Totally screwed me out of a lease that was supposed to start in less than 2 weeks that I was "guaranteed" warned about their low plan on hiking up the utilities to well over $200 a month without notice, not to mention the units are complete dumps!

65 east scott has a friendly staff. Great location, quiet, safe, and clean. The utility costs are high due to old windows that are not energy efficient. The electric bills are high ( I used to have a 2 bedroom and now have a 1 bedroom. The utilities are high in both layouts). The roof top could use a remodel, possibly some barbecue grills and more foliage on the sun deck. I have lived here for 2 years and do not plan on moving any time soon.

I lived in this building for 8 years, and I am still in here today. I will be moving out in 2017 or 2018. It is a terrific place where you can live!

You're not going to find a better building in this price range in the actual Gold Coast area. The building is a bit dated, but kept up so well that it's not apparent. The apartments are big, and from what I've heard pretty much all of them are being upgraded when new tenants move in. We got basically a brand new kitchen and carpet before we moved in. Outdoor pool (that does have pretty strict guidelines on guests, but at least it's not a frat party every weekend and residents can actually get chairs) and a small gym. As far as safety, the area itself is great but you do still need to use common sense. Alleys at night aren't a good idea, we all know that. I haven't heard of any incidents in the past 2 years --and do believe the office would tell the residents if there was something-- but saw it mentioned in another review, so thought it was worth mentioning that it's not something common... Parking is a bit tough in the area, but indoor parking is offered for about $200 a month at the building. The office staff, doormen, and maintenance guys are all friendly and helpful -- any issues we have had were addressed right away and never came up again. All in all, this is a great building -- right by the lake and both beaches, as well as walking distance to lots of fun stuff (mag mile, the triangle, lpzoo, old town attractions, etc.) Check it out, my guess is you won't go anywhere else!

I have lived in many different rental buildings throughout the lincoln park and gold coast area. This building is by far my favorite. I have been here for the past 5 years and have very few complaints. The staff has been the same since I moved in and generally very helpful. Most of the residents on my floor are younger than I am but generally keep to themselves and not real loud. Just my two-cents for what its worth.

DO NOT LIVE HERE. If you enjoy peace and quiet and a management office that listens to your concerns, you do not want to live at 65 E. Scott. The leasing office refuses to do anything about noise in the building and will prioritize the needs of tenants who have lived in the building longer than newer tenants. The most inconsiderate leasing office I have ever encountered. Save yourself the money and time and do not live here.

This place is ridiculous. The people in the leasing office do not get back to you. At first, I was so excited to live here with the pool and the location, but I feel very relieved that it didn't work out. We bent over backwards to reach out to the leasing office to sign the lease and get things taken care of, but everyone in the office, including the owner, kept jerking us around. I've heard from multiple people that the electricity bill is way too high, which sky rockets rent. DO NOT MOVE HERE! Seriously, you can find way better!

The heat and air conditioning is all electric. Your electric bill will be over $200 in the winter and anywhere from $120 to $180 in the summer. If you don't use the air much it will probably be about $80-$90. Ok building and location but expensive for what it is. The apartment was just OK, nothing special, just a box with kind of beat up kitchen cabinets with plastic handles, old brown bathroom tiles from the 70's, windows leak very badly when it rains hard, leaks cold air in the winter. They replaced the carpet with really cheap stuff with no padding. Aside from those things it is so so I guess, but with the high rent combined with such high electric bills, it is not worth it.

The staff will treat you like a guest when you are trying to find an apartment but will treat you like garbage after you moved in. They even will charge you for the days you don't live there after you move out!!!

Overall, this building is a terrific value for the large units, prime Gold Coast location and ample amenities, including a 24 hour doorman, spacious "pool and sun club" and gym. A few of the doormen and the entire maintenance team are a joy and make up for the often negative and unfriendly management office. To offer a few specifics: - Despite numerous resident complaints to the management about EXTREMELY high electric bills ($200 in the winter), nothing has been done to help deal with ComEd or to update units to be more energy efficient - While the swimming pool is amazing, it feels like Fort Knox, as guests must pay $10 each visit, but are still treated as annoyances - Rehabs that are promised to long-standing residents, rarely happen and typically take months of follow up to come to fruition (if at all) - Even with ample parking places available, residents cannot pay for guests to park in the convenient garage
