Pros: Incredibly spacious apartments, wonderful staff, and amazing amenities. Cons: They hike the rent like crazy AND somehow have it twisted so they charge more for a longer term rental. Advice to landlord: Stop charging more for long term rentals. It’s ridiculous and abnormal.

ZERO STARS FOR JERRY/GERRY(?) IF I COULD!! DISCLAIMER: I have been emailing with the senior manager who was very apologetic about my experience this morning. Five stars for him and Alan, another member of the Ashlyn staff who was actually helpful and showed me around the building and apologized for his colleague's erratic behavior. ANOTHER DISCLAIMER: This isn't a review of the building or my time living here - I was a prospective tenant. Long story short (maybe not so short), I was scheduled to tour the Ashlyn and the Ashley, an affiliated building less than a block away. I didn't know until I got there that this was supposed to be a self guided tour, but didn't mind it at all since the Ashley seemed very prepared and gave me a folder with all relevant information and a schedule. Per the schedule, I was supposed to walk to the Ashlyn to tour another unit there. Once there, I tell Jerry/Gerry that I am here for a tour. He apparently didn't have me on whatever schedule. He insisted that the Ashley isn't allowed to send people here for tours and that he needed a heads up (even though they are affiliated buildings). I asked him if there was someone he could call/ask, check if there was a key in the back because I was told that I had a second tour here and even showed him the schedule that was given to me. He refused to call anyone and said that there was no one to call. At this point, I was growing increasingly frustrated because he just didn't seem to be willing to help or problem solve. I step out to call a general leasing office number, who also didn't seem to know what was going on and decided to go back to the Ashley and see if the concierge there could help me. The Ashley team called someone at the Ashlyn (Alan picked up at this point and not Jerry/Gerry) who indeed told me that they were expecting me. I walk over to the Ashlyn, again, and see that Jerry/Gerry DOES INDEED NOW have a key for me. At this point, I've probably wasted 15-20 mins and had another showing in the area in like 15 mins. I ask Jerry/Gerry, "what changed/what happened that now I am presented with a key for a self guided tour?" This is when he FREAKS OUT at me and yells that "he doesn't want to do this with me now. That I should just calm down since now I have my key, that I was being unreasonable, he was just given the key, etc., etc. (mind you he's the one who's yelling at me)." I was just so absolutely shocked that I was being yelled out by someone manning the front desk, someone whose job description is literally to be hospitable and be client facing. Look, maybe he took my question the wrong way, but his first reaction shouldn't have been to yell at me. It should have been to apologize/explain that there was a miscommunication, etc. Anything but yelling would have been great. Instead, he decided that it was a good decision to yell at a prospective tenant in a full lobby with other people. Needless to say, I am no longer interested in renting a unit from the Ashlyn (beautiful building though). Why would I pay $$$ and risk the possibility of dealing with Jerry/Gerry again, who clearly cannot manage a client facing job or his emotions? I just thought I would give other people, like me who work long hours during the week and can only view apartments during the weekend, a heads up. I would recommend 1) to ask for an actual tour (not self guided) so you don't have to deal with Jerry/Gerry - but then again I figure most people do have jobs that they need to go to to be able to afford NYC's crazy rent prices, 2) if you're visiting both buildings, make sure that both buildings know what is happening or 3) just avoid Jerry/Gerry and see if you can interact with literally anyone else instead. Perhaps he's only pleasant to current tenants - I cannot imagine how he is able to keep this job if this is his character. Thanks Jerry/Gerry for making the stressful NYC apartment hunting experience so much more stressful and traumatic!!

Great area with access to Riverside Park, Hudson River and Lincoln Center. Shuttles in the am/pm add access to subways. Area can get very windy and extreemly cold in the winter. Looking forward to new grocery opening in neighborhood soon.

The building is great and clean and if everything is working in your apartment, then all is well. However, if anything breaks, they basically won't/can't do anything to resolve the situation. I haven't had a working washing machine in 2 months even though I'm clearly paying the rent for it and no one seems to care. Management is all really sweet and if you call they'll be very pleasant and will tell u they'll take care of everything but they don't actually do anything to take care of it.

The Aldyn is an excellent community, well staffed and well appointed with outstanding amenities. The neighbourhood surrounding the community needs more markets, restaurants and everyday conveniences. These are starting to fill in, but not soon enough.

Good quality ... friendly staff...However, area is still developing so don't expect vibrant restaurants or cafes and a lot of shopping options in immediate proximity. But all available in walking distance (15min).

We moved in to the Aldyn about 6 month ago and we finally feel at home. The building staff is beyond, the doormen are very professional and super kind, and the lease office is wonderful, always available and helpful. Not to mention the amenities, that are the top we`ve seen so far in the city. As a sporty family this is very important for us and we`re very satisfied. Much recommended!
