“Pros: Good amenities and super fixes things pretty quick. Cons: Other people in the building had no respect for the staff and would leave dog poop in the hallways. Appliances in the unit are pretty old and not great for what they charge in rent. Very high utility bills because the AC and heater aren’t very efficient and the ceilings and high with large glass windows.”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Unit 216 Pros: The building has a a lot of amenities and the apartments are large. Cons: The management here sucks and the laundry constantly smells like mold. Advice to landlord: Hire different management”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Unit 301 Pros: This space is clean, monthly maintenance comes for pest control. The super Cruz will take care of you as fast as possible and always did his best to get the job done. Cons: Shared laundry is annoying because other people in the building would take your things out before it was done. We were living in a "3 bedroom" but the third bedroom didn't have a window and there was zero air circulation so in the summer the apartment would sometimes be 85/90 degrees. Advice to landlord: Redo the window AC units that don't work. Put in an elevator that is up to code.”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Laundry is cheap. Amenities are good, we love the roof. Cons: Elevator always broken. Mail room not organized. Advice to landlord: Fix elevator”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Responsive super, good amenities although not maintained well Cons: They refused to give us back our security deposit claiming damage to the apartment but would not release any receipts or lists of repairs/costs. Then they served us to take us to court for further damages, reported us for non-payment to damage our credit (we disputed and won) and they never showed up to court so the case was thrown out.”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: The amenities are awesome here. The rooftop is THE BEST selling point to living here. Having a decent gym, indoor pool, and sauna is great. The hot tub does not work and the fire pit doesn't either. Honestly there are worse places. Mr. Cruz the maintenance man and the rest of the maintenance team is amazing. Cons: It's really loud if you have a street facing unit. The AC unit in one bedroom never worked and we put in a work order to no avail. There is mold in the bathroom and we have brought it up to management multiple times. The elevator is always have issues. Advice to landlord: Communication could really be better and having a direct number to call when there are issues would solve A LOT of issues. Steamline service requests as well.”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: I've lived here for almost a year now - lots of renovation being done - have not encountered a rat yet - lovely new rooftop environment - in building laundry machines - pool and small gym in the basement - each room has an combination AC/Heater Cons: - it looks like the rent is being raised to at least $3000 (for new applicants at least) - last minute notice of building changes (when they re-did the laundry room, they moved to a different payment system & I still had money left on my now useless laundry card) - some of the neighbors are gross or loud (I've literally found a large puddle of pee in one of the stairwells once. and someone on the first floor is often yelling at their kids) - this is more of a neighborhood issue than a building issue but there is so much dog poop being left on the sidewalk so you have to be careful where you step Advice to landlord: Give at least a week advance of changes. And email these notices in addition to posting them at the door of the building.”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: My unit was very nice and they added nice amenities on the roof Cons: They redid the interior of the common areas in a very haphazard and slow way Advice to landlord: Re-do hallways floor-by-floor so they don’t sit unfinished for months”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: -Great management -Clean building and surroundings -Great amenities Cons: -Unexpected unannounced repairs Advice to landlord: Keep doing what you're doing.”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: the lobby that nobody used was kinda nice to have since i had ibs and used the bathroom when i didn't want to go in my own apartment :) i also loved the sauna Cons: I did not like how the pool was closed all the time.. also the hot tub NEVER worked. False advertising!!!! Advice to landlord: please answer your calls more often thank you.”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Great amenities in the building Cons: Restriction times for some amenities”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: When the hot tub works, I lived here with friends at the time Cons: Loft space is basically unusable, had things that remained unfixed after bothering them multiple times, amenities were frequently closed. People frequently hosted parties on the rooftop which got very loud and disruptive to other residents Advice to landlord: Get better building security.”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Carnegie Management collected an illegal good faith deposit before sending the lease agreement for me to review. When I didn't like the terms of the lease, which includes an illegal stipulation that they wouldn't repair any appliances already installed on the apartment, they refused to return my deposit and allow me to continue my apartment search. Good faith deposits are illegal under the Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act of 2019.”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Building utilities when they’re available Landlord response time Good pest control Cons: Amenities often out of order. Water pressure not the best. Not responsive when dealing with parking spot issues”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: gym, pool, roof, lounge area, sauna are very nice Cons: sometimes the hallways smell a little funky”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Pool, sauna, and gym are nice amenities especially now that things are reopening. The roof has amazing views of the city. Balconies are a great outdoor space albeit not as nice as a luxury building. Cons: Building is inhabited by a lot of fresh out of college kids, who don’t know how to take out trash. There were water leaks from the ceiling that led to mold growing and cracks in the ceiling. Management didn’t think it was a big deal. The heater / AC unit is ancient and sounds like a jet engine. Somehow there is a 3rd “bedroom” in the loft above the kitchen, which is not a great living situation. Since the pandemic, people have been stealing packages and bicycles from the shared areas. Some walls are paper thin and bedroom doors are closet doors. Really odd spaces. Also windows are obscenely tall such that no curtains can block out the sun (140” is a lot) Advice to landlord: Please take the water leaks more seriously, the ceiling looks like it could collapse on someone.”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Centrally located, train and bus 2 blocks away, lots of bars and restaurants, diverse neighborhood, amenities well maintained and not busy no matter the time of day or year Cons: Mailroom thieves, “Virtual” doorman, Pool hours can constantly change without notice Advice to landlord: Consistent realistic pool hours would be appreciated as well as newer more efficient laundry machines. Swimming classes would be appreciated for adults and not just the children when the pandemic is over.”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Amenities, a lot of young creative minds Cons: messy, smells bad, AC kept crapping out on hot days. No AC in Loft/Living room makes it basically unusable in summer Advice to landlord: install AC in living room/loft”
— 342 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Okay pricing. Great super. Cons: Refused to return my security deposit nearly $5000. Hot tub was broken more often than working. Sauna often broken. AC units often broken. Advice to landlord: Give an itemized list of expenses if you’re going to refuse to give back someone’s security deposit. Deposit was nearly $5000.”
