“Pros: Big units, lots of sunshine, high ceilings Cons: Old building, owners not willing to put in work or make changes”
— 916 CARROLL STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Close to trains, Park, Gardens, Museum. Some really nice neighbors. Cons: Some real sketchass neighbors. Super barely does anything, and isn't allowed to unless the supersketchy management company allows it (good luck with that). The true owner/management company is the absolute worst: Pinnacle / scumbag Joel Wiener. Building is rife with mold, roaches and also mice. Garbage situation is a nightmare. Package theft is constant. The elevator and heat goes off constantly, and the absence of it is used to harass tenants. The heat is definitely controlled remotely by Pinnacle (so the super can't correct it, even when it's below legal standards). Pinnacle also installed really sketchy video cameras all over the buildings public areas, which they've used to actively watch tenants. The block parties are a neighborhood vibe, but some of the amateur DJs need to understand that not everyone wants to hear that crap outside their window all night long. Advice to landlord: Sell your properties and let someone decent maintain them. You are terrible people.”
— 916 CARROLL STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Great location and neighborhood. Cons: Unit and apartment was full of German roaches. As of June 2025, you could see German roaches on walls during the day. Dead roaches in ovens, coming from light fixtures, through the door crevices. Roach feces turns hallway walls brown. Management behalves like slum lords. Long term residents said this used to be a nice building 30 years ago…but they aren’t serious about extermination and need to hire more than one person to clean two buildings. I’m truly scarred from my experience living here. I couldn’t eat Advice to landlord: Stop behaving like slum lords. Do the guy extermination needed to get rid of the building wide German Roach infestation. Hire more than one person to clean TWO buildings. How do you sleep at night?”
“Pros: Nice spacious apartment on a lovely quiet block. Rent stabilized. Cons: We got bed bugs 3 times in 5 years, they need to treat the whole building but they won’t so they keep popping up.”
— 916 CARROLL STREET · Brooklyn“Unit 3H Pros: Near the pRk Cons: Rodents and pests everywhere”
— 916 CARROLL STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Lovely neighbours Great location Cons: Pest control is slow”
— 916 CARROLL STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: - predominantly quiet - neighbors keep to themselves, but are kind - pets allowed - cat colony keeps the rodents away - huge apartments Cons: - shared courtyard; next door building blasts music on sundays - security very lax - packages occasionally stolen (better since new super hired in 2023) Advice to landlord: get security system at the first front door like the next door building; have a clause about not blasting music as well as quiet hours”
— 916 CARROLL STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: 1. Super and his team are fantastic (thank you!!!) 2. Management responds very quickly 3. Some units have been remodeled very nicely 4. Neighbors help out with bringing mail to the door Cons: 1. Have had multiple issues with roaches and rats 2. Pest management isn’t consistent - sometimes they don’t show up despite saying they will 3. Have had multiple package theft incidences 4. Sometimes neighbors will jam the door open so they can get in easily but it compromises safety of the building 5. The elevator has a strong Pee stench sometimes. We can’t tell if it’s someone’s dog or human Pee but super is always trying to clean it Advice to landlord: Pls clean the building more thoroughly and work on the elevator stench. Security of the building needs to be sorted by not allowing people to keep the front door ajar. Pest management needs SERIOUS improvement.”
— 916 CARROLL STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Located close to transit, prospect park, botanic garden, museums, and the Brooklyn Public Library. Super is very nice and responsive.Elevator building. Cons: Dirty, cockroaches in the apartments, management company is faceless and NEVER email or call you back. Showers back up often. Water temperature oscillates between freezing and burning hot. His everywhere for pests to get into. Advice to landlord: Care about your residents, respond to calls and emails. Update your boiler. Do regular pest maintenance.”
