“Pros: Management was responsive. Cons: People smoke in building hallways.”
— 525 EAST 21 STREET · Brooklyn“Unit B2 Pros: Rent stabilized, laundry in unit, accidental heated coat closet due to pipe placements Cons: I don’t mind the noise but others might. During the summer there’s music playing late into the night so keep that in mind. No garbage shoot.”
— 501 EAST 21 STREET · Brooklyn“Unit 1F Pros: Francis, the super, is an angel! He takes his job seriously and is always willing to help. Unfortunately there are way too many problems for him to handle on his own. Cons: Constant mice issues, I must have killed 50 over the three years I lived there. Mail service was cutoff bc USPS deemed the mailboxes to be not properly secured. landlord took almost a year to fix. Only way to retrieve your mail was to go to the post office during a two-hour window two days a week that most people weren’t off work during. Bathtub backfilling with neighbor’s shower water and overflowing. People smoking, playing loud music and buying/selling drugs in the lobby every winter. Worst offense was after I let my ex out of the lease and started paying all the rent myself the landlord took her to housing court claiming the rent was never paid. So I had to go to court to support an ex who really didn’t want to be there (and with me) to prove the rent had all been paid. It was clear that he only did this because he knew we broke up and that she would have no way to prove that the rent had been paid. Advice to landlord: Sell the building and go into another line of work, one where your negligence doesn’t have as much of a direct impact on people’s lives”
“Pros: building itself is decent nothing special. most neighbors keep to themselves Cons: noise levels outside building are too much. have to sleep with ear plugs some nights. Advice to landlord: more responsive super”
— 501 EAST 21 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Size of units Cons: 1. Cameras don’t work. 2. Packages are constantly stolen. 3. Random people smoking and drinking in lobby who don’t even live in the building. 4. Heat is on 5-10 mins per hour during winter, which means you’re going to have to invest in electric heaters. Advice to landlord: Put up working security cameras, and hire a super who will kick out random people who party in the lobby.”
