STATEN ISLAND 18 ACRES LLC · avg 2.0 ★★★★★ · New York City
“I’m a 15 year resident at the Tysen’s Apartments so my review is recent (2024). This building has become a cesspool of shady residents, loud and obnoxious neighbors who have no type of courtesy, a middle aged woman with obvious mental health issues who constantly berates people and is clearly a racist. Needless to say I DO NOT plan on renewing my lease once it is up. Oh and did I mention the fire of 2017? Ummm…..yeah.”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“Pros: Close location to everything and more. Easy transportation with City Bus. Cons: The neighbors are loud and dirty. The management is not here even to fix the door. They never pick up the phone when you call them. Advice to landlord: Sell up to someone else please because you don’t know how to run this building”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“Pros: Lots of shops nearby Cons: Management, broken everything Advice to landlord: Don’t do that!!!”
— 655 TYSENS LANE · Staten Island“I wish I knew then Ugly Dirty hallways dirty elevators, expensive rent! And parking expensive For the expensive rent owners should upgrade Heater does not give enough heat! Noisy next door neighbors& neighbors above us Lots of tenants smoking marijuana& cigarettes I could smell it I had to buy so purifier Good maintenance workers& security though! Very convenient to grocery shops & new Hylan plaza”
“Pros: Absolutely no pros. Only thing I can say is the area is conveniently located near the new hylan plaza and shops. Cons: Roach infestation inside walls and lobby, washers never work & constantly broken. You will not get your money back if you DO use them and the middle of wash, you find out machine doesn’t rinse or spin properly. They do NOT give heat and you’ll wait forever for any repairs. You are only entitled to a paint job after renting for 3 years. People drink/ smoke in staircases and mentally ill tenants constantly roam the buildings talking to themselves or slamming doors. Absolutely worst management ever Advice to landlord: Clean up your properties, get the roach problem under control and GIVE YOUR TENANTS HEAT!”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“Terrible , dirty, urine in stairwells, cig butts ,garbage noise,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Don't Move Here. Waterbugs, roaches. Worst place ever. Staff is great though. Other than that management does not care about anything .”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“Pros: Nothing to like here Cons: Way Too Many Factors to explain on a review. This is just the main problems. 1-broker/real state person is always on a rush will show you the apartment in 2 minutes and rush the whole process so you don’t notice anything. 2-noise all day and night, the floors has no insulation in between you hear your neighbors farting, flushing toilet ,snoring watching tv,loud music etc 3-heating system is managed by a device not a human staff has no access to it heat rarely comes on and when it does is for 5 minutes no matter how cold it is there is no compassion for elderly tenants or kids with medical conditions is all about 💰 4-hallways ,elevators and stairs are unsafe and disgusting the smell of pot , cigarette along with everything else is constant only the fist floor is mopped all others floors are never mopped or swept no even in times of COVID garbage is accumulated everyday by the entrance door on the floor no container or anything just waste everywhere there are no cameras on hallways or elevators so for packages get stolen on a daily basis . 5-management doesn’t care about any of these issues. They will never resolve them as long as they have 💰 coming in they just don’t care. 6-constant water problems while taking a shower you might end up getting dirt on your body water comes out brownish just 🤮. 7-elevators constantly breaks down . 8-about 80% of tenants in these apartments pay their rent with some kind of program so they either used to it or just don’t care anymore. never thought a place like this could’ve existed in the south shore 😱 😱🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 Advice to landlord: Don’t be so cheap”

— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“Pros: It was conveniently located near shopping areas. Cons: There are so many to list... but to save someone from suffering as I did, I will take time to share: -Mold growing all over your walls, bathroom and doors throughout your apartment -Roach infestations (including HUGEEEE flying water bugs) -Bed bugs!! They are within the walls, when your apartment get treated, they scatter to the next door neighbors, leading to future infestations.. it is a nightmare to live out of bags and have to throw away your belongings and never get compensated for them. It is a game for the management who are aware of this issue. -Mice... feces and urine all over your kitchen counters, stove, oven.. it’s disgusting. -Tenants smoking in apartments and hallways and having to smell all that in your own apartment, not safe for babies. -Garbage incinerators stuffed and over flowing with garbage.. people just open the doors and throw their bags on the floor. -Maintenance men who cry when they have to do their jobs.. watch out for the over weight one who walks around blasting his radio with cuss words.. -Maintenance supervisor.. a total prick.. he I find to be a joke.. sits at his desk pretending to give a darn about his job and issues tenants have.. let’s just say: he does more yapping than anything.. he tries to intimidate and please a dog bites harder than her does. -Man chipping paint, terrible plaster jobs done by who we call “plaster king”.. -They take you to court and try to get over on extra fees that are illegal.. so keep an eye on that.. -Oh and you move in thinking your going to pay the “1,300” a month for a one bedroom to only find out that this is a preferential rent and they feel they are doing you a favor in giving you that rent for the year and want to then hike it up the the “apartments worth” which turns out to be like 1,700-2,000 for a crappy apartment... *SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE AND DON’T BOTHER SUPPLYING THESE PEOPLE WITH YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY Mostly those who live here have no other options to move because they accept bad credit and just anyone that other places don’t.. do that tells you a lot! -No heat in winter -No insulation in walls so you hear EVERYTHING around you and they force you to put carpet rather than they supply it and still get complaints from tenants below you that they can hear you walking to the bathroom to pee at 3 am.. so now your not able to pee in your own home because you don’t want to wake up your downstairs neighbors! Advice to landlord: You need a lot of fixing.. not just the renovations your currently doing to attract future tenants because of the new plaza across the street ;-D”
— 30 EBBITTS STREET · Staten Island“This has nothing to do with the grounds Maintenance fails to being maintained, Its about the maintenance & up keep on apartments when you call them for repairs. They do not respond, constantly saying yes but never show up. When they do so something its done half way or just enough to make it usable then never come back and finish the job. I have been fighting with them for years to fix our bathroom properly and all they do is patch work. I have had leaks & floods for the last 4 years, sheetrock coming off the wall, peeling, holes and yet not once have they repaired it. Constant mold that is not dealt with properly and comes back like clockwork. I have the pictures and videos and will be posting to social media as well as calling 311 AGAIN to get something done.”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“Mixed feelings...I don't know about everyone else but my apartment is a really good deal! It's so nice! Unfortunately was greeted by a cockroach in the bathtub when I got here but the exterminator came right away and it's been ok. These bad reviews are from a few years ago.”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“Ive only lived here since May , the staff is nice and helpful if you're respectful back. The walls you can hear through sometimes and you can hear in the hallway but thats ny isnt it. People will leave you alone if your nice to them first. Ive seen other reveiws about roaches , yes there are roaches but once you learn on how to take care of them it isnt that bad . I have a roof over my head the maitnence guy helps with fire alarms . From what Ive seen since ive moved is they are slowly renovating which is nice to see. If you're a down to earth person this place really isn't that bad .”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“The place is a total --------. Overexpensive, broken in pieces, unsafe (inhabited with criminals and drug users) Banana Republic. Normal people RUN OUT from this hell. The owners' greed ruined it. Stay away as far as possible from the dump.”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“One star is being nice. I have lived here for 20 something years and am finally leaving. this place has serverly gone down hill. It is the most disgusting place to live. Roaches, waterbugs, mice, rats, bedbugs, mold, drugs, break-ins, car destruction, mentally unstable tenants, nosey and rude tenants, lazy and rude building staff, and condeceding nasty management. The building and grounds are filthy. People screaming and fighting in the hallways and their apartments. Washers and dryers only work sometimes. The rent is insanely high. Repairs are minimal, and usually only done once 311 is called and they are fined at which point the building gets nasty with you for calling 311. Everything is falling apart in the buildings. They are doing cosmetic updates just get tenants in. What once was nice buildings are now a decrepit roach infested projects.”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“Extremely unsafe and horrifying place. Drugs and fights- Fire trucks and Police are regular here. There is no kitchen, just a few small cabinets. So called wooden floor is totally used up. Management and personnel keep ears and eyes closed. No repair happened without complaints to the Department of Housing. 3 rents required upon moving in. Rent goes up 10% every year. Do not bother with this place. Rating for everything is zero.”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“Don't be fooled by the convenient location. The place is a cesspool. Dog crap everywhere. People throw food out windows. Garbage / old furniture left by exits. Nasty neighbors. Drugs, needles on ground, roaches, waterbuds, mice, rats. Just look at the rat traps all over the outside of the building. Disgusting and shameful place to live.”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“Looks like most of the comments are negative and underline roach infestation, small size and people. Does anybody have anything good to say? I am considering renting a 1 bedroom apartment there. Thanks in advance”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“Rented a 2 bdrm with my 3 girls. Thought that because it was in a decent area we would be comfortable. I was wrong!!! The apartments were roach infested with roaches the size of mice. Didn't stay there long enough to make it to winter but judging by the lack of effort to take care of that problem I'm sure there were mice as well. Barely any security. Was advertised as a luxurious apartment complex which was a huge misconception on their part. I've lived in projects before in not so great neighborhoods and can tell you that the apartments there were much cleaner than these with round the clock maintenance. I moved in and had to clean the apartment as it was left dirty actual dirt and garbage on the floor. From what I hear no improvements have been made. Rent was outrageous. I do not recommend these apartments.”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“The worst place to live in a specially by property manager Eric Rampulla during the winter if you wan to freeze you welcome”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“By far the worst place I have ever lived at, each month I get sick for the reality that, I have pay $1500 to live in this overpriced project. I was born and raised in the project of BKLYN (East New York) and at least there you paid for what you got Nothing. Here you pay $1500 a month for a 2 bedroom with Water Bugs, Bed Bugs and mice. The elevators are full of spit and dog piss. The water bugs are as big as a mice running and flying around your apartment. Security is a joke. Run and never look back at this crap hole!”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“I have never seen anything like it they have the biggest waterbugs and chock full of roaches. The overhead lights are full of dead roaches. Good luck trying to get your security back. Run as fast as you can away from these apartments I would rather live in a cardboard box then live here”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“RUN THE OTHER WAY TAKE YOUR FAMILY AND GOOO!! If you enjoy crackheads in the staircase, pill heads making buys and walking past them on the first floor, people who don't pay for parking parking in the lot you pay for, a maintenance number that never gets picked up, mentally ill people walking the halls half naked and licking the elevator walls, then these are the "LUXURY" apartments for you. Water bugs on the first floor so when we bring guests over that's the first thing they see, neighbors with bedbugs every other month, porters that do half assed jobs, maintenance men with the skill set of a 8 year old boy, then these apartment are what your looking for. Unplowed parking lots unsalted sidewalks, then these are the apartments your looking for. There was a time that it was good...when TRUMP owned them but as I sit in my apartment with the pungent smell of human feces, and urine from the neighbors upstairs for the last three weeks I felt the need to post. RUN, RUN THE OTHER WAY, TAKE YOUR MONEY, YOUR FAMILY, AND GO!!! JUST GO!!!!”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“Mr Eric Rampulla, Property Manager and Jackie Marsalla, maintenance general- manager, went above and beyond the call of duty. I as a tenant in one of the buildings can say with a full heart that I have never been happier living in such a place run by the aformentioned gentlemen. My Mother was looking for an apartment, I suggested Tysens Park; My Mother got the apartment and the workforce that Jackie oversees made my mothers apartment absolutely wonderful. The maintenance workers are an incredible asset to the complex. Hats off to Eric and Jackie.”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“I recently had A new ceramic floor installed in my kitchen and I must say I am very happy. I have to say management really helped me because of my job. I only had off a few hours during the week and they did everything possible to get the job done. They even sent the super on the weekend to re-install my stove. My floor looks great thanks to a job well done!”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“Recently I had A new floor installed in my kitchen . This was done, thankfully, by managemet. The old floor was cracked and was starting to peel up. Management was very helpfull in working with my work schedule. They had a beautiful ceramic floor put in by a professional and the super on call even came on A Saturday to re-install the stove for me. A great job!”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“I love it here I had a roach problem started to clean up got riddex and that was the end of that for those that have that problem clean up they only go to places they can get food at clean up man!!!”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“What everyone is saying about Tysens Apartments is true. I went to go view a two bed room Jr in November of 2012 after i paid Cecilia $75 for credit check and application fee. The building she took me to had a bad odor like someone had died, and when i asked her what was that smell?, she ignored me like she did'nt here me and continued to proceed to show me this joke of a luxury apartment. First of all, there were men in the apartment working, in which you can see where they placed roach gel all in the walls, which let me know that building have a bad roach problem. The rooms was so small i would of had to cut my bed in half to fit it into the room. The smaller room in which my young boys would of been sleeping in, the door opens up to the kitchen, so i would of had to worry about my 3yr possibly getting burnt. The closets was so SMALL, i'm quite sure my microwave was bigger than that. I am so grateful for all these reviews that kept me from signing a lease with this place. I'm just upset with myself for waisting $75 to go and view this place. Thanks guys for the truthful reviews on this place, at least i saved $3,750.”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“If you like roaches, waterbugs, bedbugs, mice, piss and spit in the elevator and staircases, dog crap and piss everywhere, drug dealers, radios blasting, then this is the place for you. What a DUMP!! Roaches galore!! Management sucks! Buildings need constant repair. Machines in laundry room constantly broken and don't get fixed for more than a week. Elevator doesn't operate at least once a week. Have fun if you're handicapped or live on the 6th floor. They now accept section 8 so lots of great people are moving in. And they have the nerve to call these luxury apartments! I guess if living with roaches and piss is your idea of luxury then come on down. And let's not forget that phoney ----- real estate agent Cecelia. Stupid cow should be fired!! She'll tell you there's no roaches! Just take a look around. You'll see quite a few. Be prepared to shell out over $3000 to move into these luxury roach motels!!!”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“i would like to compliment one of you management staff, ms. cecila. she accommodated me very well when i moved here in 2006, i ran into her the other day and to my amazement she remembered me. i like the idea of after six years, this woman in management remembered me.”
— 255 MILL ROAD · Staten Island“I used to live at Tysens . I got out as soon as I was able to save some money again after being charged $3750. To move in. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT THESE BUILDING .. Roaches and drug dealers everywhere. Now they got rid of Heidi Blum which I am sooo excited about but they also got rid of Janet labrano who was the only one who seemed to care and get things done ! This is the projects just covered by a pretty face Cecilia a weekly who just collects your money as a real estate agent and does not give a crap about you. She is the lowest form of life with her pretty smile and itchy hands .. Believe me do not rent here..”
