— 11 3 PLACE · Brooklyn“Pros: Price is affordable and apartment has plenty of light and outdoor space Cons: The apartment dirty/scummy no matter how often we cleaned. The upstairs neighbors were always screaming and fighting, the management company was unhelpful, rude and charged for all sorts of scammy things like getting locked out of the unit. The outdoor space was filthy due to neighbors throwing trash down from higher floors. The location is pretty bad, facing two gas stations and the subway. We had flies and a poorly draining tub for a full year. Gross, frustrating, would not recommend.”
“Pros: Cool neighborhood, relatively calm in spite of being on a main road. Easy access to buses and 2/5 line + target, Aldi. Cons: Awful management, super shady, randomly will change property managers without telling tenants, randomly request fees without communicating what they’re for from tenants. Not worth the rent. Thin walls- can hear everything happening in neighbor’s home. Advice to landlord: I would suggest better and more transparent communication with your tenants. If possible, have a heart and stop taking advantage of the fact that people need a place to live, stop leveraging that power and screwing people out of every cent you possibly can.”

Cons: 2.5 years of a mouse problem! Repeated complaints, visits from the super, finally pest control came but the mice were extremely persistent. The super's excuse was that they were coming in through the building next door, not sure how much sense that makes. Also, there are issues with package delivery and security. I had a valuable package stolen, the super had security footage of the guy, and said he hung out outside the building all day, but he said he couldn't do anything about it. The door code was never changed so people could just come in whenever and steal stuff. Also the door code not changing was an issue when a neighbor of mine had an abusive partner who she couldn't stop from entering the building because he knew the code. Other downsides: shitty windows, electric heat that costs a fortune in the winter, train noise if you don't like that sort of thing (I didn't mind). Advice to landlord: Stop the mice, and change the door code regularly/install a virtual doorman.”

Cons: Balcony flooded apartments during tropical storm, heating units not maintained resulting in high electric bills for tenants, laundry machines are old and only take quarters, scammy practices from management who clearly want to cut corners to save $, neighborhood feels a little unsafe”

A happy tenant is a tenant who stays and continues to rent and care for the property as if it were their own. Currently, every tenant interaction is perceived as an inconvenience.”
