We waited 3 months for an apartment to open up at the Colorado. Our G apartment faces NE, away from the construction, and we get sun in our bedroom in the morning. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and very quick to fix things. The layout is incredible, making it feel spacious, and the kitchen is beautiful, with Granite countertops and a Gas Stove. The quality of the building is very high - I believe the building was built in the 1980s. The location is also top-notch: 1 block from the subway, barnes and noble, best buy, circuit city, 2 movie theaters, and lots of great food.

We signed a lease in July 2006 for a one bedroom 650 sq ft apartment on a middle floor for $2650 a month. A year later, the management had increased the rent 17% to $3100 a month. To give you an idea of how ridiculously inflated those prices are: a top floor apartment on the 39th floor was available for $3100 a month in July of 2006.

The staff maintaining the building is very professional and friendly. The biggest problem with living at the Colorado from July 2006 to July 2007 was the demolition and construction of the Brompton condominiums on the corner of 86th and 3rd ave. The noise is at times unbearable, and the city has been notified several times that the construction crew is beginning before 7am and is violating their building permit.

The quality of life at the Colorado doesn't meet my expectations of a $3000 a month apartment.
