The amenities are amazing, Bomplex gets lots of sunshine and honestly great price for luxury apt in this region. Staff is super nice. I was paying more to live in a smaller unit at Alessio with no sunshine and awful neighbors, this place is really nice, way bigger and better but somehow less. It has 2 pools and 3 jacuzzis.

I have not experienced rudeness from the office staff or the security guards. Stephanie is one of the most pleasant. The office staff has been responsive when I made a noise complaint. The grounds are beautiful and meticulously maintained. If I ever had to call a guard for a noise complaint he was extremely helpful and courteous. I have been pretty happy with my overall tenancy until recently.

I have had a longstanding problem with a maintenance issue. I recently went online to see what apartments similar to mine are renting for. I found that I am below market value and I am fairly sure That's why my maintenance request has not been taken care of promptly and efficiently. I don't think the individuals responsible for this fully comprehend that when you direct negative energy you don't just affect one other person. If mgmt can inflame the renter enough to leave at the end of their lease, they can then raise the rent on that apartment a whole lot more. The current feeling I have is that the apartment managers job at this complex is to make money and to save money. The fact that they are dealing with real live human beings and their homes seems to be irrelevant. It could even be argued that they are doing what they are supposed to be doing. They are rich - and getting richer. The tenants are getting some of the services they are paying for. but, I do think that Tony (maintenance manager) means well and they are working his --- off. People in mgmt positions at apartment complexes have a lot of power (if you let them). The tenant can really only control themselves and can't make mgmt do anything without retaliation. I think some of the postings here reflect that certain tenants are treated differently and with less attentiveness than others - probably depending upon how they fit into the overall financial picture. but, it could depend upon anything. I guess it pays to be informed before you rent - if you absolutely have to. Renting isn't usually a good thing if you are big on control.

This place is nuts! I know of 2 robberies within the last 3 months, one of them was at gunpoint!! Some of the security is rude. The office is way to "busy" all the time, and they just rush you around with quick easy "answers". When i moved out, they said they just needed touch up paint, then at the last minute, they said it will need a full paint; and all it was was wall smuges. They should just buy some magic eraser cleaners. The garbage disposal broke, i put in a work order, and after a month and a half they still didn't fix. I had rotting food in my sink!!! To top that off, every now and again, when the upstairs tenants would use their garbage disposal, my sink would spew out this sewage smelling fizzy water stuff. It had rotting food bits and hair and lint in it. GROSS! The parking garages are like a dungeon. They're leaky, and damn near ruined the paint on my car. (Thanks C.L.R.!!) Not to mention that long journey around the complex. If you lived on the south side of the property, you had to drive all the way around (extra 5 mins) just to get to the garage. They "upgraded" the laundry room and put in smaller capacity washers so you have to spend more money. Used to use less than 5 bucks to do 2 loads, wash and dry. Now had to use about 6 or 7 because 2 turned into 4 loads. Lets, see what else...
When i first moved in, the master bed wall was covered in mold from the last tenants. It took them over a month and plenty of nagging to just put plaster over it, then it took another 3 months and more nagging just to get them to come sand and paint the plaster. They never fixed the root of the problem (leaky window) and when we left the mold was returning through the plaster and paint!! Plus, the area is really ------, Dnsafe to walk around at night. My friends car got broken into twice and my other friends car got hit while he was parked on the street. Beware, this Apace you're (thinking of) moving into may be your last!
P.S. if you are a relativly attractive girl, don't move here! My wife got hassled by the males every time, and they're persistant little monkeys too! SCARY!

Ldore living here, don't Ldore that It's in unincorporated LA so that the rent can go up exponentially each year. Have had a bicycle stolen from our parking spot but no other security issues. In fact Mario (one of the regular security guards) is a wonderful guy and helpful. Most of the staff here is and maintenance is prompt.

We have dry wood termites and the mgmt. will only spray, not fumigate which is and was the recommended method by The Structural Pest Board in 2002 and I am sure It's now as well. This will be one of several times the exterminators have come to our apartment. 90 days after moving in we received a certified letter stating that RW Selby & Co., Inc. the mgmt. company, has begun the process of turning these apartments into condos. They not only want to continue to take our rent for these termite infested apartments that are a time bomb ticking in terms of structural damage, but now they want to sell them too. Apparently every one of these buildings has apartments that have termites, so how long before all of the apartments in every one of the buildings has them too?! By the way, renters insurance won't cover damage
from termites to furniture or any other items. The terrible shame of this is we loved these apartments. The buildings "appeared" to be quite nice and well taken care of. The landscaping is quite nice and all in all It's quiet where we live for the most part. I am so disappointed to find out they won't bite the bullet and do what will rid their buildings and property of termites for once and all. We might have considered buying if they turn condos, but not now. I am also disappointed to read about the Attorney General's account of them in 2001 when they forced RW Selby & Co., Inc. to pay $450.000.00 back to tenants for withholding security deposits, as well as $138.000.00 in court costs for those tenants. They own many other apartment buildings/properties and should certainly behave better when their web site claims to want to provide the best to those that live on their properties. There's no reward here for being a good tenant who pays rent on time, cares about the property and the welfare of the other residents at this place. My fiance and others on July4th put out a fire here when some resident's children were playing with fireworks while their parents or some adults looked on, set the grass at the apartments on fire. Before the fire dept. got here my husband and two other residents put the majority of this fire out before it got to trees and shrubs, by running out with trash cans filled with water and using a fire extinguisher. They did a great service to the apartments and to the residents here and the thanks isn'thing. Some, not all, but some staff members at the front office promise to return calls regarding this termite problem and they never do. We have to keep calling to learn when the exterminators are coming. This is a terrible way to treat tenants who are decent people, pay rent on time and even helped save the people and property here from a fire.

After nearly 2 years of nothing but complaints, no one has posted anything since 10/04. Does that mean things have turned around at the Heights?

Does anyone have any current information about this Prea? Or should I go to the BBB?

This is a secure community with open areas, kept up well facilities and Aad units. One of the best Aad communities in this area and conveniently located with nearby supermarkets, parks and freeway.
