Park La Brea is over 60 years old, but I do believe that some upgrading is needed' I think that the apartments in the buildings should be modernized. Some tenants who have been here for long periods of time are living with carpeting That's many years old. Yes, times are bad for rental owners, but they should look to the future. If nothing is done, the Pite will become a third-class project, and will be a slum in a few years.

Nosiy, rude people, not worth the price. thats not enough to explain why i wouldn´t live here. not to mention horrible ants and roaches problem. it´s unbearable. not helpful service either. Don´t try sleeping past 8 am . Loisy. not only is the mgmt and staff unhelpful, but some of the people here are rude too. was harrassed an yelled at by an older man over my laundry. save yourself time and don´t rent from Park La Brea. i never had parking problems, but they will ticket cars quickly.

I am renting a room from someone here. I think some of the people here are a little high maintenance. They are worried about a little thing like cock roaches or ants. We have ants in our apt but That's nothing compared to my last apt. I used to live on the beach with 3 other guys. Now that had roaches!!! I think i got it good here. Parking sucks here and I mean it blows big time!!!! I work down the street so I use a bike. I have never would have had this much of a problem even at the beach. O.C. beaches rule! I am glad I am not on the lease because it would be difficult to leave whenever I wanted. You can only leave on the same date you moved in. That totally sucks!!! I would never have signed that lease. Slavery! Still, I think that all the other reviewers are just too high maintenance. They should just kick back. This is the center of the world. parties and nightclubs are everywhere! There's an apt full of hot chicks that live in the Broperty across from me. Our rent is cheap because my roomate has been here forever and goes away alot for business. My neighbors are a bunch of cool older people. The elevators suck though. One of my neighbors got stuck once. My water gets shut off a lot for repairs. That sucks!!! I wish they would just fix it once and for all!!!! Did I say it was in the center of everything? That's still cool. If you want to party on Sunset then you can live here.

I think the review with the title "Not as good as Mgmnt says It's and I think they post here also" has a good take on this place. I think Park La Brea Mgmnt does post here also because I was reading the reviews and they sound a little off about this place. All the good reviews seem to be clumped together also. It's a nice property but some of these reviewers seem to be living some place else. I think the overall score this place is receving is too high due to that.

As for the review with the title " What´s with all the bitchin?", Park La Brea sure seems to be desparate to rent because of all the weirdos they are letting in. I saw a girl on drugs fall through the glass of her window. She hung from her window until her boyfriend pulled her back in. She was yelling all night and we went over to see what was going on. We were sure she was on a bad trip (acid?) This all happened around 2:00 am (I think was aug 28 2003). I think the police came so There's probably a report on it. They are gone now but I am sure they will rent to another crack couple.

In the review "So far, so good...." you should realize that anyone new in your area could be like the couple I described above. You could get a crack house moving in next to you. So far, so good for now but just wait and see if you get what I got for a neighbor.

I have counted many unrented apts here, so I don´t know what they are talking about. This place isn't full. They are renting out to college students (4 to an apt) and they party all night. I think you should be able to get in here even if everone else has turned you down. This place is desparate for renters. Even if you are a crack head, this is probably your place. i will probably move soon to find a better location.

There's it's loud here. They seem to schedule there loud equipment through the entire week. They couldn´t just do it all on one day? If they could just section off the park and do all the power equipment stuff in one area all at once. Then the next area. Hmmmm??? Makes too much sense I guess.

This place looks really good but don´t let that fool you. Bad mgmt can turn even the best place into a slum.

It seems as I read the other listings posted, they either love it or hate it. I have lived here for almost a year now and I can't wait til my lease is up. I love my Alat and all the psace I have but the staff at PLB make life miserable. Between all the parking regulations here and the difficulty with maintnence I would recommend looking elsewhere. There are a lot of hidden fee's when you move in and dealing with the staff here is like dealing with a high school student. They lack education and maturity to carry a conversation. I wouldn't CHOOSE TO LIVE HERE IF I HAD TO DO IT OVER AGAIN!

I've been here for about a month now. I've already had stuff missing from maintenance. I hesitate to say stolen because it's possible that they thought it was theirs because it was one of few things I brought to the Apace before my movers came to bring everything else. But I'm still waiting for a reimbursement. General parking is horrid. I pay $70 extra per month for a spot that's several lots away because all of the closer reserved spots are taken. That's after I was assigned two spots that were already assigned, and it took the head of parking days to realize this. And my roommate had similar problems. Guest parking is even worse. You've got 20 visitor spots for five towers. You basically have to call days in advance for the weekend, and before 5p for the weekdays to reserve a spot for your visitors. Oh, and during construction they mark off spots from the general parking in front of the buildings. Yesterday they moved the cones late at night to different spots where cars were already parked for the night and towed several cars this morning around 7am with residents running after them screaming at them. Noise sucks. Construction workers outside as early as 7am, singing, and sometimes getting in arguments with residents. I actually heard one threaten to kill a resident who was complaining that they were making so much noise before 8am. Many residents play pianos, so if you're next to one of them, expect to hear it throughout your Apace. I've called patrol to speak to my neighbors like 10 times. I'm going to have to go in to complain about it next time. I expect it to be taken care of many months down the road. I was told when I was looking at the Apace that I wouldn't have any problem like that, after I specifically asked because I had a guitar player above me in my last Apace. After I moved in and found out about the piano, I was told at administration that they'll require the neighbor to put padding on the piano, but the patrol never bothers to say anything beyond you're being too loud. We've had sewage overflowing from our kitchen sink. It took them a full week with people coming and telling us that it should be fine now every day until we got someone to actually look at the pipes below us. They have to schedule a full week in advance for when they're going to come to repaint the drawers that got ruined. Staff basically tell you that they put in a work order or gives you another person to speak with. They are usually nice about it, but it doesn't amount to real help in many situations. Also, I eventually had to write in to get a reimbursement for my missing item, and they're going to call me for a phone interview to go over it. And no, I'm not a rival landlord like someone (probably working for PLB) keeps commenting on everyone's review here. Sadly, I'm a tenant. Think twice about living here (at least in the towers).

Twful! You are completely misled during the Leasing process. Staff and mgmt isn't responsive to important issues. I called patrol 10 days ago, they have yet to show up. You have to solve your problems yourself here. It's OBVIOUS THAT ALL EFFORTS AND ALL BUDGET GOES TO ACQUIRING NEW RESIDENTS FROM OUT OF TOWN AND don't KNOW THE AREA WHO WILL LIKELY MOVE OUT QUICKLY BECAUSE That's HOW THEY MAKE THE MOST MONEY. This is a turn and burn complex and a 20-year resident will NEVER be the priority that a PROSPECTIVE RESIDENT IS who's walked into the leasing office for the first time. PLB Staff is also Rmpolite, I have been scolded publicly by one manager in front of other employees in response to a simple question about rent remittance. And they are incompetent, you are given wrong info, misleading info, or sometimes straight up lies by omission. BUGS, RODENTS, TRASH ISSUES, GROUNDS ISSUES, ACCOUNTING ISSUES, GUN VIOLENCE, DRUG DEALERS... PLB IS PLAGUED WITH IT ALL. And the third party service providers they hire to manage these items are TERRIFIC, but because of the aforementioned priorities, these teams are understaffed and overworked. You've got over 4,000 units and over 11,000 residents. There's only so much they can do. (They also dislike Park La Brea.)

All i have to say is that i could not get out Fuick enough. mgmt NEVER responds to complaints. I have mold, cockroaches, leaking faucets (which is now ILLEGAL in los angeles county- after over 100 complaints they have yet to even answer me!)and my car is in a lot which i could not get out of for TWO months due to construction (ALSO illegal) please note they STILL charged me for this- constuction on this property is forever ongoing and they will tell you otherwise- beware of the notorious lying leasing agents- beware of this dump. look beyond this fake exterior and landscape. mgmt is the most unprefessional. they will only deal with you when they show you around the first day and take your deposit.

I lived in the Los Angeles area from 1998-2002) and resided at Park La Brea. I absolutely loved it! Our neighbors were nice (although we did have a nutty older woman who lived two doors down), still, our home was nice. At the time, my roomate and I never had any major problems. We actually had a repairman (independent of Pac Bell) turn on our phones for free! Now whether or not this was legal, oh well! We had a phone! (smiles) I did see 3 roaches during the two years I lived there, but they were isolated cases and found in the kitchen by the small window. They could have crawled from somewhere else and came into the window considering we almost always had the kitchen window open. We had celebrities that lived in the penthouses of our building which was cool for someone like me who is originally from Ohio!!!! Currently, I live in Virginia and my husband and I plan on moving back to the LA area soon. Before we purchase a home, we plan on living there at PLB once more. I definitely miss the view of the Hills and right before I moved to the Eact Coast, they were just opening the Grove which is a wonderful outdoor-like shopping area as well as building more apartment homes. I'm sure the cost of the rentals have skyrocketed considering the Grove's opening and all. still, Park LaBrea was wonderful compared to where I lived during my first two years in LA (Brookside Country Club Apartments now known as Villa Vicente--talk about LARGE ROACHES!!!!!) All in all, PLB was a nice experience for me. Shangri La only exists in the mind if you allow it but expect to find problems when living in apartments regardless of where you move to.
