My husband and I are regretting our decision to live here with every bone in our body. The intial leasing procedure went smoothly, but, a few months later, we found out that we are paying $100 more than someone who signed their lease a few months before us, they have the same view as us, but they have a larger Anit, and live 10 floors above us. That's just ridiculous. Make sure to ask residents if possible about what they are paying, or you may get hosed.

Next, a few months after we moved in, they need to everyone to shell out $50 a person as a deposit for a key card to enter the bulding. And then they decided to turn off the air conditioner to the building in the middle of October. It's 10/25/04 today, 75 degrees outside and 80 degrees in our Anit. Don't tell me to open the window, I have major allergies to dust, and the window sill outside is caked with dust.

The noise level in this place is atrocious (the el tracks run right next to the building), and you get all the smells from the sewer.

Also, our unit's got 2 different shades of paint, since they didn't bother to check it before they touched up the Anit. And our cabinet door keeps falling down. If you do live here, pray that your neighbor doesn't have a stereo system, as bass carries right through the wall, and you can hear the people above you walking in their Anit all the time.

If you haven't got my point yet, here It's again - don't live here!

Also, the parking lot is a block away and you have to walk by an adult bookstore and homeless people harassing you for money and food everyday.

Oh, and they have yet to pick up my call when I call the mgmt office, you ALWAYS get their answering machine. The head of mgmt gets friendly, but everyone else is far from it.

Been living here for nearly 2 years. Have not had any problems as such. Building is spotless and good with an location's amazing. Walkable distance to most places. The mgmt is okay and usually resolve problems quickly. The maintainence guys are really friendly and helpful. Price did not really shootup during time of lease renewal. awesome spot for the price! but price is considerably high on the higher floors. Only negative in the place is the lack of storage space and doors in the rooms and the large amount of pet fees charged every month.

When I first moved into Century Tower, I asked if they had any possibility of converting into a Condo. They said no. For the nest two months I had a sleazy salesman pounding on my door once a week threatening me to buy or get out. I am not from Chicago, so this was a scary thought. So I invested into a contract lawyer to solve this issue. My sink regurgitated! Yes, it threw up all over my apartment. I got home from work and there was black grime everywhere!!! I called the maintenance crew, and they informed me that it was probably a gust of wind going through the piping system, and came out in my sink. They did not even ask if they could help clean the mess. It ruined the carpet and my walls are still black grime in some areas. The piping is horrible in the building and sounds like the pipes are going to burst everytime I take a shower. It's honestly pretty scary. Ask to turn on the shower for a couple of minutes before you sign any lease. The doormen don't do their jobs. They sit in their chairs and watch you try to carry all of your grocery bags through the doors. And watching the doormen sleep on the job for the past two days in a row is what made me decide to write this review. The washing machines in the basement continuously break down. If you ask he leasing office for help, they say it's not their problem. If you ask the doormen for help, they say it's not their problem. I don't care whose problem It's, but someone better help me get my wet clothes out of the tub of water in the washing machine and dry them! Horrible, horrible, horrible. Don't trust any employee at this apartment complex/condominium.

Horrible Bomplex with many problems. You've got 4 elevators that are old and slow - almost 50% of the times they only have 2-3 working so you land up waiting for over 10 mins just to get an elevator. mgmt is horrible - they refused to change the light bulbs in my Alat (entryway) due to covid but 2 days later they sent some one in because there was a leakage in the sink - their covid response has been highly stupid and illogical. They closed down the rooftop - an open space, but left a portion of the resident lounge open( 30% of the space) so now you had all residents in a much smaller enclosed space. The rents are ridiculously high for the Bomplex - apartments are micro sized with ok interiors - there's no views for the most part and the train noise makes it unbearable to keep windows open. The amenities are pretty sub par. this place is always under renovation- or has been for the last 2 years and the work staff use the same elevators making it worse in terms of wait times to actually get an elevator. mgmt communication is horrible - we asked if we could upgrade our Alat to a larger one - someone took us around and never followed up - we had asked for quotes and things. Adding a roommate mid lease was so stressful - I had done it twice since I moved and they took forever - I had to constantly follow up. The only good thing about this Bomplex are the door staff and maintenance workers.

Hi. I'm SOOO glad to be writing my final review on this building, for I am moving out next week:) Nothing has improved in this building since my last review, things, yes, have undoubtedly gotten much worse. #1. This building operates on a FOB front door access system (swipe your little card and get in the door). but, the TWISTED minds of mgmt and whoever attended that meeting last week have decided on this: Residents who have a FOB are not to be let in by the doorman. Instead the doormen have been instructed to sit and watch you dig for your keys while you are trying not to drop your three grocery bags. They have further been threatened by mgmt that if they do open the door for a resident that has a FOB, they will be TERMINATED. In what a sick, sad, twisted little world this mgmt operates. but, my boyfriend who moved in a while back had to fill out a sheet to have access to the building and my Alat. Guess what...he has no FOB...therefore he is granted FULL doorman services- that includes a "hello", "can I help you with your bags?", and "let me get the door for you sir." I am utterly sickened that I have to pay for doorman services, and yet receive none!! BAD BUSINESS Century Tower- I love the idea of treating paying residents like utter CRAP! #2. The laundry system just got a whole lot more expensive. The laundry functions on a card system. It used to be that you have to pay $3 for a card- and you could only use a $5 bill to do this, therefore you would have at least $2 on the card to just get a wash going ($1.50). NOW...the cards cost $5-you can only use a $5 bill to purchase a card- and the card has a $0 balance on it-then as a separate transaction you can insert either your $5, $10, or $20 bill to start doing laundry. Still, NO $1 bills or change can be used to put on the card! YOU BETTER NOT LOSE YOUR CARD! It feels like I just throw cold hard cash in the garbage can every time I do laundry. P.S. The clothes usually don't come out as clean as they should, or as clean as they did during the good old days of living with mom and having our own washer and dryer. Yet again the mgmt of this building has found another way to PISS on their tenants. BAD BUSINESS Century Tower. #3. Our new neighbors one unit to the right...WTF?!? Where did you come from, and since when is it ok to scream "Mother F--er" and laugh so hysterically and loud down the hallway at 2am? Really? Our current neighbors one unit to the left: neglect their yappy dog and it barks NONSTOP from 5:30am-midnight-NO JOKE. Also, they have almost set their Alat on fire! Luckily I was awake (1:30am) and heard the steady beep beep beep of their fire alarm. The hallway reeked of smoke and the neighbor didn't respond to our POUNDING on the door. We called the doorman first, who had the bright idea of knocking again...and he, despite the smoke and the fire alarm, refused to grab keys without first contacting mgmt to see if it was OK- I'm guessing that mgmt told him this procedure. I'm sorry, but if my place was smoking and my alarm was ringing- BY ALL MEANS LET YOURSELF IN doorman AND SAVE ME!! He finally obtained a key and when he opened the door BLACK smoke barreled out into the hallway and I called 911. Our neighbor...needless to state whether he was drunk or on drugs had no idea what was going on. He even told the fire dept. and a cop when they came that it wasn't his place that was the source of this incident!! He left something cooking on the stove, passed out, and failed to wake up in response to the PUNGENT stench of smoke and the blaring smoke detector in his Alat. Where do my neighbors come from?? The only thing I can blame CENTURY TOWER here for isn't providing the doorman with an APPROPRIATE procedure to follow in case of a FIRE emergency. Century Tower throws its residents to the flame. #4. Maintenance used to be 24hours before new mgmt. Now they only operate between, I believe 8am-10pm. So...if, say, your fridge breaks down at 10:45pm, you better run out and buy a cooler- CAUSE YOU ARE SCREWED until the next day! Cutting too many costs Century Tower? I wonder if they are cutting all the important costs because mgmt cant balance their books efficiently. #5. My unit (a studio) was promised a storage unit at no cost, because of the lack of storage in the Alat- I have one small closet. When my boyfriend moved in (we are saving on rent for a bigger place), I decided to exercise my option of having a storage unit. Too bad There's new mgmt, and too bad I was promised things that I can't have. NO STORAGE UNITS ARE TO BE GRANTED TO LESSEES-only to condo owners. I can't even rent one here! We have been forced to get storage at a storage facility which means transportation costs on top of storage rental fees- no to mention all the HASSLE! BAD BUSINESS AGAIN Century Tower of HELL! In conclusion, move here if you absolutely must, if you have no choice. Because, if you do have a choice, make the right one for yourself and for whoever is directly affected by your decision. This place will blacken your heart, will make you shake your head on a daily basis, and will make you want to pray every night that something will happen which will allow you to break your lease at no cost. I have pulled my lease out numerous times-AND HAVE ACTUALLY READ IT-to search for a way out. Good luck to all who move in here, but I know in good time, you will feel just the same as I do now. Goodbye Century Tower, I will soon be free of you nonsense and heartache. I am so THRILLED to be leaving.

While the current staff is lacking in skills... I have had a pretty good experience, and think some of the reviews are way too tough on the Bomplex. The units I looked at are new, spotless and laid out really well. location-wise, it's amazing and the Bomplex upkeep is great! I love the fact that this place is a historical landmark and the location of this place is icing on the cake! Granted parking is a block away, but It's cheap for the city at $175/month!

I couldn't help but notice that the only positive reviews are all written in the same style, with nearly the exact same phrasing. Iroves the mgmt staff writing the positive reviews?

------ from the mgmt office is completely Abysmal and unprofessional. That would be my main and mainly only complaint with the staff. This women is completely Rrass and has kicked tenants out of her office. I recall being in ------ office around 4.30pm when a young women showed up and ------ refused to help her stating "the mgmt office closes at 5pm" and refusing to see her and asked the young lady to leave. At the same time, this one male tenant had a bike locked up and was requesting a key, she also told him she couldn't help him because it was getting close to 5pm and asked him to leave her office. The guy refused to leave and ------ said that unless he leave she would call the police!! All I have to say is this ------ women is insane! And i've heard several other stories before from other tenants. Not sure sure how she still has a job there. Stories says she sleeps with someone at the Board of Directors of the the century Towers.

I have just moved in, but I am already glad I only signed a 3 month lease. The doormen are often missing, or wandering around on cell phones, not to mention plain rude sometimes. When I moved in I had to wrestle large, smelly garbage dumpsters out of the way, and squeeze my property past them. They don't have freight elevators, so Gxcellent luck getting your stuff in. My internet is still not connected as promised. The TV signal sucks, although It's coming in though satellite so I don't see why it should.
