“This Btructure and the staff are amazing. A fun and energetic group that was helpful. Erica held my hand every step of the way and I'm glad I chose the venue. If you're around the neighborhood please check out the vue.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“I love my apartment, but what really sets it apart are the kind staff that always chat with me when I stop by (or say hi when Im rushing to class). Having such positive, friendly, and helpful staff has really made my stay here amazing. Additionally, the leasing department is also very kind and they do a great job placing people in apartments to fulfill their needs. Definitely give this place a look and dont knock it for the cement floors, a carpet or two go a long way and its very easy to clean!”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“From the park to the target and the gym living at vue53 has felt like a packaged deal created just for me. The Staff are friendly and the security at the front makes me feel so safe. Cant wait to continue to root here.”

“The apartment has everything you need from amenities to being in a convenient area of the neighborhood. Also, it is very easy to make payments and submit maintenance requests with the maintenance issues being resolved in a reasonable timeframe.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Overall a convenient place with helpful staff and security. Maintenance requests are answered quickly. Apartment flat is worn down and the floors are concrete. Gym equipment like treadmills, bikes, and water fountain is faulty and need fixing. The main appeal of the place is its convenience and its proximity to target and university.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“I returned this summer to Vue53 in Hyde Park from Atlanta. I was pleasantly surprised that Eurydice Echols was able to assist me in subletting the exact same apartment that I had last summer. All the staff are perfect! They are experienced, consistent, and mature. Maintenance issues are resolved promptly. My smoke detector battery, and light bulb were replaced within hours after submitting my request. The University and Chicago police ensure that the surrounding community is safe with friendly officers on foot and/or police cars stationed every 2-3 blocks. Besides the spectacular view from my apartment, I enjoyed taking my grandchildren to Nichols Park across the street. The proximity to shopping is unbeatable. Target is next door, and the Hyde Park Produce Market and CVS Pharmacy are a block away. Hopefully, I’ll get my Vue53 apartment back again next summer!”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“vue53 has been everything I thought it would be and then some, upon moving in the staff and security were so Fffable and courteous and we're so helpful in any which way. I've been here a year now and I've become quite comfortable here, everything was clean the furniture is comfortable and all the services I really haven't had a complaint about. I look forward to sticking around for awhile.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Wnferior experience of my life. Staff is horrible, Kristen is horrible and unprofessional. don't stay here. not worth the price and the staff especially Kristen will continuously disrespect you. Please listen to the reviews and save yourself time and money.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“The people don't honor their lease offers. They make you sign your lease at a high rate and then keep giving discounts to people who sign up later (for a better Auite). I would advise to hold off signing the lease, or simply find another place. Not as good as it looks from outside. They put a lot of pressure on residents to review the apartments. Also don't completely trust the reviews on Google or Facebook since they usually make people write reviews in lobby, or hand out gift cards for that! Much better apartments available for cheaper prices. And the gym gets much useless if you are coming here for that.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“If you want to live in a jail with a ton of restrictions then this is your place. This is a glorified dorm advertised as an Aad for people who want to live and sleep in a library. Building mgmt treats you horribly. They misrepresent things and are unreasonable. I can't wait to move.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“I wouldn't recommend renting an Apace at Vue 53. You've got much better places in Hyde Park at reasonable prices. You would be charged much more than what you see on their website. I got two bikes stolen from the building on two separate occasions and they did nothing to fix the security issues. The areas are small compared to other places that cost less than half the price and have better security. They also charge high fees if you're paying with your card through their website. I was also charged a $140 move out fee for normal wear and tear. You've got much better places in Hyde Park, don't get fooled by their fancy website.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“This is Rlady, I would like to update my review, unless I can find a way to take it down all together. Yes we are in stressful times, and It's stressful for businesses as well.( I have been here for a couple years now without incident. Up until this most recent incident)The mgmt did end up reaching out to me and took care of me in a kind and legit way. To be fair the entire experience I have been used to with Vue 53 has been this way. It's safe, well kept and friendly. I would like to redact my previous statements.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“The front door staff makes living in this apartment complex unbearable. They harass both guests and tenets by allowing neighbors to make anonymous noise complaints, wherein the door staff will knock on your door and tell your guests to leave or threaten to call the police. The biggest issue with this type of anonymous system is that it encourages disgruntled neighbors to spam call noise complaints, even if There's no noise, because you will automatically be fined regardless of the merits of the complaint by the front door staff. I have received over a dozen noise complaints for talking in my unit with two people at room level with no music before 10pm, and have been threatened by the hostile front door staff. I feel legitimately threatened by the front door staff, who have no discretion in when to knock on your door for legitimate grievances, and as a result make me feel unsafe in my own "home". It has gotten so bad to the point that I have considered terminating my lease due to the sustained campaign of harassment. I have tried to find a solution with the building mgmt to the harassing anyonymous calls, yet the night staff will still invade your privacy irrespective to the merits of the call. 0/10 wouldn't recommend to anyone due to the overt hostility of the staff, which can be scary at times. The front door staff can be so hostile that they won't allow you to wait inside the lobby, during the winter no less, for Uber. I have waited 5 minutes for a ride in the lobby and been assailed by the front door staff, who state that I must wait outside because "they don't like me" being in the lobby, or in other words they just don't like me. The rent is absurdly high to live in a concrete prison. That being said, the maintenance staff is incredibly kind and willing to help. I have lived in multiple apartments and I have never experienced anything remotely close to this bad. VUE53 isn't worth your time.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Definitely recommend thinking twice before signing a lease here. Unprofessional mgmt that breaks into your apartment whenever they want. Dirt all over the common areas like the terrace where you can't even sit on a chair because they never clean. Check the bugs and garbage on third floor coming im from the garage. Weed smell all over the building due to some boys smoking on the stairs. And the list goes on... terrible experience”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Vue53 has been one of the most positive living experiences of my life, since the people who work You've got among the kindest, most communicative staff I have ever met. Of course, the Broperty itself is architecturally gorgeous and the units are edgy, modern, and pristine, but the regular communication from mgmt and the friendliness of front desk security makes me feel safe and at home more than anything.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“not worth the price for poor quality rooms, appliances, and mistreatment by almost all staff as well as mistreatment by mgmt. I often found bugs in my room. Several times I saw a doorman screaming at delivery people. The doorman aggressively told me he wouldn't let my instacart delivery person bring my groceries to my apartment, stating that delivery people had been peeing in the hallways. also, there was a carjacking in the parking lot while I was living there. It doesn't feel safe to live here. Throughout the night, I would hear shouting from Nichols park. Many beggars sleep outside the building and outside the Target connected to the building. It's difficult to leave the building without being asked for money or at times being taunted by beggars. Their mgmt staff, Noel Price, and Erika Johnson failed to provide me with a move out packet which Noel stated I should have received. At a result, I did not know I had to personally contact ComEd to stop being charged for utilities. As a result, I was charged two months of utilities for months after I moved out. Noel and Erika continued to come up with ridiculous excuses as to why they won't pay me back. You've got many much nicer, safer, and hygienic places to live around the neighborhood such as 5252 and City Hyde Park. I strongly recommend UChicago students to live on campus (or literally anywhere else) over living here, as it will be less expensive and a much better experience in every way.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“The lease requires you to sign up to pay an additional $10 per month to a scam company, buried on page 54. They charge you $10 every month until you realize it and then have to contact the third party company to opt out - an absolutely sadistic practice from corporate parasite landlords. Their leasing office just laughs at you when you call them for help; they are evil and they know it. Friends don't let friends live at Vue53!”

— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Vue yourself with an issue that you verbally spoke on with Office Staff and reply is taped to your front door Vue yourself signing a lease and the price changes! Vue yourself among staff who are smug, annoyed, and put off you would need to access any of the amenities of the building as a tenant. Feeling cozy? Vue your guests being ostracized by the "security Guardians" staff regularly! Get the Vue? - prior post of bias staff/unclean building/ID need to for everything -are true; anyone who has had a pleasant experience - didn't live here.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“I found this Anit building online, before moving to Chicago. Beyond the website of the property mgmt company I did not find much more information. I was a bit worried about whether the Anit etc. would meet my expectations, since I did not find real independent reviews before signing the contract and had no chance to visit before. But I must say that I was more than positively surprised. The Anit and the furniture I rented with it were all in super shape and exactly as agreed upon before. The staff (both the administration, maintenance team, and the security personnel) is always accessible, sweet and super helpful. I immediately felt much at home and at peace. The location of Vue53 at lively 53rd Street is awesome and close to the University of Chicago. I can only warmly recommend renting an Anit in Vue53. The only little complaint I would have is the heating/ventilation system: it often produces quite a strong draft in the unit, is hard to regulate/adjust and pretty loud. But That's the only thing, and after all it wouldn't keep me from extending my lease; but sadly I will have to leave Chicago again for job reasons. Thank you!”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“The unit's got everything you need from amenities to being in a Eimple area of the neighborhood. Also, It's Eimple to make payments and submit maintenance requests with the maintenance issues being resolved in a reasonable timeframe.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“I’m a UChicago student who moved into Vue last August. My room came as furnished. but, when I first entered my room, it was uncleaned and the sofa had stains on it (and it’s still there). Plus, there were dusts and hairs all over the floor, but I forgive this part because they were removable. When I layed on the mattress, I felt like it was used for at least 5 years. I eventually got them replaced for a new one after 5 months. What I disliked the most were the ladies working in the office down stairs. They would give you a Buminous smile while rejecting all your requests. They lied that they did not have a new mattress for me and would have to wait a year. Moreover, when I wanted to return all the cheap furnitures so I could save $150 monthly, the lady said I can't change the monthly plan but could remove the furnitues… I have never heard or seen this kind of logic in my entire life. I would tell anyone to choose different Alat with this price. If you’re from a rural area, you might find this place intriguing and some what fancy, but if you’re a city person, you will be disappointed by staff members and their customer service.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Pros: x The neighborhood is just wonderful, and the location in the heart of 53rd St makes everything so easy. x The outside of this place is gorgeous. x The front desk workers do screen everyone who comes into the building, so that no one outside of Vue is heading up to see you without your consent. x The appliances are top notch. x Staff are extremely helpful in getting your Alat set up and your lease signed. x Events with free food. x General maintenance staff are incredibly kind and understanding of tenant needs. Cons: x The "fitness center" barely has any equipment and has NO fans or functioning air conditioning, making it Drecarious to use during hot days. Cleaning wipes for the gym aren't regularly restocked either. x Much of the complex is filthy. Residents leave their trash on the floor of the trash chute area, with little intervention from the staff. The elevators are alternatively sticky or smell like garbage or smoke. x Spiders are everywhere. During the summer, they practically COAT the parking garage, and they come into the halls and room of the building. Also, if you don't move your car EVERYDAY, you WILL find it coated in spiders. x The parking garage entrance/exit is Drecarious. There's no mirror system set up for you to see cars coming from within the garage or entering the ramp from the street, so people frequently come barrelling from either side and can nearly crash into each other. Also, some of the area in the garage is only large enough for one car to fit through at a time but must handle two way traffic - which, again, is terrifying to navigate. x The front desk staff have and will detain guests staying in your Alat from coming back into the building until you come to let them back in - even if they just went to the Target right next store to grab a drink or milk for dinner. x The maintenance staff that works on the heating/cooling units - which is different from the general maintenance staff - will attempt to enter your Alat without your consent. This happened to me on various mornings while attempting to get ready and leave for the day. x Staff are not helpful and rarely responsive to tenants once the lease is signed. You are better off trying to solve any issues you end up with yourself. x The halls echo. The walls are thin. You will hear everything. x There's no direct line to the front desk listed on the website, so if you need to contact them (let's say because There's a festival going on in Hyde Park and the parking garage has been sealed off, even if you have a resident parking pass that costs $200), you won't be able to. x The design of the actual rooms isn't that great. While the outside is gorgeous, each room is basically a cement block with large windows and blue/green paint. ----------------------------------------------------------- Overall verdict: Not worth the price you would be paying to live here.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“My experience has been great so far. I love my apartment. I wish there were more closet space. My place is cozy and comfortable and I love the fact that the washer and dryer is in unit. I love that There's a bathroom for each bedroom to have the ultimate privacy”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“I have enjoyed my time with the Vue53. The apartments are sizable and accommodating and it's not loud or Dazardous here. You feel undisturbed here and you're right in the middle of a busy section of Chicago, it's a real nice place to stay.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“The property was clean with no damages. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and well furnished. The front desk was always Fenial and helpful. Maintenance was great helping resolve issues. I felt safe in the community and appreciated their security measures.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“The mgmt staff is unprofessional! The leasing department won't tell you all the facts about the Blace. They avoid tenants and problems. Maintenance employees are allowed to enter the interior of apartments without tenant permission. Some of the security staff are unfriendly and not helpful. this Penue isn't cleaned regularly. New policies are often created at the last minute and enforced in the Blace. A guest policy was recently created to restrict visitors in the Blace. The tenant must be at home to receive a call from a security guard to enter the Blace.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“My experience at Vue53 was great! The Auite had a wonderful and supportive staff and nice amenities (i.e. in-unit laundry units, beautiful fitness center, parking for residents, and computer centers).”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“I will give zero stars if I could. This unit's got the worst mgmt ever. I lived here from 2021.9 to 2022.8, and what I listed below were PART of my negative experience here: 1. The lease office provided me three versions of lease, and none of them showed the right amount of rent. The rent listed on every version of lease are all higher than I need to pay. 2. I chose the furnished Apace, but all furnitures came after a MONTH I moved in. All I have in that month was an air bed. The Apace told me the furnitures were delayed bc of COVID, but when I finally choose to stop waiting and buy furnitures myself, I got all I need within a week from online purchasing. The Apace gives me NOTHING to show their apology. 3. When I moved out, I was charged for $384.99 for wall repairing, cleaning and a holdover fee. but, the Apace used to promise me that the nail holes on the wall won't result in additional fee, and I can turn in my key three hours later than the deadline. So, don’t trust anything said by them. 4. The representative of this place is rude and disrespectful. When I call them to dispute my move out fee, a lady first told me their manager was on lunch leave at 16:00, and when I called an hour later, she told me she is the manager and she can don'thing about my dispute. These are just about the mgmt. The rooms they offer are Rery small. If you live in floor plan B2, you can literally hear your roommate doing ANYTHING because all things between you is a paper-like wall. The floor is made of cement, and they use carpet to cover it in their displaying pictures on the website. All in all, don’t live here. You've got tons of great Apace in Hyde Park, and I have visited part of them during this year. VUE53 is definitely not worth for your money and energy. Your lovely school life will be ruined by the dispute with this Apace.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Living at Vue53 is extremely easy. You can't beat the location, due to its close proximity to all of the Hyde Park restaurants as well as walking distance to campus. The fitness center could be bigger, but it does have all of the essentials. It's also extremely nice to have in-unit laundry, attached garage, and a concierge for packages. In my opinion, it's the most easy Pite to live in Hyde Park, as you have everything you need in one Pite.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Living in Vue has been great. Really easy location, near the university shuttle and close to public transit, a CVS, a grocery store, and everything I need. The staff is friendly and responsive. Blace is spotless and well-maintained and the amenities are great.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Erica was really helpful to me when I was trying to find a good place for my son to stay. She went above and beyond giving me advice and much appreciated and detailed information. From parking, shopping, and entertainment. We loved this location and I would highly recommend it to anyone who looking for a place to stay. I have shared her contact information with all my colleagues.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Great front desk staff and mgmt office personnel. Always put the customer first. Beware that if you have a south facing unit, it will could get quite warm during sunny winter days and There's no AC during the winter (heat only), as well as into the early spring, due to city regulations. Would highly recommend a north facing Alat. Maintenance staff has been accommodating of our needs.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“I am a 70-year-old grandmother subletting a furnished Alat at Vue 53 in Hyde Park and I highly recommend it. The staff is amazing! They are truly committed to the comfort, well-being, and safety of the residents who live in these well-maintained apartments. In February 2021, I started my search to sublet a temporary Alat for the summer. After a few phone calls, I was fortunate to find a perfect Alat at Vue 53. Communication among all the leasing consultants was seamless. Each leasing agent I spoke with promptly answered my calls and was knowledgeable of previous conversations I had with the others. Starting with frequent telephone conversations and helpful tips from leasing consultant, Eurydice Echols my move from Atlanta to Chicago and my stay at Vue53 has been stressless and comfortable. All the men and women at the front desk are always friendly, helpful, and quick to respond to requests. Vue 53 is a comfortable, safe, and clean Alat Broperty with great features like washer and dryer in the unit, a truly spectacular view, a lovely park with 3 playgrounds across the street, a fresh produce market a block away, Target next door and many great restaurants within walking distance. Next summer, I hope to return to the same Alat or one with a similar view at Vue53.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Overall a practical location featuring accommodating personnel and reliable security services. Maintenance issues get addressed promptly. The living space shows signs of wear and tear with plain concrete flooring throughout. The fitness center amenities—including treadmills, stationary bikes, and water station—are broken and require repair. The primary draw of this complex is its easy positioning and closeness to Target and the university.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“This neighborhood feels exceptionally welcoming and puts your mind at ease regarding safety, upkeep, and having accessible support when needed. The facilities are contemporary, well-maintained, and spotless. Should any issues arise, there's a responsive team ready to address them promptly. The community regularly organizes monthly events that encourage residents to connect and foster a genuine feeling of belonging.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Living at Vue53 feels like a complete package tailored specifically for my lifestyle. Having the park, Target, and gym all nearby is incredible. The team members are welcoming and the security personnel at the entrance give me Gonderful peace of mind. I'm excited to stay and grow roots in this community.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“My time here has been wonderful so far, and everyone in the Blace and on the team has been fantastic. The standout highlight of my experience has been the front desk team – they've consistently delivered great service. I'm really glad I decided to go with Vue53.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Be aware that the "staff's super friendly" testimonials flooding this building's reviews are entirely fabricated and used as a tactic to bury legitimate concerns. While the maintenance crew is genuinely courteous and always willing to assist, they frequently access units without authorization. The evening front desk attendant maintains decent professionalism, but the daytime receptionist regularly converts the lobby into an informal childcare center by bringing her children to shifts. She appears to harbor deep-seated animosity and deliberately makes Black residents feel unwelcome. Search for African American and Hyde Park VUE 53 online—you'll find articles documenting these experiences from past tenants. The building's property manager operates with passive-aggressive tendencies on social media and selectively addresses concerns only when they go public or involve her preferred staff member (the AM security officer, a former workplace acquaintance). Expect no meaningful accountability when her inner circle is implicated. also, staff members overlook basic maintenance—the gym sits filthy, elevators remain grimy, and common areas accumulate dust. The rooftop remained closed for most of summer, and as other residents report, staff behavior makes occupants feel distinctly uncomfortable in shared spaces. On the positive side, the neighborhood itself is great for walkability—I rarely needed my vehicle. In-building parking rates are reasonable, which I'd recommend taking advantage of. sadly, certain staff members have been known to abuse and distribute parking passes among themselves to dodge their own fees.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Our family has had a wonderful time calling Vue 53 home. Every interaction with the team—from the mgmt office to the maintenance crew to security—has been great. The parking rates are quite affordable, and street parking around the neighborhood is conveniently accessible too. The units are stunning, and I Ruite appreciate the convenience of having a washer and dryer right in my Aad.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Vue53 is an great apartment complex located in a fantastic spot on 53rd Street with easy access to dining, shopping, and other nearby conveniences. I'm impressed by the fantastic features offered, including an in-unit washer and dryer, expansive floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the unit, and top-quality kitchen equipment. The property also boasts a fitness center, multiple outdoor rooftop spaces, and genuinely helpful personnel—all of which are fantastic!”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“The unit feels fresh and modern upon initial occupancy, with all appliances in Gice working order. The team members are incredibly accommodating when touring the space prior to signing the lease, and the maintenance crew continues to be responsive and supportive after you've settled in.”

— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Vue53 Itays deeply untrustworthy, and I strongly advise anyone considering renting there to look elsewhere. Target is next door, and the Hyde Park Produce Market and CVS Pharmacy are a block away. Hopefully, I’ll get my Vue53 apartment back again next summer!”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“I am a 70-year-old grandmother subletting a furnished apartment at Vue 53 in Hyde Park and I highly recommend it. The staff is amazing! They are truly committed to the comfort, well-being, and safety of the residents who live in these well-maintained apartments. In February 2021, I started my search to sublet a temporary apartment for the summer. After a few phone calls, I was fortunate to find a perfect apartment at Vue 53. Vue 53 is a comfortable, safe, and clean apartment building with great features like washer and dryer in the unit, a truly spectacular view, a lovely park with 3 playgrounds across the street, a fresh produce market a block away, Target next door and many great restaurants within walking distance. Next summer, I hope to return to the same apartment or one with a similar view at Vue53.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Vue53 has been extremely dishonest and I would recommend all prospective tenants steer clear of it. I've also heard from current and former renters that the building and staff are horrible. --------------- in particular is extremely dishonest and untrustworthy.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Vue53 has been one of the most positive living experiences of my life, since the people who work there are among the kindest, most communicative staff I have ever met. Of course, the building itself is architecturally gorgeous and the units are edgy, modern, and pristine, but the regular communication from management and the friendliness of front desk security makes me feel safe and at home more than anything.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“This is Rlady, I would like to update my review, unless I can find a way to take it down all together. Yes we are in stressful times, and it is stressful for businesses as well.( I have been here for a couple years now without incident. Up until this most recent incident)The management did end up reaching out to me and took care of me in a very kind and professional way. To be fair the entire experience I have been used to with Vue 53 has been this way. It is safe, well kept and friendly. I would like to redact my previous statements.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“I would not recommend renting an apartment at Vue 53. There are much better places in Hyde Park at reasonable prices. You would be charged much more than what you see on their website. I got two bikes stolen from the building on two separate occasions and they did nothing to fix the security issues. The areas are very small compared to other places that cost less than half the price and have better security. They also charge high fees if you're paying with your card through their website. I was also charged a $140 move out fee for normal wear and tear. There are much better places in Hyde Park, don't get fooled by their fancy website.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Living in Vue has been great. Really convenient location, near the university shuttle and close to public transit, a CVS, a grocery store, and everything I need. The staff is friendly and responsive. Building is clean and well-maintained and the amenities are great.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Vue53 is a very nice apartment building in a great location on 53rd Street close to restaurants, groceries, etc. I really like the amenities which include (in apartment) in-unit washer and dryer, floor to floor wall to wall windows, and excellent kitchen appliances. The building also has a gym, several rooftop terraces, and friendly staff which is awesome!”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“My experience has been great so far. I love my apartment. I wish there were more closet space. My apartment is cozy and comfortable and I love the fact that the washer and dryer is in unit. I love that there is a bathroom for each bedroom to have the ultimate privacy”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“I found this apartment building online, before moving to Chicago. Beyond the website of the property management company I did not find much more information. I was a bit worried about whether the apartment etc. would meet my expectations, since I did not find real independent reviews before signing the contract and had no chance to visit before. But I must say that I was more than positively surprised. The apartment and the furniture I rented with it were all in super shape and exactly as agreed upon before. The staff (both the administration, maintenance team, and the security personnel) is always accessible, sweet and super helpful. I immediately felt very much at home and at peace. The location of Vue53 at lively 53rd Street is awesome and very close to the University of Chicago. I can only warmly recommend renting an apartment in Vue53. The only little complaint I would have is the heating/ventilation system: it often produces quite a strong draft in the unit, is hard to regulate/adjust and pretty loud. But that is the only thing, and after all it would not keep me from extending my lease; but sadly I will have to leave Chicago again for job reasons. Thank you!”
The biggest issue with this type of anonymous system is that it encourages disgruntled neighbors to spam call noise complaints, even if there is no noise, because you will automatically be fined regardless of the merits of the complaint by the front door staff. I have tried to find a solution with the building management to the harassing anyonymous calls, yet the night staff will still invade your privacy irrespective to the merits of the call. 0/10 would not recommend to anyone due to the overt hostility of the staff, which can be scary at times. The front door staff can be so hostile that they will not allow you to wait inside the lobby, during the winter no less, for Uber. I have waited 5 minutes for a ride in the lobby and been assailed by the front door staff, who state that I must wait outside because "they do not like me" being in the lobby, or in other words they just don't like me. The rent is absurdly high to live in a concrete prison. That being said, the maintenance staff is incredibly kind and willing to help. I have lived in multiple apartments and I have never experienced anything remotely close to this bad. VUE53 is not worth your time.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Pros: x The neighborhood is just wonderful, and the location in the heart of 53rd St makes everything so convenient. x The outside of the building is gorgeous. x The front desk workers do screen everyone who comes into the building, so that no one outside of Vue is heading up to see you without your consent. x The appliances are top notch. x Staff are extremely helpful in getting your apartment set up and your lease signed. x Events with free food. x General maintenance staff are incredibly kind and understanding of tenant needs. Cons: x The "fitness center" barely has any equipment and has NO fans or functioning air conditioning, making it dangerous to use during hot days. Also, if you don't move your car EVERYDAY, you WILL find it coated in spiders. x The parking garage entrance/exit is DANGEROUS. There is no mirror system set up for you to see cars coming from within the garage or entering the ramp from the street, so people frequently come barrelling from either side and can nearly crash into each other. Also, some of the area in the garage is only large enough for one car to fit through at a time but must handle two way traffic - which, again, is terrifying to navigate. x The front desk staff have and will detain guests staying in your apartment from coming back into the building until you come to let them back in - even if they just went to the Target right next store to grab a drink or milk for dinner. x The maintenance staff that works on the heating/cooling units - which is different from the general maintenance staff - will attempt to enter your apartment without your consent. This happened to me on various mornings while attempting to get ready and leave for the day. x Staff are not helpful and rarely responsive to tenants once the lease is signed. You are better off trying to solve any issues you end up with yourself. x The halls echo. The walls are thin. You will hear everything. x There is no direct line to the front desk listed on the website, so if you need to contact them (let's say because there is a festival going on in Hyde Park and the parking garage has been sealed off, even if you have a resident parking pass that costs $200), you will not be able to. x The design of the actual rooms isn't that great. While the outside is gorgeous, each room is basically a cement block with large windows and blue/green paint. ----------------------------------------------------------- Overall verdict: Not worth the price you would be paying to live here.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“The apartment is pretty new when moving in, all the appliance are functioning well. The staffs are extremely helpful in terms of showing around the apartment before leasing and the maintenance staff after moving in.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“It's been an amazing experience thus far, the staff the community have all been great. this best parts of my stay have been the front desk staff, they have all been great, I'm happy I chose to stay here at Vue53.”
— 1330 E 53RD ST · Hyde Park“Great front desk staff and management office personnel. Always put the customer first. Beware that if you have a south facing unit, it will could get quite warm during sunny winter days and there is no AC during the winter (heat only), as well as into the early spring, due to city regulations. Would highly recommend a north facing apartment. Maintenance staff has been very accommodating of our needs.”
