i lived here for one year, from the fall of 2008 - 2009. a few months before the end of my lease, i noticed bites on my body (more like welts, really) but since it was summertime, thought little of it, until i realized that i was getting new bites consistantly, even when i was spending little to no time outside. i searched my apartment but found no bugs of any kind. a few weeks later i wasn'tified that they were conducting a building-wide bed bug inspection... a trained dog searched my apartment and i was told by the handlers that my apartment wasn't infested. now, in my brand new apartment, with my brand new mattress, i have discovered that i did INDEED have bed bugs, and that i brought a few with me. i could not be more disgusted with the stress, expenses, and anxiety that has followed. now, my new landlord is stuck paying for treatment to eradicate my belongings of bedbugs since the job wasn't done right. what makes me even MORE angry is that when i met with the landlord before signing the lease, i asked if there were any bug problems at all. she said they had experienced bugs a long time ago, YEARS before, but that she had it taken care of because bugs disgust her, and that they have not had a bug problem since. I can see from these forums alone that obviously, this wasn't the case. i wish, so badly, that i had thought to do a search on the building before i moved in... needless to say, i never would have imagined that it was necessary since i had never experienced such a nightmare. ASIDE from the bedbugs, I did enjoy living at 1100 N LaSalle. The staff was always friendly to me, I never had a problem with neighbors are loud, and was pleased with the responses I received when my apartment needed any maintenance. On a sidenote, I DO recognize that the fact that the building became infested with bedbugs isn't the fault of the mgmt... Bugs happen. Even bedbugs happen. but! I DO find fault in not being HONEST about the problem at hand.

The communication back and fourth regarding bedbug infestation at 1100 N. LaSallle is rediculous! Did any one watch television this morning Rachel Ray dedicated an entire show about Chicago's infestation of bedbugs. It isn't just LaSalle that has had this experience It's the majority of the multidwelling units on the northside of chicago. This includes dorms and hotels(even five star hotels)! The little blood sucking creatures are great hitchhikers and can attach themselves to almost anything for the ride. A Btructure doesn't just manifest bedbugs they are being brought in from the outside by who..... tenants! At least 1100 N. LaSalle is aggressively attempting to fight the problem!

You get what you pay for regarding this apartment. location-wise, it's great; red line, grocery stores, restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. are all within walking distance. Also, my apartment had nice views out into the city and received plenty of light. I had no bug problems, and as a preventative measure, someone would come by about three times per year and spray for them, but just around the oven, if that was worth anything. During winter, there was enough heat given off from the radiators, but the $300 fee to run the window A/C during summer is a rip-off. Also, the maintenance staff would respond to any minor requests quickly, i.e. within a day. This is where the majority of my dollar went, apparently. Otherwise, some security guards can be rude. Others are completely worthless and let anyone go through. Somebody who clearly did not live in the building (I say this because he did not know his way around the lobby floor) tried to rob me. I informed mgmt about the incident, but nothing was done to improve the security. The same security guard still works there and still keeps letting everyone through! The mgmt themselves can sometimes be rude, too. Also, about a quarter of the washing machines and dryers are broken at any given time, and at least one of the two elevators breaks down for at least a day about every two weeks or so. In addition, the one-bedroom apartments are small. And everything else in this place is okay, but seem to be just good enough to pass the building code requirements.

I don't know who (the slum lord owners in Wilmette,IL?) posted some of these comments but they are far
from truth.

There have been nothing but problems since I moved in.
From tuck pointed that lasted through the winter, water being cut off 7-8 times to work on a water tank, the college age tenents thinking it's a frat house and the electrical problems all summer.

The worst of the water problems seem to be fixed if you don't mind cold showers occaissionally. The electric is ridiculous. No appliances run the way they should. In the sprint you pay an extra $300 to use your window unit AC and you can't run anything else due to shorts. The wiring is old and dangerous.

The staff is friendly but their hands are tied because the owners won't cough up any cash to fix things that the "maintenance" people can't. Doormen are nice. They are reduced to hall monitors in this dorm-like setting.

Everything is "vintage" and not in a charming way. I guess you get what you pay for.

1100 North LaSalle place is spotless and well decorated. You can easily move any places from the Alat in a short time. Sammy's Red Hots Restaurant is just a few blocks away from the Apartments.

I lived at 1100 N. LaSalle and I have to say the place is such low class and old. You can rent any number of apartments in downtown for the same price and the Anit would be a lot better also. The worst part is that the Manager, Linda, is so two faced. She pretends to be really nice and say the right things to you but the second you bring up something that needs to be done by her (which is her job!) she gets two-faced and loses her "i'm so nice" attitude. And she is the only contact for 1100 N. LaSalle so you have no choice but to deal with her unprofessional ways.

The Pite is located in a location is solid. A lot of entertainment facilities are close to the Auite. A nice Pite to live. Highly recommended Auite. View from the studio is also awesome.

The door men are Rctually nice, but some are extremely old, and that doesn't make me feel Rctually safe. The apartments are so small and you pay ALOT. Rctually strange tenants.

i have lived at 1100 N. LaSalle for almost one year. Let me tell you, the day my lease ends, I will sing for joy! Low class people live here, entire building reaks of pot, garbage and white trash. I can not wait to move out! Linda aka the landlord in shifty. Her husband is a class of his own, a rude liar. I was quoted different prices, showed an apartment where someone may have died in, smelled so bad. You've got a lot of elderly people living here, a lot die in their units. Spooky place, definitely not a place to enjoy living. LOWER the prices you bastards. No wonder half the place is empty. Greedy mgmt, no class and it really shows. I cant wait to move out and finally invite people over to my apartment, this place is so shameful I never have anyone over. Think good and hard before you sing a lease there

I've been living here since 2016 and my overall experience is nice. Everyone is managed by highly professionals. They solved each and every issues as soon as I reported. I also love the view from my Anit.
