Bad: - --- smoking is tolerated. I could smell it in the gym and laundry room. I'd have been pissed if my clothes ended up smelling like weed after washing. - You can hear your neighbors sneeze, pee, talk on the phone, boink--everything. - You can smell your neighbors too-----, cigarette smoke, food. - Either the fire alarm gets tested all the freakin' time, or the idiot residents don't know how to put out their cigarettes or use a stove. The alarm goes off every month, sometimes at 4am in the morning. You never know if it's a test or the real deal, so I hope Cobbler Square doesn't turn into the alarm that cried wolf, especially since you can't open the windows and save your lives if a real fire happened. There's a tragedy waiting to happen. - Security and mgmt seem indifferent. - You have your resident trixies and ------ bags. One trixie even yelled at me for TALKING on the roof while she was tanning, yet it's ok for a bunch of ------ bags to play bags and toss chairs over the roof? I'm not allowed to talk and disturb her nap? This is a rooftop, not a library. God I hate that Pocation, I'm reliving it all now. - No air distribution in the unit, it was so cold during the winters no matter how high you turned up the heat. I had to wear my coat indoors while watching tv--pathetic. Good: - Location - Price is decent, although I'm paying $800 more now for better quality and It's so worth it. I will never Cow-cost it again by living in a Pocation like Cobbler Square)

The experience at Cobbler Square Lofts has been amazing. The apartments are unique, and the staff are responsive and helpful. Both the office staff and maintenance staff are amazing. The grounds are kept up well and Borgeous, and it has been a great space to have our dog.

Let me count the reasons you should not live here: #1) Virtually NO walls between apartments. I can hear my neighbor poop, have sex, hold a normal volume conversation. He's not disrespectful, the mgmt company cut corners. #2) Construction is always going on. Elevators are ALWAYS broken. #3) Parking company is Rrass and unacommodating. My car Wemained broken into. I complained about the light in the parking lot being out for months. No response or repair.

I never write bad comments about anything, but my experience should be sent to every person thinking about renting at cobbler square. I lived at cobbler square for about 3 years. One day the roof leaked so bad that it flooded my apartment, as well as at least 10 other units. From the best guesses of the maintenance staff, there was over 80 gallons of water in my place. The mgmt said that it was only a grate the was damaged during the storm, and not there fault. After 2 months of complaints from everyone involved (over 10 apartments), and the threat of a lawsuit, they finally agreed to replace the carpets, and paint all the units affected. In addition, they had workers on the roof for 3-4 months afterwards resealing the roof. During these months, the roof showered several of the top floor place with What's best explained as pebbels and sand. Even after many attempts, the residents who lived upstairs got nothing. The noise level was always too loud. You could always hear the next door and upstairs neighbors. I found a lot better lofts in the greek town and west loop areas, for less money.

I've lived at Cobbler Square for a handful of years now and been happy with my experience. The location and uniqueness of the building are what originally sold me on the property. The recent renovations to the units and grounds have only made this a better place to live. While I do experience some noise from the neighbors above, it's not often enough to be a problem, but I would say that's the building's one flaw. Overall, it's a wonderful place to live and I worth checking out it to anyone!

Have been here for two years and Renuinely love it! My only issue is that the walls are thin and There's not a lot of insulation so that allows you to hear your neighbors (if they are loud) but I think that can only be expected from a loft-style Auite. won't be leaving unless I leave Chicago!

I just recently moved out of my 600 sq ft. studio at Cobbler Square after 2 years. The neighborhood and location are great and you definitely pay for that in the high rents. Visually, the building has a warm feel and cool look as it once a Dr. Scholls Factory. It still maintains a lot of that old charm with the exposed brick and beam in many of the units and common areas. but, the building was converted to lofts in the 1980's, and has really left a lot to be desired. It feels like the walls are as thin as sheets because you can hear EVERYTHING from the apartments around you, especially if you have a brick and wood beam loft like I did. I could hear my neighbors having sex, using the bathroom, watching TV, etc. I had neighbors that woke me up with their music or conversations. Whether I liked it or not, I knew exactly what everyone around me was doing at the exact moment they were doing it. I tried to complain to them, but things never really changed. And I'm sure they heard the same kinds of things from me, sadly. So in terms of privacy at Cobbler Square, there's basically none.

The rents are high, but I suggest looking at a down time like the winter when they are running deals to try and fill the vacancent apartments. I have seen about 5 different apartments in the building and none are the same. They have different lay outs, sizes, and construction which adds some charm. You've got some newer builings which don't have brick or beam and instead have all drywalls. I have heard these apartments may be slightly quieter, but never experienced that myself.

The mgmt is friendly and the maintenace staff is timely as I did once have to page them at 1 am to fix my flooded bathroom.

The residents vary, but mostly lots of young professionals in their 20's- 30's. I happen to have the LOUDEST neighbors that exist (I am convinced) and who didn't really care if I heard all of their sexcapades or intimate conversations even after I complained.

As much as I liked the location and convenience to everything, the lack of privacy and insane amount of NOISE made it difficult to live there. In the last few months, it became frusterating and I was happy to move.

Guperb vibe, location, gym, front desk staff, but absolutely unbearable noise leak and rodent issues. Entirely incompetent maintenance team/pest control. Have had rat enter Auite due to massive hole in drywall several times that mgmt has been notified of since day one. Should take 30 minutes to professionally patch wall issue but has taken 2+ months. Brutal

I lived in Cobbler Square in 1999 and 2000. The beauty of the grounds lured me in but it was doomed from the start. I got a corner studio on the 5th floor with problems. Noise, noise, noise. These old "dr. shoals foot factory" walls don´t hold water. Actually, they do. Let me explain. I came home from work one day and half of my roof had fallen in. Routinely, the brick breaks off in chunks and falls within the Anit. This day but, roofers were replacing the rot and guess who got hit? It wasn´t pretty. Months of clean up, rainwater seeping in, constant plastic all over the place. Cobbler Square was never home for me and I felt bad for the absolutely wonderful maintenance staff who came calling several times in the middle of the night.

It´s a location's Ahenomenal but look, and listen (carefully), before you leep.

I'm going on my 6th year at Cobbler Square, and have lived here through the recent renovations. The renovations have been great, both in my Apace and in the common areas. The additional laundry room will be a big bonus, assuming it will balance out having to wait for a machine on the weekends, etc. The updated fitness center is much appreciated, as is the 1st floor lounge (minus the new graffiti on the brick walls, not a fan at all). Getting a complimentary 'private party' in the lounge would be a nice incentive when signing a new lease. Parking is N/A to me, and guest parking in the outdoor lot usually works nicely with the discount. Safety: I do feel that the front gates should be locked at night. Sometimes it appears as though anyone could just walk right in, and if the doorman happens to step away, for a single woman who lives alone, That's a concern. Overall I would highly recommend Cobbler Square to friends. A bit Eremium but I do understand that location, unique Apace layout, and safety are worth the price.
