Unit 2A Pros: It had laundry and dish washer in unit, which was pretty sweet. Cons: Oh my god where to begin? What’s the character limit? - They tricked me into taking a different unit than the one I’d viewed. - We didn’t have hot water for two entire months…in January and February. - We were often without heat in the winter. - There were roaches everywhere. - The neighbors upstairs were insane. They had kids that they let run around and scream at any hour of the night. They left their sink running and it made our ceiling cave in and ruined our couch. Management of course didn’t fix the ceiling for months. - We didn’t have a stove/oven for the whole first month. - The radiators freaked out at one point and turned the entire apartment into a sauna. The humidity ruined several electrical appliances and any artwork on the walls, and it made our drywall crack and crumble. - An old woman next door was in need of several electrical appliances for health needs, and she for some reason was without electricity very often, though she was up to date on her ConEd bills. Also, one time she asked me to come into her apartment to “look at something weird” and the “weird” thing was that her walls were leaking orange goo. (I wish I was making this up.) - I had to threaten to sue via a lawyer to get my security deposit back, even though I left everything pristine. I feel like I’m probably leaving something out, but you get the picture. Living here was hell. Advice to landlord: Sell your building to someone who actually gives half a crap, or go get a heart transplant and hope that your next heart comes with a little bit of empathy.
