Bottom line, the management here is absurd in every way, I could go on about at least 5 other incidents, but the one in the subsequent paragraphs took the cake, if you care to give it a read. Quick points: In one year they went through about 5 doormen, I can only imagine they had zero tolerance for the management as well. The garbage is right next to the lobby, always reeks. Paper-thin walls allows you to hear every noise from the hallway. They blast out mass paper notices taped to peoples doors about 2-3 times a week, usually about unimportant annoying issues that often give the impression that they are simply reminding you of their ever-present watchful eye in an effort to hand out fines. Your guests will often receive lectures from a certain staff member that loves to explain every rule they have in lethargic detail. The roof is the only good thing about this building. I hardly ever write reviews, much less negative ones, but after living here for a year I feel compelled to warn off others. The people the condo association chose to put in charge here are complete authoritarians with zero compassion. The entire operation here is based on monetary gain at the expense of tenants. Aside from the mandatory, non refundable, $250 move-in AND move-out fees, I recall an incident where my $300 bicycle was stolen from the locked bike room. I told the manager, Jennifer, about the incident, explaining that the culprit was obviously someone with a FOB to that room. She could clearly care less that one of her tenants, and one of my neighbors, stole my personal property from a communal space. She denied any responsibility, and said there was nothing she could do to help me. After I pointed out the security cameras facing the rear exit, I asked if I could review a copy of the tape to see who it was that stole my bike. She began yelling at me and went on a rant about how she thought it might be invading the privacy of others to show me the tapes of the communal space. The most laughable point she made was, "we didn't install cameras for things of this nature". Protecting the well-being of your residents wasn't even a thought in your head when you decided to install SECURITY cameras?? Really!? Apparently they only have the cameras to catch people breaking rules so they can fine them enormous amounts. None-the-less she saw an opportunity to make money off my misfortune and later tried to extort money from me by offering to have me come in after 10 PM and sit down to review the tapes with the night doorman... for an hourly fee of course. What happened to the invasion of others privacy???

Pros: Great Gold Coast location - close to shopping and public transportation, safe Building maintenance - lobby and front entrance always very well maintained Cons: Old building - window needs to be replaced, very cold in the winter; noise is an issue - you can hear people talking in the hallway very clearly, and if a neighbor is playing loud music, you can hear everything Rude management - the management here is absolutely terrible to deal with. They are control freaks. If you ask them about anything, always expect that the answer is "no" then followed by a list of fees that you would need to pay. It almost seems like that they wish you do something wrong and fine you. Bottom line is, location is nice, but the building itself is not in a great condition and the management is rude. I would not recommend living here.

I have lived in 1339 N Dearborn for four years. You simply CANNOT beat the amazing location! Rent in this building is a steal for what you get. The staff is wonderful and always helpful. The building is maintained very nicely. The lobby and common areas are kept very clean. Landscaping along the entry way and on the rooftop is always beautifully done for the season. Any and all repairs are tended to immediately. If you are looking for an affordable unit in one of the best areas of Chicago, this is the place to be!!

The management team is rude and constantly threatening to charge you for doing X or Y. Simply terrible care for the amount of money you are paying there.

Eclectic nouveau decor. Friendly community feel with helpful staff that keep the place clean, comfortable and in working order. Walk to the Red Line and Buses. Night life, restaurants, shopping, lake just blocks from this quiet, residential neighborhood. Pet friendly. Building Includes: Laundry Room w new hi-efficiency washers, Drop off Dry Cleaning Service, Receiving Room for packages. Intercom Entry, Doorman, 24 Hour Emergency as well as daily engineers, Storage and Bike Room, Heated Garage, Fantastic Roof Deck with communal grills. My mother has lived here for 16 years. There have been many upgrades and the building has never looked better and ran more efficiently.

I don't know who scorned the guy with the bad review above me, but I have lived in this building for 5 years and it has done nothing, but become better and give me more bang for my buck. I was never promised a 24/7 doorman, so I'll take until 3:00 am. Anyway, is it the nicest building in the Gold Coast, of course not, but it is close to everything and many units have lake views. Garage parking is heated and they allow pets (up to 25 lbs.) The Board lives there and has done a a lot lately include re-doing the elevators, it was a pain to live through, but they are nice. Anyway, this place is what it is, a decent 900 - 1500 sqaure foot apartment in the gold coast

This building is the absolute worst to live in. There is not a doorman 24/7, they let anyone up that walks in behind anyone....so there goes your safety. The Condos used to be apartments and is very apparent. If someone is not in the office, which is alot, you miss your packages being delivered. The only good thing about this crap building is the location.

This is a warm, welcoming building nestled in the heart of the Gold Coast. You absolutely cannot beat the location...blocks from the lake, Lincoln Park, and Michigan Ave shopping. You are just minutes away from it all, yet you overlook a quiet, tree-lined street in one of Chicago's nicest, safest neighborhoods. However the rooftop deck is perhaps one of the greatest assets...equipped with Webber grills and ample chaise lounge chairs, it overlooks the lake and is never too crowded. Overall a wonderful living experience! Apparently the building has come a long way since some of the earlier reviews, as the entire facade was redone this summer and the elevators and lobby have recently been renovated.

This place is truly in the wrong neighborhood, visually and professionally! If you have ever seen the episode of seinfeld when george's dad gets impeached by the condo association. Well, thats what it's like living here. You are pretty much a prisoner living in a tyrancy run by the "board". The irony is that there is nothing this place has to offer that would warrant putting up with all of the rules, regulations, and paper thin walls.

The lobby area is adjacent with the garbage room which makes it smell all the time. The laundry room is a disaster and floods daily. The outside of the building looks like a giant chicken coop. Finally, the office manager and the association run the place like it was the backup plan for Pelican Bay.

Bottom line is.....stay away

The location in fabulous, minutes from everything you need..but the building itself is tired and old. They remodeled the elevators, but they are extremely slow and HOT, and I find myself contantly waiting in the lobby, which doubles as a washing machine facility. So if you don't mind constantly waiting for an elevator, while smelling detergent, this place is for you! However the rooftop deck is amazing..and hardly no one's ever up there.
