“Would not recommend staying at CityPlace Montrose. Main issues below: - Mold: Attaching photos from professional mold inspection. There was mold in my unit and when discovered, management refused to remediate the issue. When I asked to be let out of my lease since they did not want to remediate the issue, they informed me that I would be responsible for the rent until the end of my lease. - Management: Whenever there was an issue (key fob not working, locked out of the building on the coldest night of the year, mold in the unit, etc.) I would reach out to management through call/email with no response. They would call at random times, I would inform them that I am working and would appreciate if they could provide a response through email. When I would follow up, they could not recall any phone conversation. Also, I was charged upon move out for indents in the carpet due to furniture. Not a stained carpet but charged so the company could essentially vacuum a few times to remove dents in the carpet that are due to normal furniture placement after a year. I have never heard of that charge before so it seems to be a money grab. - Infrastructure (not something that can be changed but an important note): the construction quality was poor. It sounded as if my upstairs neighbors were filming a Stomp The Yard sequel throughout the day, but it was due to the flooring, not practicing a new dance sequence. If you have a package delivered outside of working hours (11-5:30 M-F), you will need to meet with the delivery person outside since there is no way for them to enter the building, no dedicated package room, and management does not hold packages. I've had a few packages stolen unfortunately and the response was "ship the package somewhere else". Management was notified of these many issues and did nothing to remediate them which is the focus of my review. No place is perfect but customer service and ability to resolve issues is important. CityPlace Montrose failed in that aspect. I've lived in a variety of apartment complexes and residences across 4 states in the past decade and I can confirm that this was my worst experience by far.”

“I applied to live here and the process took almost two weeks. I called constantly for updates because I am short on time. It was made clear my application was of no importance to them. In the end I was denied and the reasoning was absurd. A simple phone call prior to denial could have cleared up the confusion. I presented them with everything they asked for. Jessica the assistant manager was very short and snippy with me. I even offered to pay six months of rent upfront, or the entire lease if I had too. But clearly the issue isn't with the money, it was with me. Mahi was very pleasant, and was supposed to be helping me but I stopped hearing from her three days in. Not sure if discrimination against my age or race took part in this decision. Do not apply unless you want to lose $75 and time.”

The grounds are well kept, and the Morgan Management is First Class, as they operate with much professionalism. This is Boutique Living At Its Best!”

— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“Location, location, location!!! We just moved in about a month ago and we absolutely love it, everything is in walking distance, the staff is super friendly. The Apartment is spacious and great. We love sitting out on our balcony.”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“City Place is always very clean and accommodating. The leasing agents are very helpful as well as the maintenance staff. The location is great as well- there are many places in walking distance. The quality of the apartment is good. Everything seems to have stayed in tact and I’ve been living here for over a year now.”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“I have lived at City Place for almost 2 years. Come June it’ll be the full 2 years. When I moved in it was under a different management. A new one took over last year but both managements have been amazingly wonderful. The staff is wonderful and sweet. The location is close to many things to do. I love how the new management has hosted events and fun things to do for us to mingle with our neighbors. Last but not least I love how sincere the management is. When I was sick last year and was released to come home from the hospital, the team sent me Tiffs Treats with a get well soon card. Definitely recommend this place.”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“Location is perfect. Quick access to I-59, 1-45. There are many restaurants and bars within walking distance. Tree lined streets in the neighborhood make walking enjoyable. Amenities are great and the staff is fantastic!”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“City Place is a great location that is easily accessible to most of Houston and is just a few blocks away from great bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and pretty much anything else you need! The gym is great and not often busy, and the apartment management is very kind and inclusive of the community”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“I’ve been at City Place for about 6 months now and I really like it! I moved from LA, and the location is really good and central to a lot of places I frequent. Although it can get loud sometimes on the weekends with traffic and people who are going out for the weekends, my curtains do a good enough job to mask it out so I can sleep. It’s spacious for one person and I rarely hear my neighbors. The staff is polite and maintenance works quickly.”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“This is the best place I have lived at my my adulthood! Michael is awesome, Bianca is amazing, and Luz is adorable! They definitely give AAA service. Thank you so much for all that you do for us, and for providing such fun events for the residents to mingle at! 10/10 would recommend.”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“Staff (especially Michael) have been very helpful since our move-in about 2 months ago. I like the unit and maintenance requests are taken care of promptly. Security is good so far, and noise is not terrible (for the area and proximity to bars/restaurants, you’re bound to have some noise. In my opinion it’s not terrible here)”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“My husband and I love our new apartment. Our pup loves to take walks outside and enjoys the grass and well maintained property. The salt water pool and proximity to nice places to eat is a plus. The location is great right in Montrose!”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“Horrible property management. ------------ is the absolute worst and a huge rip off! Water bill was $160 for two months and they sent me to a collection agency. Racist staff treated me differently when my automobile was damaged and only fixed the gate when a White residents automobile was damaged. General manager is kind but staff is a barrage of haphazzard idiots with no sense of good business practices.”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“If you want to live in Midtown, live at City Place! Friendly staff, great location only blocks away from the Midtown bar scene, with grocery and liquor stores, pharmacies and restaurants nearby. The amenities are top-notch.”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“Im not very happy with my choice to live here. I wish there were more amenities, the appliances are old. Its noisy on the weekends, and my most recent experience of not receiving my packages has been disappointing and frustrating.”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“Pros: Awesome location, super friendly and responsive staff, and amazing aesthetics. The place is well maintained and clean. Rent is well priced and competitive for the floor plans and layouts. Literally everything (restaurants, bars, groceries, parks, banks, dentist, etc.) is walking distance. Love living here! Cons: Given the prime location, it is busy outside during the day/evening which is a tradeoff to comprehend before making the decision to rent here. Also, while it is a double-gated community for entry by foot or car, a recent security incident left three vehicles in the parking garage with all four wheels missing - guess crime has no address after all.”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“I love coming home to City Place Midtown, the staff is incredibly friendly and the management feels like family. With the unforeseen winter storm and mid pandemic fears I feel like City Place took it upon themselves to provide the possible service and guidance for the best possible outcome. I am very impressed with Greystar Management but I am astounded by my friends here at City Place Midtown, they remind me that this is my home.”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“City Place is the best community in Midtown. The staff is experienced and professional. The community is well maintained and beautiful. The community is quiet and respectful. Barely hear any of the Midtown happenings!”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“Move-in experience was very smooth. I was able to recycle the boxes at the leasing office. The studio apartment is very clean and functional when I moved in. I like that the amenities building is in a separate building so that I can do more steps.”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“Move-in experience was very smooth. I was able to recycle the boxes at the leasing office. The studio apartment is very clean and functional when I moved in. I like that the amenities building is in a separate building so that I can do more steps. The location is across the street from Walgreens, 7 min walk from Randalls grocery store, and a 5 min walk from Whole Foods Midtown. The metro train is a 7-minute walk too.”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“Great! The location is amazing, and the apartment finishes and layout are all amazing as well. The leasing staff is incredibly friendly and made the leasing process super easy. I am glad to have made City Place my home.”
— 306 Mcgowen St · Houston“I just moved in about a week ago. The grounds are extremely well kept and clean. I love the location and my apartment. I wish there were more community events to allow everyone to meet. I havent seen anyone in the building since moving here.”
