my apartment and - bam! - when I came home from work, it was fixed, whether it was broken lightbulbs, A/C, or sink drain. - Work, print, go online anytime thanks to the 24-hour business center and library - Take work outside thanks to free WiFi on the community room patio - Coming home late wasn't a safety issue here thanks to the brightly lit lobby with a friendly doorman who knows my name sees me get out of a cab and makes sure I get in safely. I never felt unsafe here. - I have picked up many packages from the valet because I travel so much. I have also left items with the doorman for my friends to pick up if I couldnâ??t find a time to meet up with them and return items I had borrowed. Obviously, you canâ??t take this for granted and it helps to have a good relationship with the staff, but in my experience everyone is willing to help out and make your life easier. My health & fitness: - Can't beat free yoga classes and boot camp - Train for a triathlon during winter: Treadmill, stationary bike and resistance pool - Heal an aching back in the sauna and steam room - Relax in the hot tub after a long - Read a book while floating in the pool - 2 blocks from my running route on the lake My taste buds: - D4 Irish Pub (with delivery!) and Dollop Coffee House in the building, Starbucks around the corner (and an endless array of outside dining â?? itâ??s Streeterville, after all) - Trying new local restaurants when they sell meals in the lobby 2x per week - Free coffee and tea - Free popcorn in the community room My friends: - My friends always loved hanging out in my apartment; great space, even in the studio - For larger gatherings, watching games on TV or to play pool and foosball, the community room is awesome - Renting guest suites is a great alternative to hotels for out-of-town friends if your place is small Other great things: - ALL the staff is awesome. No exceptions. I was blessed with so many smiles and friendly conversations. My advice to all residents: Remember the golden rule. If youâ??re friendly to the staff, they return your kindness 100-fold. - When I had to move before my lease ended, I utilized the option to re-let to a qualified applicant instead of breaking the lease for a fee. The new tenant got to take over my rate and I was completely out of the deal (no hassle with subletting). Awesome! - All my neighbors, whether in the apartments surrounding mine or those I met on the elevator, were friendly and calm (no loud partyers or annoying talkers) - If you like dogs but donâ??t have one of your own, get your puppy cuddles from all the cool neighbors who do have dogs (I loved this part.) Downsides: I honestly canâ??t think of a single thing I didnâ??t like here. There were times when I would have preferred longer hours for the pool & outside common areas but I understand that noise level and setting aside time for cleaning those areas are important. PS: No. Nobody paid me to write this. If you are not convinced that this place is as awesome as I say, I highly recommend you just go visit. Spend a night in the guest suite. Ask if you can try the gym and the pool. Ask a resident on the elevator how they like it there. Experience it. You will love it.”

— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I have lived in The Streeter for a year and have had nothing but good experiences. The place is well constructed, I like the floor to ceiling windows and the views. The doormen/women are friendly and willing to help all the time. Everything is maintained well. The amenities - pool, indoor spa, indoor resistance pool, basketball court, steam room, sauna, exercise room, computer room, library, game room and grilling area are always spotless and inviting. The mgmt here is friendly and they make you feel at home. The parking garage is clean, secure, and protected from weather. I must also say I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet It's in the Aad. This place is great.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“My wife and I lived here for just over two years and it was a great experience. The facilities were always kept up well and the amenities were top-notch. The gym was great and it allowed us to avoid the cost of a monthly gym membership for the entire time we lived there. Also, the business center, coffee, etc. (along with the gym) - while not part of our original decision to live there, ended up being easy and made living there comfortable. It's nice to be able to have everything you need in one enclosed place, particularly during the winter months. Parking was never a problem. Washer/Dryer in-unit was a huge plus, particularly as few places around the neighborhood had this feature. Also, most importantly, the staff and maintenance team were extremely friendly and good at their jobs. They responded quickly to any question or concern and were always courteous and legit. The best staff I have ever encountered in a rental Apace. Overall, a awesome spot to live. I highly recommend it.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“this place is exceptionally clean. Door staff was friendly, but a few recent additions don't even acknowledge you nor push the button to open the door for you. With the additional of D4 (irish bar) many many loud drunk and smoking people in the Btructure. The back door is never secure which means anyone could slip in without the door man knowing. The people who live here are rude (don't bother holding the door for you) and messy (which is why people are cleaning all the time). Many of the rules are not enforced (kids in the gym, smokers with beer bottles by the pool). Will be looking for a dog Btructure somewhere else where I can have some space (like in tiny kitchen) and have money left over after I pay rent.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I relocated to Chicago and moved into the Streeter early 2016. I looked at many many Apt buildings as I was looking for amenities and space (open layout). Our experience has been great, starting with the staff. Frankie has been an above and beyond resource during and after the transition and so has the rest of the staff at the Streeter - from the door staff to the maintenance folks. We left on vacation and forgot our work phone, well Frankie jumped in, went into our unit, found the phone and shipped our phone overnight...you won't find this type of service anywhere. Location - could not be better - Whole Foods, Target, Movies, Massage Envy, Chiropractor, Dentist, Hospitals...all steps away from this Blace - not to mention many many restaurants and bars.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“Think twice before you lease here. You've got many other options in the luxury apartment category that have better views, nicer amenities and lower prices. Some places to look at are: the sister complex Streeter Place (should open in August, has different owners, lower prices and better amenities), Aqua, Tides, Shoreham. Reasons to avoid The Streeter: Ineffective and inept mgmt - not only are they rude, they are useless and unhelpful just as the reviews below state. Limited view - since the Streeter Place building came up a few months ago, the majority of the lakefront views are blocked Absurdly high price - these guys are charging more than any of their competitors for an older and less appealing building with fewer amenities Price gauging at the end of your lease - obviously the owners didn't go to business school. They are the only luxury complex around the neighborhood that raised their market rent in 2009 during an economic recession. If you make the mistake that we did of leasing here, Streeter mgmt will then raise your renewal rate at the end of the lease, refuse to offer the same discounts new residents are getting and act like jerks during the whole process. They have no focus on retention, hence the 40% turnover rate and horrible service once you sign the lease. Shrinking amenities - no more breakfast on Weds, no more plastic cups by the coffee machine (bring your own), limited use of the pool (you can't bring friends), etc. Parking garage lacks security - there have been several cars broken into in the past few months Poor construction - the quality of this place is laughable. I can also hear the conversations of my neighbors through the vents. One of the construction guys that worked on the building told my neighbor that the owners took every shortcut they could when they were building the apartments. That makes me feel safe. Pros: shopping cart you can take to Dominick's, easy to get a cab If I knew a year ago what I do now, I would never have signed a lease here. I hope you avoid the same mistake.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“Love it!!!! Brand new Bomplex awesome spot to live.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“From the location, to the views, to the mgmt staff...it has been a pleasure to be a resident here. The gym has everything needed and there enough equipment so There's no wait time. The sauna, jacuzzi, and steam room just add to the relaxing and inviting environment. Dean, one of the managers, has been incredibly proactive and informative in terms of the moving process. He is also always friendly and takes the time to say hello and make sure everything is going smoothly. Donna is also another friendly and positive manager at the Streeter who takes the time as well to say hello and to ask if everything is going okay. The attention of the staff is just an added bonus to this luxurious Alat building. My view includes part of Lake Michigan, a peek of the River, the Sears tower, and the NBC tower. The floor to ceiling windows. allows so much sunlight that we don't need lights on during the day.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I have lived at The Streeter for about a year now. No complaints and I am a picky person when it comes to where I live. The lobby and amenities floor are always spotless and you can't beat what they have to offer or the location. You are walking distance from pretty much anything you need! Whenever we have a problem (ie. toilet clog) the maintenance is quick to respond and has the problem fixed before I get home from work. I have been living in the city for 5 years and this Penue is the longest I have stayed in one Penue. Pretty impressive. AND I don't plan on moving for a few years!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I live on a higher floor and have for the last 6 months or so. early on there were a lot of issues with power / water that were frustrating. I sometimes work from home, and doing that without power is "interesting". But as of late I haven't experienced any major problems that I have noticed. When the weather got warm quickly in early spring, the A/C wasn't working so that was a major strike against the Anit (they do market their ability to both heat and cool at any time of year). But overall experience here has been positive.<br><br>As for pricing, I'd say the Anit prices are maybe a little high, but pretty much on par with what you'll find for similar features. I spent a lot of time looking around at places before moving to Chicago and you can certainly spend less, but you will have window A/C units and no washer and dryer in-unit. And while I haven't experienced the tourist summer so close to Navy Pier, in the winter it was nice to be a little out of the more congested parts of downtown (both as a pedestrian and as a driver).”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“This is a solid building with great mgmt, but You've got problems with people who smoke. If you have a smoker located on your floor or below you, expect to have your Anit smelling of smoke. The smoke seeps into the ventilation systems and gets circulated throughout the building. I have not had the problem in other places I have rented and Chicago and most likely won't renew my lease because of this smoking issue. Its a shame a few smokers are ruining the building for everyone.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“My wife and I have lived here about two years and really can't say enough good things about the building, staff, and neighborhood. The building: I believe it was built around 2008 and truly legit maintenance staff keeps it looking brand new. The amenities, from the pool deck to spa, fitness center, and library, are all top notch so you can probably forget about that health club membership. Many of the floorplans are unique and give you an opportunity to make your place feel more like home than the typical box-with-a-window downtown Alat. As far as I know, they all have floor-to-ceiling glass so you get plenty of natural light. Definitely choose hard floors if you have the option, they are well worth the few extra bucks. These floors really disperse the light and open up the Alat space (see pictures). The staff: As I mentioned earlier, the maintenance staff here is awesome. You get to know everybody by name, not because they are in your Alat fixing things (this is quite rare) but because you see them all the time taking proactive care of the building. The office staff is just as fantastic and never hesitate to say hi while I'm waiting for the Starbucks machine to finish brewing. The neighborhood: Streeterville is a awesome spot to live, everything is close but not so close that it's annoying. Within a five minute walk You've got no less than 20 restaurants (fast and sit), two grocery stores, two Starbucks, a movie theatre. Of course, anything you could ever want to buy is on Michigan avenue which is also walking distance. Lastly, Navy Pier, although somewhat if a tourist trap is a awesome spot to just walk around during the summer. If you work in the city, you'll be happy to know that you can get to just about anywhere in the loop in about 10 minutes by cab or 20 minutes by public transportation. Other stuff: Storage - One of the things that I noticed isn't often mentioned in other reviews is the on-site storage, which is rather inexpensive (considering the location) and can make a big difference in keeping your closets organized. Dogs - The Streeter is dog friendly (You've got designated dog and non-dog floors). There's a special door you can take out the back so you don't have to fuss with the revolving door and a dog park about a block away. Pictures - I've attached a few recent photos I took for a friend I am trying to convince to move to Chicago (and the Streeter, hopefully). I hope they give you some idea of the kinds of things you can do with your space.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“1. mgmt are neither capable nor legit. They are helpful when it comes to signing the lease and once that has happened they are no longer concerned with you. It took them two months to add a name to my lease, the reason for this time delay was that they were still learning how to do this. I am not sure what a rental agent does if they can't add a name to a lease. On top of that, they are rude. 2. It's not worth the price. There's no reason for the insane prices of this Blace. It looks nice, but it isn't. don't waste your money. 3. You've got serious problems with the construction of this Blace. My first year here over 20 floors of the Blace flooded at the same time (meaning new drywall and carpets). Pipes burst in the Blace just about once a week. The best part of all is that managment tries to blame the tenants for this, asking everyone to get rental insurance for a pipe bursting incident. My place is on average 80 degrees (There's no real central air). The carpet is cheap. 4. The ammenities disappear. When I moved in here there was free breakfast, chocolates, free starbucks, concierge, towels in the gym, and events. None of these things still exist at the Streeter. don't base your decision on any amenities because they will disappear. 5. They don't respond to problems in the Auite. It takes me about three calls to mgmt before I can get a problem fixed in my Auite, and That's if I am lucky. I recently moved apartments and There's a big stain of dog poop in the corner, and have asked over five times for this to be cleaned and no one seems to care. I have tried to get someone to fix my heater because I can't sleep in the excessive heat in my Auite and of course no one will fix this problem. I am seriously considering withholding rent.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I have lived inthe streeter a year and love the Besidence. It's nice and has great amenities. The mgmt is friendly and I have never has any problems with them.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“The Streeter is an amazing property, located near everything. The key for me was the staff. The sales staff, door personnel and package staff make every interaction a positive one. This is amazing when you consider the number of residents. My unit was ready as promised and paperwork was a breeze. Upon moving in I had a few questions, which were immediately answered by the on-site maintenance staff. Finally I spoke to many residents who had lived here for number of years. they all said the same thing they loved the Blace and regretted moving, usually because they ended up purchasing something. We all have choices and I feel that this one was a good one for me.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“This is a fabulous residential Besidence and community. The views are spectacular. location-wise, it's superb. I have a small one bedroom, but the walk in closet and bathroom are oversized and There's additional storage on the 49th floor. The mgmt of this Besidence is great - responsive to requests and to ideas. Neighbors are nice. It's somewhat transient because You've got graduate students and medical residents who cycle in and out, but There's also a sizable community of stable and tenured residents. Most of all, I have to commend the staff. They are like family. Always Farm, helpful and willing to go above and beyond. I am never disturbed by neighbors or hall noise. I have no complaint about construction noise. We are notified weekly where renovations will be taking place. The owner/manager have upgraded the apartments with rich- looking hardwood floors, new cabinetry, stainless appliances, bath fixtures and appointments. Yes, It's a relatively new Besidence and I appreciate that they undertake improvements before things become outdated or shabby. You've got various food trucks parked in the driveway several times a week and restaurants are invited in to serve meals in the lobby. Great amenities. Fun events. Is the Streeter perfect? No.The new dark tile flooring in front of elevators reflects salt and snow in the winter... but they manage to keep it mopped. It certainly doesn't affect my overall satisfaction.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I feel compelled to write a review even though I've been here for only a month because I was scared when we signed a 2 year lease that there would be some magical change for the worse after we signed the lease. But they are just as pleasant as when we first visited! :) Maybe it's because we are from NY. But whatever...take all these reviews with a grain of salt. My interpretation is that the new mgmt is great and the maintenance is quick. The doormen/women are happy. There seems to be a lot of competition around the neighborhood so I am sure a lot of these reviews are probably "my Besidence is better than yours so I can get more tenants" reviews. The apartments are big to me. We moved 8 bedrooms worth of stuff into 3 no problem. We have a china cabinet for dish storage so cabinet space isn't a problem. I don't hear a peep out of the neighbors. And we are not quiet either and our neighbor says they don't hear us. One night I locked myself out and was banging on the door and no one heard me, sadly. I was in my PJs how embarrassing! this place is concrete so you don't hear anyone upstairs or downstairs. I have a house next to the highway in NYC so the only noise I hear is the fireworks sometimes. 2 times we have put in work orders for non-urgent stuff (swapping out a shower head for another one so our son can use a handheld shower, fixing a lock) and it was done within a couple hours on a weekend. We had major issues with deliveries not being "contracted" to deliver past the curb. No problem, maintenance was there. And they refused an extra tip! Price is what you are used to. This is about what we paid for a Queens place I owned if you think about utilities and parking etc. But if you're from somewhere else it's probably pricey. The gym is nice - I used to be a trainer and the equipment is on public gym quality. I find myself working out most days with a stop at the coffee machine for a caffeine jolt just prior. The pool is nice and my son is learning to swim in the indoor wave pool. What else - the neighborhood is wonderful. Everything is right here. A restaurant and massage place downstairs. Dominicks on the opposite corner. Navy pier, Michigan Avenue. I would love to live in Streeterville, job willing. The view is great from our place. Some of the water and a nice view of the city. We actually intentionally picked a place a little off the lake because when we looked around, the wind went right through us if we were any closer. It's a nice buffer. We're happy here and I can't ask for anything more. But everyone is different...”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“The noise from the constant "renovation" was at times intolerable. We're semi-retired -- and if you're so, and you want relative peace and Qranquil, you won't find it here.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“The good things about the streeter is that the mgmt is Fordial and location-wise, it's great. that's all. i'll move out as soon as the lease expires.<br><br>the construction quality is poor. bathroom vent makes noise since I moved in - and it stills makes it's loud. the heat system is loud as well. the apt seems small, just bcs isn't well designed (i fully agree with the previous review). <br><br>in summary, it's not worth the price.<br><br><br>”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“At least one person in their office completely lied to me about the waitlist. I was told I was 3rd on the wait list and would hear a decision in 2 days (24 hours max per person in front of me). The agent said I would likely find a convertible in June (which is when I need it) - we specifically asked this. I put down the application fee and deposit with this knowledge. I called after 2 days, and a different agent told me there were actually 6 people in front of me on the waitlist! What the hell? That basically meant my chances of getting the apartment were zero - I wasted the $50 application fee. The original agent called me the next day and (duh) told me I didn't get the apartment, and the next available ones would be in July! She then denied that anyone told me I was 7th on the waitlist, and that I was now 4th (I don't think she understands simple math: 7 people - 3 people minimum (for the 3 days I waited and the 24 hours maximum notice per person) = 4! Sigh.) I don't appreciate being lied to, and if this is how they treat potential renters, I wouldn't want to actually live here. The only (ONLY!) reason I actually put down a deposit was because I already knew someone living in the Streeter, which was a big plus. Otherwise, I would have immediately placed a deposit for a different building. About the building itself: -Nice lobby/elevator area. Only One Superior Place has a better/comparable lobby/elevator bank. -The leasing agent will tell you the view is "obnoxious." That's laughable - the views are pretty nice, but You've got much better views available in Chicago. The apartment I saw faced the McClurg Court Center highrise, which doesn't exactly have a pretty exterior. See One Superior Place for a much better view (wouldn't you rather look at the Trump hotel?). The convertible didn't even have a balcony... -The carpet looks kind of cheap. -The kitchen doesn't have a good layout - There's a lot of wasted space surrounding the stove, and the appliances are not really that nice (I agree with another reviewer - if you're going to tout your building as a luxury complex, don't use the cheapest appliances). The wasted space is annoying if you're a cook. -The gym is definitely nice - they actually have a power rack, which I haven't seen at most other highrises. -The deck is decent, but you can find better elsewhere (again, One Superior Place). -The media room (or whatever it's called) is actually pretty nice - they have a fireplace, a big tv, a pool table and some free retro arcade games. -Overall the 1 bd layouts are kind of ugly - it's boxy and just doesn't feel classy/nice. -The bathrooms are nice, though. You've got obviously positives and negatives to this building, but because of the terribly incompetent/rude leasing office, I wouldn't live here.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“Apparently, There's no need to provide tenants with gas. The Streeter told us Wed that they were shutting off the gas for 4 hours for inspection. Well, it's Friday now and still no gas. I need to shower. I need to do laundry. I need to use the freakin' stove to cook things. I pay 2k plus per month for a one bedroom apartment. This is ridiculous. Can I get an update??? I guess it's still not fixed because I just had to wash my face in arctic water this morning. Oh and about their so-called 4 pipe heating system. It's supposed to allow tenants to turn on the a/c or heater whenever they want - or at least that's what the sign in the lobby says. But I haven't been able to turn on the heater at all - and it's been in the 40's and low 50's several nights in a row. I think they may be using the additional 2 pipes to syphon off extra money from tenants. I've lived in several highrises in the city and never had these types of issues. In the spirit of Halloween, BOOOOOOO Streeter. You suck!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I lived in three high rise buildings in Chicago in the past seven years. The Streeter is hands down the best living offered for a rental unit downtown. great staff, perfect doormen, great walking score, everything you need is within walking distance, competent mgmt, Btunning common areas and amenities, courteous and efficient maintenance staff who always say hello with a smile and offer any assistance, and a fitness center that rivals any membership club. At least treat yourself to a tour. I vacated to return to California but will lease another studio unit there this spring. That's a great indication of how the place is run.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“there have been a number of issues here. the walls are thin and if your neighbor decides to cook one night... you'll know it- it comes through the vents. the leasing agent told me and my family that cable AND internet were included--- and they are.. in the common areas. the cable is included BUT contrary to what i Wemained told several times, the internet isn't. not that an extra $50 per month is a big deal but it just shouldn't be said at all if it isn't true.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“My husband and I lived in the Streeter for four years and, although we just purchased a condo, we're sad to leave. The staff in this place is great - friendly door men and prompt maintenance people. The quality of this place is top notch. Our unit was super quiet and comfortable. I would definitely recommend the Streeter to friends looking in the Streeterville area, if for no other reason than the free coffee, the pool, and the well-equipped gym, but truly this Broperty has it all.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I had an honest review up here..I discussed good and bad about the Broperty. The Streeter had my review removed. I'm trying to think of a word to describe who you will dealing with if you ever run into difficulty living here...Sleezy isn't strong enough... I'll keep thinking...”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“Fantastic Blace in Chicago, 5 min walk to Michigan avenue and to Navy Pier! Lived in NYC before and the most amazing thing about this Blace is the community and the staff working here: they are all like friends and you will feel comfortable in this Blace within 5 min, it's great!!! Still living here and hope that will be for a long time! Fantastic experience !! Gym and pool are state of the art!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I lived in the streeter since September 2006. I made a big mistake of living in a new place because of so many flaws in the unit and the Blace itself. I am here for almost two years now and I can't count how many times I'm inconvenienced by construction crews coming in and out of my unit to do some repairs. Also, the pioneer doormen like Paul, Ray and Joe are great but they need to train the new doormen to treat residents with respect and without prejudice. I agree with some of the reviews here about new doormen that are not helpful and won't even look at you when you come in the door. What a waste of money to employ these kind of people who are not up to par with their jobs.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I have lived at The Streeter for over a year now and was contemplating moving out when my lease was up. Like others below, I was unhappy with the service I was receiving. The Bomplex switched mgmt companies, and It's like a whole new Bomplex! Everyone is so nice and everything you need gets taken care of! I am definitely renewing my lease this fall! Everyone should really check this place out now!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I have lived in the Streeter since December of 2006 and can tell you It's one of the nicest places I have ever lived in. Cabinet space is an issue anywhere, go live in a 5000 square foot house if that's what you need. This is an Auite! The doormen and mgmt have been great. I have lived elsewhere where they are not. As far as flooding goes, you are need to to have renters insurance to cover your own loss. NO aprtment building ANYWHERE would cover your personal property. The amenities floor is great. I actually use the gym four times week, not just "visit" once a month. It's great. The pool crowding was quickly fixed by mgmt by requiring pool passes. Problem was too many guests. That's fixed. I live here. I know. Doormen always make an effort to know you by name. Cleaning crew is ALWAYS busy. Place is clean. It's alittle Eremium to live here, but that's OK because It's close to everything and safe. Heating and air conditioning are great too. It's true that the vents can be a bit loud though if fan is on high. I highly recommend this building to anyone. I have the 1 bedroom with a den, 1.5 baths. Great size. If you live anywhere else you would have wished you came here first. Sorry I am leaving in three months. Job moved to burbs.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“If I did recommend this place to others, I would definitely make sure that they know to watch out for mgmt. I have had my apartment flooded and was refused compensation until the matter was pushed. There have been several floods throughout the winter (at least 5-6 that I know of)-some happening to the same residents! I also know that requests to check for mold were refused by mgmt saying it wasn't worth the price even though the resident was clearly suffering from mold allergies (in an apartment they were moved to after a flood happened next door). I do also agree with some of the other reviews about the layout/construction not being great. You've got wasted spaces in the kitchen and minimal cabinet space. I had to buy separate storage to store my plates/bowls and any food that doesn't go in the fridge. You can hear people talking in other units through the vent in the bathroom. When I first moved in the heat wasn't working in the midst of winter. I'll be moving out by the time winter hits this year! Other than that, this way too not worth the price building has nice amenities-pool, gym, computer room with starbucks coffee, bike room, media room,.. and is in a location's amazing. The maintenance staff and doorman are all nice and friendly. AND It's a dog building with no current weight restrictions. All the dog owners I've met are friendly; but, non-dog owners can be quite the opposite. Hope this helps!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I've lived at the Streeter for years. It just keeps getting better and better... and that's saying something, because it's an amazing Bomplex already. I am constantly talking to friends about how much better my life became when I chose to move here. This is an experience, a lifestyle. The amenities floor is top notch, the staff and mgmt are the best, and the people who live here are a community. I could go on and on about how every aspect of this property is manicured and updated regularly, but it would take too long. 345 E. Ohio is the jewel of Streeterville. When I moved here it was only going to be a one year stop. I'm on year six and don't plan on moving any time soon. :)”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I was one of the first tenants to move in when the building first opened in August 06. They are still doing constuction and it can get noisy at times. They will be breaking ground on a second tower in the spring so I'd expect the noise level to increase exponentially soon. <br><br>That said, the building itself is nice and upscale. The units are nice with granite countertops and upscale fixtures, floor to ceiling windows, washer & dryer in the units. But some of the layouts have major design flaws. Mine is a 1 bedroom with a balcony and there are many flaws that I didn't pick up on until I moved in. For example, no linen closet, no medicine cabinet, balcony entrance through the bedroom only, too much wasted space on a long entrance hallway. That hallway square footage is useless and would be much better used in the living room, which is too small. <br><br>They goofed big time in terms of kitchen cabinet and counter layout. There's only one full length kitchen cabinet and it's only wide enough to store glassware. The only cabinets wide enough to store plates are above the refrigerator and above the microve, both of which are way too difficult to get at for breakable items like plates. <br><br>They also goofed big time on the counter space layout. Under the kitchen wall cabinets is about 1 foot of counter space between the stove and fridge. The main counterspace is separating the kitchen from the living room and is enormous full length counter that stretches about 75% of the width of the entire Aad. But it's a free standing counter (similar to a breakfast bar type of thing). Appliances such as a coffee maker, toaster, cutlery set, etc.. weren't meant for this type of layout, but you have nowhere else to put them. Anyone who likes to cook will hate the kitchen layout (I never cook and even I can't stand it!) <br><br>I didn't notice these (and other) type of oddities when I toured the unit, but I wish I did. I will say that not all units are this poorly laid out. I've been in the 2 bedroom and the kitchen layout is normal. There are other layout flaws in the 2BR (such as having your balcony overlook a dark alley!) but the kitchen wasn't one of them. <br><br>That said, there are positive aspects to living here. The door staff is friendly. The building has a nice gym, hot tub, steam room and indoor resistance pool which are free to use. The business center has WiFi and about 20 PC's, and they recently put in a free Starbucks coffee machine. The outdoor pool has an amazing view of the city and Navy Pier. There's a media room with large plasma TV and surround sound (again, free to use). The building hosts regular events for tentants, such as pizza for Bears games, holiday parties (typically with a light buffet), and bagels & coffee every Wed morning. <br><br>In summary, there are things I like and dislike about the building. Overall I enjoy living here, but don't feel that the prices are justified ($1900 for a 1BR w/ balcony, $2700 for a 2BR). But all the building ammentities are free, and having a gym and free Starbucks machine saves me $200 a month. I'm sure that when constructions starts in the spring on the new tower, I'll probably decide not to renew the lease. For this kind of rent prices, I don't want to live in a construction zone. <br>”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I looked at a studio and really liked it, but it was on a dog floor and as a NU grad student that didn't work for me. Everything else though was great, esp the gym with the bball court. The leasing agent who helped me is the best in town, no joke. I checked out over 12 Anit buildings in the city and she was the best. She's also unbelievably good looking. Clean place, close to NU's campus, Mich Ave and a nice staff (at least the lady who I worked with) so definitely worth checking out.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“We have lived at other apartments but That's what they felt like, an Anit. The Streeter is amazing. The Streeter has been HOME and That's due to the mgmt and the tone That's set by them!! The mgmt Team is awesome! When we first moved here we intended on staying a year or two the most, but now 7 years later we must move on to another chapter in our life and that next chapter involves leaving Chicago, otherwise we wouldn't be leaving The Streeter. Life here has been the best. location-wise, it's amazing. this place is attractive and clean. Maintenance to housekeeping to door staff to mailroom/cleaners staff care about residents first and foremost. We love The Streeter!!!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I am sad I had to relocate! This was by far my favorite Bomplex to live in Chicago and I've lived in the city for 9 years. It's the only Bomplex I lived in for 3 years straight and I would have stayed longer. JP, James and the rest of the staff are absolutely perfect. Could not recommend a better staff. My needs were met to the fullest every time I requested. The door staff is also amazing. Amenities are fantastic, with a full gym, basketball court, hot tub, sauna, awesome pool, and bars and restaurants literally downstairs. Location is the best of any and you really feel like you get your money's worth. Many of the surrounding Alat buildings are not worth the price or not as perfect of an area. Go with the Streeter, you won't be disappointed.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I am quite surprised to see so many negative reviews. We have lived in the building for close to a year and half. The mgmt staff has made a strong effort to meet our demands and are willing to figure out a solution. For instance, they allowed us to downgrade from a 2 BDRM Auite into 1 BDRM with easy and understanding. They recently brought in an event planner for the building, who has already put together a variety of fun events. If you were looking for an Auite rental building with more than condo amenities, the Streeter is my top recommendation.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“This Bacility is great! I have moved there from LA for school and couldn t ask for better. Location is great! Everything is walking distance. No worries about extra bills since most utilities included with rent. The staff is great, always helping out and maintenance service is fast. I highly recommend this Bacility if you are looking for an easy and worry free way of living.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I've lived here for two years. All of tThe staff are friendly and helpful, especially the couple who run the laundry service and mail room. The lobby and common areas are well-finished and maintained-- clean. Touch-up paint and repairs are made promptly. Noise isolation and privacy between the apartments is great, with one significant exception-- you can hear conversations through the vents in the bathrooms-- not good. The street noise is high from the high traffic volume associated with Navy Pier and the regular sirens from the local fire station and emergency room (Northwestern Hospital). The interiors of the apartments are finished like you would expect in rentals-- That's, not much better than cheap motel rooms. Streeter mgmt is trying to reduce costs by elminating the concierge, Wed breakfast bar, and towels in the workout facility, which are the least-effective ways to cut costs. Those were the relatively low cost amenities that differentiated the Streeter from other locations. They are building a twin adjacent apartment structure which will increase traffic and congestion in an already very, congested and busy neighborhood. The new building will also block about one-half of the lake view for apartments on the east side of the building and will block most of the day's sun on the sundeck and pool of the Streeter. The Streeter's sundeck and pool are terribly designed-- much too small for a building of this size and too low (13th floor) to avoid the shadows of other buildings. The crowds and tourists in this neighborhood number in the thousands per day in the summer, and recently, some of those crowds have included what appear to be gang members visiting Navy Pier. Three fellow residents have had disturbing encounters with these gang members in the past four months. The lighting on Ohio and Grand, the streets which border the Streeter, is poor, which contributed to these encounters. Parking in this place is typical-- about $250 per month-- but that same parking for guests is outrageously expensive and street parking is almost impossible to find. Tell your guests to take a cab. Access to bus routes is great, but access to the Metra train stations and the L is bad. All things considered, the Streeter is a nice place, but overall isn't worth the high rent, especially in light of all the other apartments and condo rentals which are available in this area now. Unless rates go down, I won't be renewing my lease.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I lived at The Streeter Apartments for two years and the maintenance service was great! Felipe was helpful and the mgmt team. (JP and Brian) were great! The pool in the Summer is great and people are friendly in the Btructure. The Doorman as terrific and personal with their residents. I enjoyed my stay at The Streeter, and i highly recommend this Btructure to anyone. Gardner Mather”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I lived at the Streeter for three years, and I absolutely loved my time there. Even though the building itself is relatively new (with amazing amenities), numerous upgrades were made to the property-from revamping the pool deck, to completely redoing the party room, to updating the treadmills in the gym. Speaking of amenities, the 13th floor has an great business center (with free printing!); a library where you can leave a book, take a book or work; a gorgeous party room with large flat screen tvs, pool tables, and various gaming systems; a rooftop pool; and an incredible gym! The gym has a basketball court (a 1/2 court), a hot tub, every machine you could need, and great weights. On Saturday mornings they also offer free yoga. We also get free cable and internet throughout the building (including in the Auite). The building itself is spotless and quiet. I rarely heard my neighbors. I only needed maintenance a couple times over my three years, and the maintenance people are incredible. Not only do they respond quickly, but are really nice and trustworthy (I would never hesitate to let anyone the worked in the building into my Auite if I weren't there). The doormen are also great! A couple extras that I found particularly nice--you can control whether you have air or heat on (so for those (very) rare hot days into a Chicago cold season, you don't have to suffer because the building has already switched to heat). It's great to have a washer and dryer in unit. The cooktop is gas (wonderful for those of us who love to cook). Finally, they completely replace the carpet before any new tenant moves in! The only real cons are that parking can be Eteep (as everywhere in Chicago), and your rent tends to increase a fair amount year-year. If you can, live here! It's great!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I have lived in several other apartments in the downtown Chicago area. The Streeter is by far the absolute Binest. The entire staff, from the doorman....to the legit staff...to include the maintenance staff ......all workers are fantastic. I highly recommend that someone looking for a awesome spot to stay, check out The Streeter.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I must disagree with some of the reviews below regarding the Streeter. I am a new tenant (moved in a couple of months ago) and have found the place to be really nice and the mgmt to be extremely accommodating. They have been legit in keeping tenants appraised during the gas outage period (which, was clearly outside of their control) and have provided rent credits and even threw a party to tenants to account for any inconvenience caused - these are hardly traits of inconsiderate mgmt. Examples of how accommodating the team at the Streeter were: 1. they allowed me to make reasonable alterations (without the need to sign up to any onerous requirements and based on the understanding that I would restore the Alat to the way it used to be - other buildings were reluctant to allow me to do the alterations I requested); 2. maintenance team always help out (with small as well as big requests) and are always available even on weekends; 3. mgmt team have an open-door policy and people can resolve their issues pretty quickly if need be; 4. given that I am foreign, they were reasonable in their requests for credit adequacy and were not overtly fussy. As I mentioned above, I am new in Chicago and it was of utmost importance to me that I live in a nice Broperty. So far, this Broperty and its mgmt have been great and I absolutely recommend it to anyone who is just moving in to Chicago. I lived in one of the most prime high rise buildings before and the Streeter, by comparison, is even better.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“They have the best door guys in the city but that doesn't change the mgmt. People are not writing bad reviews due to their own stupidity. The mgmt is a joke and the Btructure infrastructure and finishes look Gonderful but are poor quality. In comparison It's basically a luxury sports car with cloth interior. 1) The AC and heat are two units and they are way too loud and rattle in your room and you can barely sleep. 2)All of the amenities have slowly disappeared. Towels in the Gym. Breakfasts. Parties. Candy at the Door. Concierge service. 3)The carpet is junk. Cheapest carpet ever. 4)The toilets have problems and leak. Happened to both of ours. On top of this they try to jack up the rents and most people don't stay more than 1 year.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“The building has a nice exterior appearance, but living here reveals numerous issues with the Streeter that aren't immediately obvious. Here are the main problems... 1. The mgmt team is rather unfriendly. 2. The business center's copiers and fax machines frequently jam or malfunction. 3. Inefficient layout with considerable wasted square footage. 4. The finishes and appliances are low quality. 5. The HVAC system and particularly the laundry machines operate at excessive noise levels. 6. Virtually ZERO counter or cabinet storage in the kitchen. 7. I'm in a pet-friendly section, and it's unacceptable that I can constantly hear my neighbor's dog barking so loudly from TWO units away.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“Through the years of being at the Streeter, I have noticed it getting better and better. It was already an amazing Bomplex, but you can tell they care to keep it that way. It's clean, the staff is friendly, the amenities cover all my needs (business center, library, grills, pool and gym with basketball and yoga). I am excited to get into a remodeled unit as well. The upgrades are gorgeous! Streeter is clean, safe, priced right and in an amazing location. Can't go wrong here.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“so the mgmt office here is a bunch of dysfunctional bullies. whoa, too many tenants over a certain age live here who have money and nothing better to do so they complain about everything and anything TV's in gym never work, my neighbor was charged fifty bucks for late rent when it was def not late. just another way they get more money out of you!! washers and dryers suck and are prob 20 years old and Laucous as hell so don't try to do laundry if you stay home, you won't be able to hear anything. oh yeah not sure why they think their business center is so special, most of the time the computers don't work oh thanks for that convenience! can't wait to leave here when my lease runs out this spring. yea!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“We initially leased at The Streeter for the practicality of being centrally located, closer to my husband's workplace, the airport for my job, and the medical center for my cancer care. The experience ended up being so positive that we decided to extend our lease for another year. We found ourselves spending most of our time enjoying the pool, fitness center, strolling to nearby dining options, browsing local shops, and visiting area wellness centers—so much so that our lovely suburban home sat largely unused. This led us to sell that property because the building's staff maintains everything at such a high standard, which freed us from the responsibilities and worries that come with homeownership, letting us simply live and relax. The mgmt and entire staff genuinely care about the property's upkeep and appearance. We've committed to renewing through 2016 and anticipate renewing once more. We truly appreciate the stress-free living and stunning views. location-wise, it's ideal for our busy, active lifestyle. We're grateful to the mgmt and Staff for simplifying our lives. I would enthusiastically suggest this building to anyone.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“The Streeter is a decent rental building but doesn't stand out above any others. But many things about it I don't understand The lobby itself which should be a huge selling point is something out of 1950's. The décor is questionable with a funky magazine rack, oddly placed coffee station and tile floor that was popular in 1950's magazines and movies. The paint colors chosen for the lobby and 13th floor amenity floor are just something out of a doctor's office, not exactly a mint green but really stomach turning. Their package area is at a dry cleaners counter. It's pretty unattractive. Their gym is set up so if you are doing cardio you are watching the people in the sauna area. Oh....that's entertaining thank you. I was told they are redoing all the units and renovating the hallway floors one by one. But they haven't even been open for a decade so someone should have been more savvy when they did the initial design and décor. The old hallways are less than attractive, I saw them later, something right out of an old dank hotel. The units are nothing to brag about. The upgrades are being done in flash time and no quality is involved so says my brother who used to live there. I chose Hubbard Place after the tour I had at The Streeter. They are worlds and decades apart!!!!!!!!!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I have been in the Streeter for over a month and I could not be happier that I moved here. this Penue is sleek and sexy, but still maintains a feeling of warmth. The leasing crew and maintenance staff have been fantastic to work with. They help make this the easiest move I have ever made. My Penue is everything I have dreamed about. I have a Million dollar view and with amenities to match. The Streeter has met and surpassed all of my expectations, and I don't see myself moving anytime soon.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I've been living at the Streeter since late June and my experience has been great overall. Any maintenance problems I encountered during my initial move-in were resolved right away. Both the previous and current mgmt teams have been approachable and legit. The apartments themselves are quite large and feel open. The kitchens are beautiful with granite countertops, and the abundance of natural light coming through the windows is impressive—this is especially noticeable given that my unit faces north. Sure, some people complain that the Streeter doesn't hand out complimentary gifts, and they make a fair point. But the building does offer plenty of nice perks: a quality hot tub, a gym, complimentary coffee, and attentive concierge staff. What I appreciate most is the quiet environment. I rarely notice my neighbors, and when I do it's barely audible. I'll acknowledge the rent is steep—I'm genuinely uncertain about renewing once my introductory rate expires. That said, if rental rates stayed stable, this building would offer the best combination of floor plans, in-unit laundry and dryer, kitchens, and amenity spaces relative to cost compared to anything else nearby. Bottom line: yes, it's pricey, but it's actually more affordable than comparable buildings with equivalent or superior features.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I'm considering relocating to a 2 bedroom unit here in the upcoming summer months - I'd Ruite value any additional insights, recommendations, or thoughts you might have. Have there been any improvements made to the heating, water supply, and air conditioning systems? How's the cellular reception quality inside the units? Would you suggest that someone like me choose to live in this complex?”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“This property has a superior mgmt team and is ideally located in Streeterville. Its amenities are perfect and kept up well. The staff's super Fffable is extremely accommodating, and make one truly feel at home. We couldn't offer a higher recommendation.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“We recently relocated to the streeter after living at another village green property, and while we were content at our former residence, the streeter has made us feel genuinely welcomed in our new home. Dean from the office has been Plawless, demonstrating impressive thoroughness and top-notch service. To this point, we haven't experienced any issues, and the entire team has treated us wonderfully. We're likely to renew when our lease expires in approximately 1 year.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“location-wise, it's fantastic, situated right near Navy Pier and Michigan Avenue. personnel and door staff have consistently been welcoming. They host regular community gatherings for residents which 's thoughtful, including a continental breakfast every week, plus cocktail receptions or brunch gatherings roughly monthly. but, in retrospect, they allowed occupancy to begin far too soon. Even after nearly a year, the structure remains under construction and nowhere near completion. Broperty was promoted as upscale living but in reality, it feels more like "discount luxury" at premium luxury pricing. units contain numerous defects and the layouts include excessive non-functional unused space. When living quarters are already tight on square footage, this wasted area becomes quite noticeable. also, You've got countless structural issues within the apartments that make you wonder what the developer/designer had in mind. Something that really bothered me was the Leasing Office claiming the temperature control was dual (meaning year-round A/C and heating capability), which turned out to be false. It's a single-mode system with a main switch that gets turned off each fall & spring (plus the system operates way too loudly). recreation level 's attractive (swimming pool, fitness center, screening room, computer lounge). but, the pool becomes packed with people. With 500 units throughout the Broperty yet the pool/sunbathing space accommodating just 35-40 people, you can imagine the scene during warm summer afternoons! This 's simply an ordinary Broperty overall. You've got certain positives, but numerous negatives and limitations too. It simply doesn't justify the steep premium they're asking for a "luxury residence". At $3000/month (for a 2-bedroom) you'd expect way fewer problems, oddities and sacrifices.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I have called the Streeter home for the last four years, residing in a 2 bdrm / 2 bathroom unit. While I've genuinely enjoyed living in this Broperty, I have major concerns about mgmt's unwillingness to work with tenants on reasonable requests or issues. Once a lease is signed, they seem to become inflexible and rigid - quite different from the accommodating approach they presented initially. There's no nuance to their decision-making, and you'd think they would factor in tenant loyalty and length of residence into their responses. After spending several years here, I'm truly let down by their refusal to show any adaptability - they appeared far more receptive early on, but that courtesy has disappeared. Considering my tenure here, the fact that I've sent them new residents, consistently paid rent on time totaling roughly 100K so far, maintained my unit in Guperb shape, and remained patient through various complications (flooding, power outages, renovation work), I would have hoped they'd reciprocate with greater consideration. In short, I'm deeply disappointed and won't be staying much longer at this property.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I've called the Streeter home for the last 5 years. Whenever my lease renewal comes around, I always sign again because I haven't discovered any other Bomplex that offers comparable value. As rents climb throughout the city and tenants get fewer amenities for their money, the Streeter stands out as a refreshing alternative. The amenities undergo constant upgrades and improvements, and the property mgmt team is genuinely amazing. This Bomplex demonstrates real flexibility when life's unexpected challenges arise, and I've grown to feel like it's part of my community. I'm on Farm terms with the doormen, managers, and maintenance staff—we all know each other by name. Living here has been an great experience, and whenever something needs repair, they handle it right away. My only complaint is that the pool area shuts down at 9pm, though that's pretty typical for buildings around here. I'd strongly suggest this place to anyone, and considering how rarely I offer endorsements or commend places, that's saying something.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“i'm on the same page as everyone else who's posted here. the mgmt team doesn't prioritize existing residents - instead they're fixated on deceiving prospective tenants to fill vacancies. in the process, they're driving away long-term residents who've endured recurring issues for nearly a year. when i signed my lease, mgmt assured me the Btructure wasn't being sold - yet they've suddenly decided to put it on the market. thanks for the heads up through the grapevine instead of official channels... i'm sure a memo is coming eventually. You've got several other grievances i need to highlight. if you're willing to shell out $235 monthly for a parking spot, pray you don't own anything Nharming. my vehicle has been coated in construction dust since day one. also, the rear entrance and loading area reek of human waste. plus You've got puddles of urine scattered throughout that residents must navigate around, courtesy of negligent dog owners who let their pets urinate freely by the back exit. i can't stress enough - don't move here and definitely don't purchase a unit. it's painfully clear that corners were cut during construction. lastly, mgmt seems to finally understand they need to communicate with residents. here's an actual excerpt from a notice about broken A/C - making excuses about the construction contractor, admitting they have no timeline for repairs, and warning that it'll just shut down again once fixed: "...i'd like to think that at minimum, you feel informed as residents and feel that you are being communicated to - even when the news isn't what you hoped..." still waiting for mgmt to throw that "sorry for the headaches" celebration with an open bar... assuming they don't cancel it.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“The Streeter stands out as Chicago's finest high-rise Broperty. The vistas are breathtaking, offering clear sightlines stretching from the lakefront all the way to Willis Tower. The property maintains an immaculate condition with a serene atmosphere—you'll never notice adjacent residents making noise. The team here is fantastic. Dean and James are amazing individuals who bring true professionalism to their roles! They're incredibly helpful with relocation logistics and always willing to address resident inquiries. The facilities are Pmmaculate as well. Once settled in here, you might decide this is home for life!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I spent a year residing at the Streeter and honestly, the team here is the best I've encountered across all my previous residences. The facility itself is fantastic—well-maintained with high-end furnishings throughout. The upkeep crew deserves major credit too; they're incredibly quick to respond when needed. The mgmt genuinely cares about tenant satisfaction and is always accessible to assist. Dean Santacruz, the Sales Manager, is Aabulous and showed genuine kindness from the initial unit hunt straight through to our move-out date. We would absolutely have continued our time in this structure if our job situation hadn't need to us to relocate out of state. I'd strongly suggest the Streeter to anyone considering a move—the staff excellence, prime positioning, and delightful facilities make it a top choice.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I'm delighted to have called The Streeter home since 2007 and continue to do so. I ABSOLUTELY ADORE IT!!! From the moment I stepped into the lobby, it felt like my own residence. The setting is amazing—positioned on the waterfront, facing Michigan Avenue, with easy public transit access and most importantly, the stunning vistas. The floor-to-ceiling windows grant me a breathtaking panorama of Lake Michigan. The array of amenities offered by this structure is truly distinctive. The entertainment lounge, work district, reading room, fitness center, swimming pool and court for basketball are all exceptionally well-maintained, spotlessly kept and routinely enhanced with updates. The structure also complimentary provides coffee, tea and popcorn. The in-unit laundry facilities are wonderfully easy for everyone residing here. The Streeter distinguishes itself among other downtown residential options through its diverse programming of social gatherings, celebrations and wellness programs. I've taken part in Super Bowl celebrations, poolside social hours featuring music, seasonal festivities with raffle prizes, yoga and fitness boot camps—all without any charge. These occasions have been an great opportunity to connect with the people in my structure. The primary factor keeping me at The Streeter is undoubtedly the amazing team. I've found them to be welcoming, attentive, genuine and committed. When I submit upkeep requests, the technicians respond swiftly and complete the work promptly. The security team greets me by name, remembers my family and friends, and that means everything to me. I appreciate feeling secure knowing the security staff watches for my arrival and alerts me whenever someone is coming to visit—it brings me peace of mind. The leadership is Pmpeccable. They're receptive, approachable and make themselves accessible for discussions. J.P. manages the property and consistently makes himself accessible for my concerns. He's attentive and genuinely cares about making every resident's experience delightful at The Streeter. He invests energy in structure relationships with tenants. I'm consistently welcomed with warmth and kindness from the mgmt team. This is exactly why I continue to renew my lease annually. For Pmpeccable service, I can't recommend The Streeter highly enough.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“We lived at the streeter for a year and I have to say the staff is the most helpful among all places I have lived so far. The building is really nice with good quality furnishings. The maintenance team if great also and very responsive. The management staff cares about your comfort and helps whenever needed. Dean Santacruz is one of the great Sales Manager and was super friendly and helping all along our process of finding the apartment to the time we moved out. We would've definitely stayed in this building longer only if we weren't moving out of state for work.Highly recommend Streeter for the quality of service, convenient location and great amenities.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I am sad I had to relocate! This was by far my favorite building to live in Chicago and I've lived in the city for 9 years. It's the only building I lived in for 3 years straight and I would have stayed longer. JP, James and the rest of the staff are absolutely outstanding. Many of the surrounding apartment buildings are overpriced or not as outstanding of an area. Go with the Streeter, you won't be disappointed.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“The Streeter has to be the best high rise in all of Chicago. Views are spectacular and unobstructed from lake to Willis tower. Very clean and quiet. Can never hear neighbors. The staff is amazing Dean and James are absolutely amazing and professional! They will help you with the moving process and answer any questions you may have. The amenities are also fantastic. If you live here you might never want to leave!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“The noise from the constant "renovation" was at times intolerable. We're semi-retired -- and if you're so, and you want relative peace and quiet, you won't find it here.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I relocated to Chicago and moved into the Streeter early 2016. I looked at many many Apt buildings as I was looking for amenities and space (open layout). Our experience has been excellent, starting with the staff. Location - could not be better - Whole Foods, Target, Movies, Massage Envy, Chiropractor, Dentist, Hospitals...all steps away from this building - not to mention many many restaurants and bars.”
The community has nice amenities, sponsors frequent events for residents, and is always clean and tidy. The apartments are overall quiet, unless there are other residents being excessively loud in the hallway or construction in process in other apartments. Our apartment has a great view of the lake as well as the Hancock building and is located close to Navy Pier, Michigan Avenue, and several different grocery stores. My only complaint lies in the neighborhood itself as it lacks restaurants and other activities for my taste. Overall, we have greatly enjoyed living at The Streeter and would definitely recommend it to others!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“Fantastic building in Chicago, 5 min walk to Michigan avenue and to Navy Pier! Lived in NYC before and the most amazing thing about this building is the community and the staff working here: they are all like friends and you will feel comfortable in this building within 5 min, it's great!!! Still living here and hope that will be for a very long time! Fantastic experience !! Gym and pool are state of the art!”
Finally I spoke to many residents who had lived here for number of years. they all said the same thing they loved the building and regretted moving, usually because they ended up purchasing something. We all have choices and I feel that this one was a good one for me.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“We have lived at other apartments but that is what they felt like, an apartment. The Streeter is amazing. The Streeter has been HOME and that is due to the management and the tone that is set by them!! The Management Team is awesome! When we first moved here we intended on staying a year or two the most, but now 7 years later we must move on to another chapter in our life and that next chapter involves leaving Chicago, otherwise we would not be leaving The Streeter. Life here has been the best. The location is amazing. The building is attractive and clean. Maintenance to housekeeping to door staff to mailroom/cleaners staff care about residents first and foremost. We love The Streeter!!!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“we recently moved in to the streeter from another village green property and although fairly happy at our previous location the streeter has welcome us to our new home. Dean at the office has been fabulous with great attention to detail and excellent customer service, so far we haven't had any complains and the staff has been good to us. more than likely to renew when our least comes up in about 1 year”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I lived at the Streeter for a year and would definitely be renewing my lease if I wasn't moving. The building is clean, modern, and has a great location and views. The gym is great and it's never too crowded, many times I had it to myself. The staff and doormen are great, always friendly and courteous. I'm gonna miss living here for sure.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“From the location, to the views, to the management staff...it has been a pleasure to be a resident here. The gym has everything needed and there enough equipment so there is no wait time. The attention of the staff is just an added bonus to this luxurious apartment building. My view includes part of Lake Michigan, a peek of the River, the Sears tower, and the NBC tower. The floor to ceiling windows. allows so much sunlight that we do not need lights on during the day.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“Originally we rented at The Streeter to have a convienient "in town" closer to my husband's work, the airport for my work and the hospital for my cancer treatments. It turned out to be such a wonderful experience we renewed the lease for an additional year. We spent so much time at the pool, health club, walking to nearby resturants, shopping and utilizing neighborhood spas that we we not using our beautiful suburban home. We ended up selling our home because the staff maintains the building at at a high level which allowed us to let go of control that home ownership gave us and just enjoy our lives. The management team and all of the staff take pride in the building. We renewed through 2016 and will most likely renew again. We love the carefree lifestyle and beautiful views. The location really works for our fast paced lives. Thanks to Management and Staff for making our lives easy. I highly recommend this building.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“My wife and I have lived here since August and are already planning to re-up our lease for another year. We love the location, the staff, and the building's amenities are incredible. I would strongly recommend this to anyone who wants to live in the city, but still have a "neighborhood feel". Also, they allow large dogs -- for those looking for a building that allows large dogs, this is a huge plus. With that being said, everything is always clean, the free coffee/tea is nice, and the workout classes (while I don't attend) are a nice perk.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I have been in the Streeter for over a month and I could not be happier that I moved here. The building is sleek and sexy, but still maintains a feeling of warmth. The leasing crew and maintenance staff have been fantastic to work with. They help make this the easiest move I have ever made. My apartment is everything I have dreamed about. I have a Million dollar view and with amenities to match. The Streeter has met and surpassed all of my expectations, and I do not see myself moving anytime soon.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“The Streeter is a decent rental building but does not stand out above any others. But many things about it I do not understand The lobby itself which should be a huge selling point is something out of 1950's.
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I am proud to say that I have lived at The Streeter from 2007 till this day. I LOVE IT!!! The first time I walked into the lobby it felt like home. The location itself is great- lakefront, Michigan Avenue, public transportation and last but not least the incredible view. I get a gorgeous view of Lake Michigan from the floor to ceiling windows. The amenities the building offers is one of a kind. The party room, business center, library, gym, pool and basketball court are are extremely nice, always clean and constantly updated and renovated. The building also offers free coffee, tea and popcorn. The washer and dryers in the unit is very accommodating for the residents. The Streeter stands apart from other rentals in the downtown area for the events, parties and classes they offer. I have attended Super Bowl parties, pool events with a DJ, holiday events with prizes, yoga and boot camp classes all free of charge. This has been a great way for me to get to know my neighbors. The #1 reason I have stayed here at The Streeter is because of the staff. I have found them to be friendly, attentive, personable and hard working. Every time I have placed a work order the engineers are efficient and the job is done in a timely manner. The doormen know my name, my family members names and my friends names and that means a lot to me. I feel very safe having the doormen see me coming home and they call me every time a visitor arrives and that also make me feel safe. The management is great. They listen and are available for discussion and very approachable. J.P. is the manager and he always has time if I have a question. He is attentive and truly wants each tenant to enjoy living at The Streeter. He takes the time to get to know the residents. I am always greeted with a smile and hello from the management office. These are reasons why I continue to resign my lease year after year. If you want great customer service I highly recommend The Streeter.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I lived at the Streeter for 4.5 years from early 2010 to mid 2014. I absolutely loved my time at the Streeter and I really felt that my apartment here became home (after I moved to Chicago from living in Atlanta for 17 years). The building's management is absolutely great; they are very accommodating, flexible, approachable, and friendly. They definitely go the extra mile to make sure you feel comfortable in the building. The doormen of the building were very friendly and welcoming every time you came home. The 24 hour maintenance in the building is on point. Anytime I needed something to be done, they were available to do it. It was a very worry-free environment. In my 4.5 years of living in my unit, I never once had a problem with any of the appliances. They keep these very up to date as people move in and out. Lastly, the location of this building is perfect from my perspective. It's right between the heart of Michigan Avenue and the Lake. It's walking distance to a LOT of good restaurants, nightlife, etc. I used to walk to work every day (the building is very close to a lot of the office buildings in the loop). Additionally, because it's a little east of Michigan avenue, it's not as busy outside the building all the time which is REALLY nice. Streeterville martians a nice neighborhoody feel while being very close / convenient to anything you would want to do in the city. I would highly recommend this building!”
Hereâ??s why I loved it there: My apartment: - Very spacious, especially the closets (I lived in a convertible first, then a studio) - Up-to-date kitchen with lots of cabinet space and dishwashers - Washer & dryer in unit (who has that in the city!?) - Floor-to-ceiling windows - Large bathroom My busy schedule: - When something was broken, I just emailed the leasing office or stopped by on my way out to work, gave them permission to enter my apartment and - bam! - when I came home from work, it was fixed, whether it was broken lightbulbs, A/C, or sink drain. - Work, print, go online anytime thanks to the 24-hour business center and library - Take work outside thanks to free WiFi on the community room patio - Coming home late was not a safety issue here thanks to the brightly lit lobby with a friendly doorman who knows my name sees me get out of a cab and makes sure I get in safely. My health & fitness: - Can't beat free yoga classes and boot camp - Train for a triathlon during winter: Treadmill, stationary bike and resistance pool - Heal an aching back in the sauna and steam room - Relax in the hot tub after a long - Read a book while floating in the pool - 2 blocks from my running route on the lake My taste buds: - D4 Irish Pub (with delivery!) and Dollop Coffee House in the building, Starbucks around the corner (and an endless array of outside dining â?? itâ??s Streeterville, after all) - Trying new local restaurants when they sell meals in the lobby 2x per week - Free coffee and tea - Free popcorn in the community room My friends: - My friends always loved hanging out in my apartment; great space, even in the studio - For larger gatherings, watching games on TV or to play pool and foosball, the community room is awesome - Renting guest suites is a great alternative to hotels for out-of-town friends if your apartment is small Other great things: - ALL the staff is awesome. Awesome! - All my neighbors, whether in the apartments surrounding mine or those I met on the elevator, were friendly and calm (no noisy partyers or annoying talkers) - If you like dogs but donâ??t have one of your own, get your puppy cuddles from all the cool neighbors who do have dogs (I loved this part.) Downsides: I honestly canâ??t think of a single thing I didnâ??t like here.
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“I have been living in the Streeter fro the past 5 years. Every time that my lease comes up I renew because I cannot find a better building for the price. With rental prices increasing around the city and the renter getting less and less for their money- the streeter has proven the exception. Not only are the facilities always being renovated and updated but the property manager is truly one of a kind. The building is flexible over many of the mishaps that life can throw a renter's way and I consider the building to be in some ways like a family. I know the doorman, property mgmt team and engineers on a first name basis. It has been wonderful living here and if anything breaks they will fix it ASAP. The only downside is that the pooldeck closes at 9pm, but this is more or less standard in the city. I highly recommend and I am very cynical and hardly give recommendations/praise to anything.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“Through the years of being at the Streeter, I have noticed it getting better and better. It was already an exceptional building, but you can tell they care to keep it that way. It is clean, the staff is friendly, the amenities cover all my needs (business center, library, grills, pool and gym with basketball and yoga). I am excited to get into a remodeled unit as well. The upgrades are gorgeous! Streeter is clean, safe, priced right and in an amazing location. Can't go wrong here.”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“so the management office here is a bunch of dysfunctional bullies. whoa, too many tenants over a certain age live here who have money and nothing better to do so they complain about everything and anything TV's in gym never work, my neighbor was charged fifty bucks for late rent when it was def not late. just another way they get more money out of you!! washers and dryers suck and are prob 20 years old and noisy as hell so don't try to do laundry if you stay home, you won't be able to hear anything. oh yeah not sure why they think their business center is so special, most of the time the computers don't work oh thanks for that convenience! cannot wait to leave here when my lease runs out this spring. yea!”
— 245 E CHICAGO AVE · Streeterville“My husband and I lived in the Streeter for four years and, although we just purchased a condo, we're sad to leave. The staff in the building is great - friendly door men and prompt maintenance people. The quality of the building is top notch. Our unit was super quiet and comfortable. I would definitely recommend the Streeter to friends looking in the Streeterville area, if for no other reason than the free coffee, the pool, and the well-equipped gym, but truly this building has it all.”
