I pay for parking as an added feature and I still don;t understand the pet policy (dogs or no dogs?). I should have known better than to rent here b/c my leasing agent barely returned a call once she received my deposit to hold the apt. Last month (Nov 08) they lost my rent check, charged me $75. I faxed them 11 pages of documentation that i paid it inc a duplicate check yet my claim was denied. I have only lived here for 5 months and am counting down the months unitl the lease is over. The staff has horrible customer service skills and blame all the issues on the fact that it's a big Penue but make you pay for it in the end.

don't be deceived by the presentation of Park Labrea offering "luxury" apartments. It's a fa ade. Park Labrea is a polished turd ruled by greedy, cooperate slum lords who don't care about anything except squeezing their tenants out of every nickel and dime they can. . There's one good thing about Park Labrea: its location. Everything else will fall short of your expectations and you will be violated and deceived Now that I've listed the only "pro", I will list the "cons" from least worst to REALLY bad in descending order. 1. The kitchens are slightly bigger than public bathroom stalls. 2. In many apartments, You've got pilot lights flickering in each gas stove compartment. This isn't safe. The apartments were built after World War II and not many upgrades have been changed in the kitchen arena. 3. The electricity in many of the apartments is low in BTUs. If you have a microwave, you must turn off every other appliance that's on (T.V., computer, lamp) or your power will shut off. 4. They (maintenance administration and all other minions) enter your Anit all the time without permission or sometimes without warning (this is stated in your lease agreement which is the size of the Magna Carta), to inspect, to replace something that doesn't need to replaced etc. and the maintenance people NEVER do a decent job cleaning up after themselves and they don't seem to care. 5. NO MONTH TO MONTH. Your lease will be yearly no matter how long you stay and if you want to leave, there's a $1,000 buy-out. This is typical with many apartments, but Park Labrea won't tell you about it when you start your lease. 6. The walls are thin, so the people next door to are pretty much your roommates. 7. They improve everything except the interior of apartments to basically continue polishing the turd., so the compound is appealing to outsiders. So your rent will be raised to cover the cost of lots you don't park your car in, swimming pools you don't swim in (BTW, Park Labrea charges tenants $30 a day to swim in the pool. $30!!!), buildings that you don't live in that need an unnecessary tacky paint job, gyms you don't go to, advertising etc... Essentially, your rent goes up to pay for things that have nothing to do with you or your Anit. 8. The people who work in the Administration Building are rude, especially to immigrants who don't speak English well. I work with many Koreans who live there or had lived there, so I know about this first-hand. One woman I used to work with told me she was left in tears after a conversation with a woman at Park Labrea who told her to take English lessons next time she speaks with her. Awful. 9. Security is a joke. ANYONE or ANY creature can walk in there, including coyotes. That's right, coyotes. I saw three running around the compound when I lived there. Nobody did a thing. Most of the security patrol people are kids; they are not experienced, underpaid, and apathetic. Most of them ride around on bikes and that's pretty much it. They are not helpful, they vacillate on what to do when there's a problem, and they try to avoid contact with tenants because many of them are inhibited and don't want to do their jobs. 10. Here is the worst. If you leave for vacation for more than three days, you are need to to report it to administration. When we reported our absence for 10 days, we came back to find out that our Anit was robbed. Is this a coincidence? I don't think so. I pretty sure somebody or some people at Park Labrea are pulling inside jobs. It might be security, maintenance, or administration because they can all can get hold of your key and there was NO SIGN of break-in in our Anit. None. This has happened to several tenants at PB and they don'thing to investigate or reimburse. They quickly replace your key and after you file a complaint months later you will get a letter from Jennifer Rider from their law offices affirming that Park Labrea wasn't liable for anything and to contact your renters insurance. I am not a jaded or malicious person; I am not whiner. I'm just looking out for the people. So if you're reading this, find some place else to live because Park Labrea is dreadful

Park LaBrea is just a Big name and nothing else! The community is clean, huge and look attractive, but that´s about it!

The rents are extremely high for the quality of the apartments. Most of the buildings are old. The apartments are huge with good closet spaces, but you have to pay more rent as you keep on adding the accessories(?) like air-conditioner, fans, dishwasher. They also charge extra (about 50$ per month) for parking and (about 30$ per month) for fitness center. The mgmt is Fffable till you rent the apartement and then it suddenly turns back on you. The lease terms are not flexible at all and an increase in rent is sure after your term is over. The security is just a show. Don´t go on the looks of community and appearance of leasing office. You will repent later!

I am living at this Ppot for the past 1.5 months. All this while, I feel suffocated and horrible here except for the location. I have COCKROACHES at home :( :( I have called the office guys to let them know about this so they will help me. To my surprise, they never showed up. I just saw a cockroach on the stove top.Yeiiiiks!!!!!! They have washer and dryer which never works except for consuming money without doing job. The elevator never works. Garbage Ppot is right next to the washer and dryer location. And the garbage area stinks with trash everywhere. I wish the leasing guys could help me. Otherwise, I know You've got much better options for me out there.

I would like to highlight a positive experience I had with a maintenance worker named Elgin. He was thorough, and spent time making sure the problem was diagnosed correctly, and fixing it- even returning to the Alat once the work was done (and dry) to test it. Thank you.

been here for 4 years now. did not thuink I would like in any one Penue for 4 years but I'm a struggling actor and have to be close to hollywood. My friends all complain about their landlords and where they live because they can only afford cheap parts of tow. I refer them here all the time. The only problem I had was that I needed a co-signer. I did not have a job when I moved out here from chicago and they mase my dad co-signer. I almpst passed because of that but I am glad I decided to stay. I have been verry happy here and don't plan to go anywhere anytime soon. peace

This place was built originally as military housing and it shows. cold metallic feeling as mentioned in another post. Also, I agree with the fact that it Ruite DOES need a/c. Michael Moore was my leasing agent too, and he was nice, but kinda a jerk once I moved in and he knew he couldnt get any more commission offa me ;)

expensive rents, no amenities included; so you have to pay for a parking spot!!! thats another $30-150/month and pay to use the gym/ pool which is also maintained poorly, overcharges, charges all kinds of fees and the staff are not helpful at all. to deal with the administrative , services and mgmt staff is a total nightmare...Stay Away from these people! they are here to rip you off. because their leasing agents are pro in what they do; i.e. get people to move in and face all kinds of problems their 2nd day in. ridiculously stupid policies and rules. the patrol they've hired is one of the cheapest around.. and how'd you feel if i tell you that they have keys to every door here and do visit your unit whether you're present or not! not sure if they're trustworthy and loyal either, have read many theft reports from PLB residents! i'd also like to mention the roaches i recently found in my Auite..all sizes! had the pest control folks come but no improvement so far.. of course.. when all the trash from the entire building is dumped right below the lobby and stays there for long hours.. all sorts of bugs leak into the units up above.. and i think its disgusting to have to pass by the garbage every time you go to do your laundry.. laundry is another story here at PLB. the community is equipped with smart card facilities and the cards don't read often and the machine steals your money! what a pain! few good things i could say about living at park la brea is proximity to the Grove, WeHo and general neighborhood which i like alot. spacious units and nice old hardwood flooring. other than That's a total disaster.. probably the worst part is the mgmt done so poorly that brings tear to eyes :( be ready for not seeing your security deposit returned to you, how do i know that? i've already exchanged apartments INside park la brea!!
