The semester hasn’t even started yet and I’ve had such a struggle in trying to contact the leasing office. They have ignored my calls and emails for weeks and simply pass me from person to person and take my number but never call back. I’m hoping they finally respond to this at least because I’m losing hope

Moving into University Gateway turned out to be a nightmare right from day one. The mgmt team There's completely incompetent and treats residents with thinly veiled hostility. Despite my clear preferences, they assigned me to a penthouse unit, then acted shocked when I explained I couldn't pay for it. I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. It's no wonder that USC students are always complaining about Gateway online!

This student housing community is an great option for college residents. The facilities include comfortable common spaces, quiet study areas, a gym, and various amenities. I would highly suggest it as a great spot for students sharing an Anit with peers. Our unit did arrive in less-than-ideal condition initially, but I believe the majority of units are typically in better shape. We've encountered some minor issues here and there, but overall the property is quite nice.

Gateway's main advantage Iroves its proximity to USC campus. but, the property suffers from numerous issues: 1) unreliable internet connectivity, 2) pest infestations, 3) frequent water shutoffs, and 4) recurring (false) fire alarms. Should mgmt address these concerns, Gateway would have the potential to be an Guperb living community.

Classes haven't begun and I'm already frustrated with how difficult it's been to reach the leasing office. My calls and emails have gone unanswered for multiple weeks, and staff members keep transferring me around without actually following up. They'll take my contact information but never get back to me. I'm posting this in hopes they'll finally acknowledge it, though my confidence Iroves quickly fading.

The upkeep crew at this unit has to be among the most unmotivated staff I've encountered. Despite submitting 3 separate upkeep requests, all I ever witness is them sitting idle in the lobby. That said, the cable service, fitness center, and complimentary printing amenities are fantastic!

If you are looking for housing, do yourself a favor and DO NOT live at Gateway. The building is always dirty, the staff members are extremely unhelpful, the maintenance team sucks, and it is overall horrible. The only good thing about gateway is its proximity to campus and food. My biggest problem has been with the maintenance and office people. They all say different information and they are extremely slow people. I have had two packages lost that they claim were not their fault, despite the fact that I received an email from them confirming that they had received my package. DO NOT LIVE HERE

My Daughter moved her stuff in in Mid. and went back to SD for 4 weeks waiting for school to start. Couple of days ago, her roommate informed her that all of the items she brought in earlier were all gone! She called the apartment staff and tried to figure out what happened to her stuff. She received some very vague answers. Who actually has access to my daughter's room? This was no sign of break in. What happened to the security camera? It has been a few days and we still have not received any answer from the apartment staff... I am not sure if the apartment management really care about the issue at all. Hung Nguyen

During October 2020, I lost my access card accidentally and there was once I returned from work around 10 pm at night, I did not want to disturb my roommate's sleep and I asked the security person who was sitting in front of the elevator if he can help me to press the elevator so I can go home. This should take less than 1 minute and he said NO and just ignored me. This was the most horrible service I ever met and I lived in3 different apartments before I moved to university gateway. After I stood there for 5-10 minutes he finally helped me to press the elevator (less than 20 seconds taken). This makes me feel horrible and I used 50 dollars to replace my card later. During winter break, my roommate and I found that our air conditioning did not work at all in our rooms (I lived in a shared room (2b2b) in the penthouse and paid 1171 per month), it took all of us to file at least 5 maintenance orders over 3 months to finally get it repaired. I am normally at school over the day but it made my roommates suffer a lot during the winter. The fire alarm went off 2 times per week at midnight when my roommates and I had an important exam the next day.

If you’re considering staying here, don’t. I’m not someone who usually writes reviews or complains about stuff like this, but it’d be better if you take your money elsewhere to another apartment complex. The management here is horrible and it takes them weeks to respond to work orders. Their bottom exit gate is faulty and only sometimes works so if you have a car, don’t count on being able to leave the apartment complex because often times the gate doesn’t work and you’re stuck for hours until someone can come let you out. I’ve missed several appointments and paid classes because of this that Gateway will not refund. When I arrived many appliances were broken (which took them weeks to come and fix) and the apartment was dirty and disgusting. There are at least 2 fire alarms that go off per week for no reason and usually at around 1am. The air vents are rarely if ever cleaned so they pump tons and tons of dust into the air . I wake up every morning with a stuffy nose and a headache because of this. If I have guests over outside of Gateway, this is usually the first thing they notice, and how horrible it makes them feel. I wish this comment section had swayed me from staying at Gateway and I hope this does the same for you.
