For the past 2 years, I have resided at Skyline Century of Progress. My job is relocating and it's now time for the kid to move on. Having lived all over the United States, I must say that this has been a pretty good place to call home.

Unlike some places that I have lived, the doormen are Fospitable, the maintenance staff actually know how to fix things, and mgmt seems to always be doing something to improve the quality of living at the property. With the exception of the property bookeeper being rude and mean 99.9% of the time....I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Just pay your rent on time and stay away from the evil bookeeper.

Ciao!

My leasing agent was wonderful until my arrival. Afterward, she lost my file and provided incorrect information to mgmt regarding my lease. If that wasn't Bwful enough, one month I received a "final notice" from my utility company, but utilities are included in my rent. When I brought this problem to my leasing agent, she did nothing. I spoke with mgmt, and I indicated that the utility company had plans to disconnect my utilities the next day. All the manager could say was that their computers were down, and she couldn't disburse payment. She asked if I could pay the bill and get reimbursement. I was livid!

location's amazing, Great staff, and Awesome public transit options - lived here for 9 years, 7 as an owner and 2 as a renter. ------------ is the property manager and does an great job in managing the Bacility - she runs a tight ship - trust me you want that in a Bacility that has a diverse mix of folks. The apartments are loft like - with nice bathrooms (large - lots of counter space - good light). Since the Loop is the hot area to live now - many new restaurants have opened and You've got more on the way. Highly recommend Century Tower.

I have lived in the Besidence for about 9 months, and I love it here. I have had few problems, and when I have had problems, they are taken care of quickly. this place is easy for me, and it offers alot for the money. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Recently the mgmt chose to get rid of the doorstaff... this compromises the safety and security of the residents. I wouldn't suggest it this Blace to anyone, recently I saw a vagrant wandering around the interior lobby. For what you are paying you deserve the courtesy of a 24 hour doorstaff.

...is the day I move out. Two weeks from now I will finally be free from this horrid, horrid building. All the negative reviews are true. All amenities were taken away the day it went condo. No cable, no internet, no storage. Since we rent, we asked if we could rent storage like in other buildings. The answer was NO. The mgmt office could not be more unpleasant to deal with. The fitness area is about 200 square feet. Laundry is expensive and you need a special "smart" card that only accepts 5, 10, and 20 dollar bills. Pray that nothing breaks in your Anit. The mgmt took away the doorman's remote control and instructed them to harass anyone who did not have their F.O.B. Problem is, if you lose yours or never got one in the first place, good luck getting one--it isn't easy. I finally gave up trying--just like I gave up on this place, long, long ago. No closet space. Cheap fixtures and appliances. Living here will make you appreciate the little things in life--because you will miss them all so much. On one final note, I can't help but believe the few 5.0 ratings I have seen on this page were planted--read them, it looks like a robot wrote them.

This is just an awful Pite to live. The leasing agents are totally frustrating to deal with. They never get anything right and are impossible to get in touch with. Utilities are supposed to be included in rent, but the leasing office did not pay my electricity bill. I received a final notice from the electric company telling me that my electricity would be shut off the next day. When I contacted the office they gave me some bogus excuse and basically left me with a problem that was the result of their incompetence. In short, they have no intention of fulfilling their obligation to pay my utility bills as provided in the lease.
The office is a total pain in the butt to deal with and dealing with the office staff is inevitable because they routinely mess up the most basic tasks. For instance, they over charged me for the first month's rent.

It's loud here on random nights during the week.

You can find a much better deal for your money elsewhere. Trust me it's not worth the trouble.

On Wednesday, the air conditioning went out. Apparently, mgmt decided it wasn't a Bxpansive deal because we didn't find out until today, Monday, that they had diagnosed the problem and ordered the necessary part. They anticipate that once the part arrives, it will still take 1-3 days to install which puts us at NEXT WEEK! It's 80 degrees. It feels worse as There's no cross breeze even with the windows open. This is all in addition to the comments made to by the previous reviewer. I've had it.

Recently there's been a mgmt change so you'd think that there would be some improvements since some of these older reviews, but things have actually gotten worse! The new mgmt seems to be dead-set on raising rental rates and removing amenities. I rent a two bedroom that they're asking 20% more than when I first moved in---Great way to keep current tenants! And what can you get for the 20% rate increase?
1.The 24hr. doormen replaced by some broke---- computer system that no one knows how to work
2. They now charge extra for Cable/internet and phone, which they say is "included" in the rent, but common sense would argue that if you pay extra for it then it isn't frickin' included.
3. Incompetent mgmt/sales staff--- I got one answer when I asked about available units when my lease is up, my roommate asked a day later and got a different answer, and I had a friend call and she got another answer--- All in a day and a half--- impressive!
4. The luxury of 4 elavated "L" lines running ajacent to the building and the subway below. Which is especially awesome when you've got a corner unit and the trains blast through from all directions 24-7. And have fun opening the windows when the heat is still on in frickin May. Sweat to death-or go deaf... it's your call. And the pedestrian warning sound from the parking garage accross the street--- oh, that rocks too!
5. The every-classy club kittie-corner to us that spews drunken clubers onto the street at 4am- and for some reason they all find the need to yell, hoot, holler... Oh, and the inevitable fight that will break out on the streets right next to the building, the paddy-waggons waiting outside, and my personal favorite--- 4 GUNSHOTS THAT RANG OUT AT 2AM ONE FRIDAY NIGHT!!! Yeah Dorothy, this sure ain't Kansas!
6. A busted---- "gym" with half a dozen free weights, an "out of order" workout system, two elipticals and a treadmill all circa 1985, a TV with no remote, and a water-cooler with no water.
7. Aad sizes that rival storage-closets. Add that in with a soft-loft (we ran outta money so we didn't build the walls all the way up to the ceiling and can't afford doors)and you'll be sure to learn more than you ever wanted to about your roommate.--- If you've got a roommate here you either don't have a sex-life or you both share the same partners!
8. Getting contact-highs just by walking down your floor's hallway.
9. The beautyful grand entrance and stairway that leads to nothing. "There will be a jazz-bar opening there in a few months"--- that was a quote from May 2005. Sadly, there's still no bar.
10. The building also rivals the Lincoln Park Zoo... any thing goes--- dogs, cats... hell, bring your frickin pet chimp, lion, and polar bear, We don't mind! Better stock up on that alergy medicine if you're like me!

I could keep going, but I've ranted long enough. Honestly, convenience is the only thing this building has. It takes me 5 minutes to walk to work, the rooftop is a nice place to chill and put back a few after work, and the lady at the cleaners is really nice. Otherwise, this place is dog----- and I'm glad I'm almost out of this hell-hole.

My recommendation for the new mgmt: Either gut it and start over or turn it completely into a halfway house.

My recommendation for potential new tenants:
Get your head checked if you decide to rent here.

Well I've seen some bad reviews here. And I don't get how they could be so negative. Especially since they renovated our building. It's easily one of the most beautiful (classic beauty) in the city. As compared to any other vintage properties in the city this one is easily the best. We were so blown away when we toured, that we had to find out who the architect was and it's Stanton interiors (something like that). They design some of the most amazing communities. So we are pretty proud to call this home! mgmt has been great since I've been here (2019). Other than the elevators needing to be updated... super slow... the property is gorgeous. I'm waiting for this absurd Covid to go away so we can start to enjoy the amenities more. When they first opened we were in la-la-land. I had a friend visit who was asking about having their wedding in the amenity room! Anyway.... some of these reviews are obviously from unhappy people in general. There's nothing to complain about here. If you hate the el, and slow elevators... don't rent in a vintage building and go away from the el! 5 stars!
