I have absolutely loved living at the Portico at West 8. The Management Staff are awesome. Nancy, Clarence and Michael are great. I love the monthly brunch that is held for the residents as well as the monthly activities. If I make a maintenance request, within 2 days it is completed. The grounds are always nice and clean. The residents are always pleasant. The location is great as well...near CityCentre, near the Galleria Mall, not far from Katy or Sugarland...just a great place to live all around.

We lived at Portico for over 3 years. We experienced a positive experience for the most part. There were a lot of Pro's but we had our few shares of Con's. The leasing office was always very helpful. Clarance and Nancy were ALWAYS on top of things and ALWAYS assisted my roommate and I within any situation. When we needed maintenance, we submitted a request online and within the next day the situation would be fixed. The things we did not like were that our upstairs neighbors were either very heavy people or their form of walking was stomping. If their kid was not running up and down the apt the adults were stomping back and forth until about 2 or 3 am. We reported the situation and it calmed down for a while but I guess that's what happens when you live in an apartment complex. Secondly, for the amount of money one pays at this place (which by the way is not near downtown Houston area and is still a small drive into Galleria area) they were so strict about how many guest you had in the pool, the time the pool closed and more than anything there is one female worker that seemed like everything bothered her. She is short and cant remember her name with big eyes but she always seemed to find something wrong with anyone that was by the pool side. It was Ridiculous! Also, the 3rd gate seemed to ALWAYS be broken. They would fix it but then it would not open. When we first moved into the complex the parking garage seemed to always be clean. After a year or so we started noticing people leaving trash behind, leaving trash or spilling drinks in the hallways just dirty. Maintenance did a good job by cleaning after but it is ridiculous to see such thing happen at a "luxury" apartment complex. I would not recommend leaving ANYTHING in your car. It does not matter how "safe" you may feel. Since there has been construction at the complex there are many individuals that come in and out on a daily basis that you can obviously tell don't live there. I do believe they should find a different way to manage the parking garage especially for the amount of money people pay to live at this complex. All of our con's are obviously not major but when you pay $1600+ for an apartment, you better believe it should be near perfect living situation (or so we feel it should be). For the most part this place is great to live at. No one ever bothered us. It was calm for the most part but we decided to leave because we felt we were paying too much for the location and things just did not feel the same anymore. The complex is getting bigger which is great business for them but that means more people, congestion and be prepared to walk a distance from the garage to your apartment especially when you have groceries please purchase a little wagon to pull all groceries into your apartment. You will see why. Beautiful apartments I will not lie. Good luck and we hope you found our review to be helpful.

In a recent stay at my Corporate apartment, I had given my key to my salesman and I had no way to enter my apartment. I went to the office and explained my situation to Clarence Champ and without hesitation he called maintenance to code another key for me to use while I was there. They really go the extra mile to help their tenants any way possible. Thanks Clarence.

We have been staying here for more than 2 years now. This is one of the best apartment one can ask for in the given price range. Management is good and helpful. Maintenance people are prompt and very helpful. Apartment over all is clean and no nonsense place. It has good private schools in less then 3 miles. Kroger and other stores are very close by. Overall very good place to stay in. The only negative thing about the apartment is - it lacks play area. I have a child who is 3 and therefore this is a major concern for me. And this is the only reason I am giving it 4 (otherwise would have given it 5).

We loved it for the first few months then they move an elephant in up stairs. They walked very heavy every step, on some nights kids would fight and roll around {we were expecting them to fall through the ceiling at any time}. Then on week nights the parents would fight and scream an stomp around very noisy from 10pm until after 2am. We reported this as told by the office and it only got worse. We also called the Police twice trying to get some sleep for work the next day. We were going to move because of this as soon as our lease was up. Then we were told that we still had to give a 60 day notice even with the lease being up. Whatttt we would not be moving if they could control the noise.
