“Pros: Staff is super responsive and always helpful! If you put in a complaint the night of they’re there the next day. Cons: Roaches. Since it’s a prewar they can be occasionally in the basement. Make sure to cover your sinks at all times because they will come up that too and holes in walls! I’ve seen 3 in my apt in the past year! Advice to landlord: Work on pest control a bit more”
— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: We stayed 1y in this building and had a great experience. Nice doormen, good quality appliances and when something broke, it got fixed really fast. Noise levels were really doable. We never heard upstairs neighbors. Staff is really nice. Location is great too with lots of connections with subway Cons: The building tends run quite hot but that's a NYC thing While the location is good, we didn't love the area, it's quite busy on 23rd st.”
— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Relatively cheap in an expensive area Cons: Smoke smell in the room Advice to landlord: Ban smoking”
— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Friendly staff and neighbors. Great roof deck. Elevators consistently working. Common spaces clean and well-maintained. Convenient neighborhood with a mix of old and new. Cons: There is a lack of enforcement for a neighbor with multiple cats. The hallway constantly reeks of urine, and the street noise can be loud.”
“Unit 308 Pros: The location is great Cons: No hot water, was told to run my water for 20 Mins and it’s bc the girl upstairs doesn’t run her water enough. Massive roaches, mold on walls( told the walls can’t mold bc they took a class and know) rooftop chairs all broken, glass bottles and garbage everywhere. Rent went up $700 and they didn’t even do anything new to the building. Tries to evict you to get higher rent . Advice to landlord: Put some money into your buildings .”
— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Rooftop deck, location, gym downstairs, laundry and doorman Cons: Not a lot of closet space and could use another window Advice to landlord: Make the studio apartments more affordable”
— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 1211 Pros: The doormen, handy men, and maintenance guys are on top of everything. They care about their jobs. The building is old and has a lot of charm with the preserved mail shoot and facade. Cons: The units are small and over priced. The dryers are always broken and I’ve seen mice in the basement and multiple cockroaches in my apartment, the basement, and hallways. Advice to landlord: Lower the prices and get an exterminator”

— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Great location, and access to subway Cons: Beware - my rent in this building increased by over 50% after my first year. Advice to landlord: This is home - it is cruel to increase rents by this level. You are pricing people out and putting them into a rental market that is impossible to navigate for an average/middle class working professional. You should be ashamed. Keep the increase to under 10% per year.”
— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 510 Pros: The pros: cheap for a doorman building in Chelsea, laundry in basement, cool old-New York aesthetic, good management, roof Cons: Expensive overall for the amount of space you get, walls were thin Advice to landlord: Install soundproofing in walls please!”

— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Building was kept clean and most amenities were easy to use. Building super is very nice and they were helpful during move out and move in. Fantastic location in Chelsea close to everything Cons: Things were frequently shut down or not available- not just bc of pandemic- elevators were very iffy and water was frequently turned off due to pipe issues. Outside building facade was always being worked on and repaired so always construction, even in interior facing apartments. Ubers could never find the address, but that’s very minor. Some front desk staff was friendly but some of the neighbors weren’t at all friendly. Overall decent building”
— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Good for price Staff are very kind Maintenance responsive and quick Nice view from roof Laundry works Utilities mostly included Cons: Old building, heating pipes are VERY noisy 23rd b/t 7&8th has become incredibly sketchy”

— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: - Really responsive management - Doormen & staff very friendly Cons: - Loud neighbor :(”
— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Close to subways and restaurants and grocery stores. The super is very nice and responsive! Cons: Lots of street noise, rooftop has been closed for over 1 year, other amenities are an extra cost”
— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Very chill doorman building, there is a building portal to be able to sell/buy furniture and communicate with tenants, maintenance is super quick and responsive, all studios and 1 bedrooms so although there are 17 floors not too busy, pet friendly, package system is very efficient via email Cons: Roof has been closed for over a year without any updates as to when it’s re-opening, make sure to choose an apartment that is not facing the inside as there is no natural light”
— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: clean and well maintained. close to many trains. Cons: sleazy staff, elevator goes out of service a lot Advice to landlord: you're supposed to care about your customers' quality of experience?”
— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Very friendly staff and good apartments, quick repairs Cons: Very inflexible and rude landlords about lease breakage re Covid Advice to landlord: Be good to people who are renting in your building if you want the rents to keep coming... Work with us to help us get out of our leases. You guys have been really rude and unhelpful. In particular, John Megadlia is very rude.”
— 208 WEST 23 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Everything was cleaned and cared for, we were kept safe, management was excellent with communication and interpersonal skills. Cons: More than half of the doormen were intrusive into personal life, and rude to tenants as well as guests. It was a problem. There was ALWAYS ALWAYS construction on the building that would start as early as 7 am and last all day. And when I say all day I mean ALL day. You couldn’t even think. So we had to leave the apartment on more days off than we would’ve liked. Advice to landlord: None at this time”
