I have lived in my apartment for almost 2 years and love it. They are being slowly updated and mine is now almost entirely redone from when I moved in. The management are super nice and they maintenance guys come up about 2 seconds after they are called. The places are really well maintained and I have found that if you want something fixed or replaced, all you have to do is ask. If you have a package they will deliver it to your apartment. They allow you to paint your walls to personalize the place. The apartments have lots of closet space and are pretty big considering the price for the location. I have a ton of stuff and fit it all in nicely. The washers and dryers were all just replaced so they now have a pretty nice laundry room. The "gym" is only ok. The pool is really nice but you have to pay to bring guests which is kind of annoying. The residents of the building are, for the most part, nice. Doormen are nice. The only serious negative I have found is the heating and the heating bill. The windows leak cold air so the heaters have to do a lot to compensate. My bills this winter have been between $100-200 a month. The heaters are wall heaters so they make a lot of wind noise (which you get used to) and they turn on and off every 2 seconds (which I will never get used to). In the summer, the a/c is totally adequate and the bills for a/c which comes from the same unit as the heat, are cheap. Overall, amazing value, great building manager (gloria), great maintenance staff, wonderful place!

I lived in the bldg. in the 90's but thought I'd add my two cents, uh, four cents: PROS Location, location location Great for shopping, going to beach, running in park, beach Cooler in Summer by the lake security - just presence helps There is a view from the West side of bldg, none to East, some lake in corners - 2 bdrms (floor/ceiling windows) pool was never crowded, didn't charge earlier quiet walk-in closet newer appliances never saw bugs maintenance prompt Never heard of any theft in bldg. CONS I had a studio and spent $200 on heat alone in the winter (floor/ceiling windows) HVAC units in walls with no themostat, annoying to regulate Mgr at that time was difficult (90's) Doormen are merely security guards dressed up like doormen Lack of privacy. Doorman knows every feature of your life Doorman not your employee, mgmt's employee Female resident gets mugged almost every year while using alley/loading dock entrance Be careful! Tacky bldg. but may have since upgraded Definitely not Luxury apts I pd, get this, $660 for my studio back then Security cameras are pointed at loading dock/move out, NOT AT THE DOOR so security can see you safely getting in (back entrance) Studio is NOT 550 sf. I measured. It's more like 385 sf. Tiny. Some repairs done cheaply but just complain and they'll come back Built in 1974 and slapped up cheaply to beat the new sprinkler ordinance in 1975 by Chicago Fire dept. Major fire on mezzanine. (limited to one apt.) Tenents fault. but NO SPRINKLERS, couldn't use the elevators, too much smoke in the stairwells to use, can't get through to doorman's phone. SCARY. Weather is really nasty off the lake when you live on it, major wind chill Overall, other than the utility expense, I very much enjoyed living here. It is probably the only reasonably ?!* priced high rise on the Gold Coast. Much more expensive than away from the lake. It's a location trade-off.

I have lived here for four years and everything has been wonderful! The maintenance is amazingly quick, and very friendly. The staff is great, as are the doormen. The location is great, as is having a pool. The apartments are quiet and very spacious. Heat during the winter can get a bit pricey, but that's Chicago. If it weren't for a job relocation, I would stay here for quite some time.

I have had 5 apartments around Chicago, and this is by far my favorite. I love the maintenance guys, they literally show up 2 hours after you ask them to fix something. The heat / ac is pretty expensive, but otherwise this building is great. Kitchen is outdated, but find. I wish this building would go condo so I could buy a unit.

I found 65 E. Scott somewhat by accident, and have loved it ever since. The office staff is wonderful and friendly, and maintenance is incredibly fast. The building is hardly the newest in the area, but for your money, you couldn't ask for anything better. This rental building is in a phenomenal neighborhood surrounded by million dollar homes, and many apartments have a view of the lake. Not to mention a minimalist, but sufficient, exercise room, no problems in the laundry room, and outdoor pool. I couldn't be happier.

The location of this building is incredible - you are conveniently located steps away from the lake, Michigan ave. shops, Rush St. restaurants and bars, Lincoln Park, and so much more. The maintenance staff responds promptly - always within 24 hrs. The door security and office staff are also incredibly friendly and really make the place feel like home. Best of all, this is really affordable living, esp in such a great area.

This building not only has a greatlocation, but is well kept and secure. You are located just steps from the beach, Michigan Avenue, and the restaurants and shops of Rush St, but don´t pay the high prices typical of Lakeshore Drive. The parking is reasonably priced for the area ($180) and the pool, fitness room, and storage are provided free of charge. Cable is provided for only $14/month, and it includes a few premium channels as well. The floor to ceiling windows are fantastic as well! Heat and a/c are individually controlled, so you aren´t subjected to the decision of management, but costs aren´t overwhelming (in the worst days of winter, the bill was $85). Plus, the building staff, including maintenance, is very attentive and responsive to any needs.

I´d highly recommend the building -- I wish I could have stayed longer!

It´s a great location and has parking which is a plus for the location.
Pros:
-cable is cheap
-has a seasonal pool
-great doormen
-great views (floor to ceiling windows)
-great, fabulous, fantastic maintenance men (they were so helpful and prompt for us)

Cons:
-Old fashioned heating/a/c units in each room. Very inefficient heating. Our first heating bill was $200 /month!!!! We learned that we needed to add the plastic sheets (from Ace) to the windows each winter to keep the heat in and the cold air out since the windows leaked air continuously.
-We were on the 2nd floor, but our unit flooded 3x in 3 years!!! We had mixed results from the management. The office staff (at that time) were nice to us, but the head management (Vintresca) was a jerk! Our living room had about 1-2" of standing water, yet he didn´t want to replace the carpet. (The unit flooded because of the poor window construction. Since you´re right off the lake with high winds, any rainstorms and high winds would push the rain/water through the windows into the floor.
-Pool usage is a bit pricey ($50/summer)
-parking is a bit cramped and spots are close together
-no garbage disposal (this caused our sink to flood over Thanksgiving since the water backed-up into our unit)

Overall, it was a great experience to live at 65 E. Scott for the time that I did. However, I felt that we had to fight for every little thing (esp. with the flooding problems).
